Am not a person that goes after brand. I go after good machines. Doesn't matter who built it. Whoever built a good one get my nod of approval. Manufacturers responds to competition. Its won't be outrageous to assume that we would still be driving Ambassadors and Mahindra Jeeps if Maruti Suzuki did not enter the scenario. At the same time it won't be outrageous to assume that we may still be driving maruti 800 had others not enter the Indian car industry. In all likelyhood Maruti may be happily churning out 800's year after year with perhaps a slight upgrade in a decade like mirrors and stuffs like that. Its the nature of the market. Who should takes the honour of changing the scene is a very debatable question. As I see it, all these changes are reaction to one another like the story of "chick or the egg". What if CBZ never came into existance? Maybe we'll all be riding RX100 today albeit a four stroke RX 100. Maybe not. Maybe Bajaj would come up with something that is closer to RX. Mayne not. So do we attribute the honour to CBZ and Hero Honda? or perhaps Narasima Rao for liberating Indian market? Its hard to say how history would have been written.
Why do I need to bother myself with such matters. Just focus on what there is today and see who is delivering, and by this, it has to be Yamaha. But stick around for some time, things will change quickly by todays pace of change. Thats how market works. So for now, both thumbs up to Yamaha.

This whole discussion polarizes people into 2 groups and in many ways is totally irrelevant. Brand loyalties skew most peoples' view and we can keep arguing till the cows come home without any concrete conclusion to this topic.
What should matter is which bikes contribute to the cause of motorcycling. Lets face it, motorcycling is more a means of transport than a life style in our country. Has Pulsar changed that view? Has Yamaha R15 fired the imagination of people and made them go to showroom to consider buying a bike for more than just transporting them from point A to B? Have these bikes made you consider hopping on to a bike when you have a choice between a car and bike?Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Sorry for OTOriginally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostThis whole discussion polarizes people into 2 groups and in many ways is totally irrelevant.
Aye! Aye! sir, 2 groups it has to be. Only two brands were mentioned in the title. Add more brand and you'll see more groups
Irrelevant?? well, I'll agree that no conclusion can be arrived at. Same for religion, peace, war, love, , pphilosophy, environmental issues.....name it. Theres nothing under the sun that all people can agree completely. Including your comment "Irrelevant". I don't agree
.
Brand loyalties are true for some to an extend. Completely true for some, yet non issue for others. I will not deny I have some soft corners for certain brands, though I'm not fanatical by any stretch of imagination. However my brand loyalty ironically does not extend to the Indian motorcycle scene. My brand is loyalty is ... sniff...sniff Ferrari
.
Anyway, the fact that my wife raised both eyebrows when I toyed with the idea of purchasing an FZ demonstrate that Yamaha has youthful image. And I though I look pretty young

That you were inspired to go to a showroom to consider buying a bike for more than just commuting from point A to B says everything about this subject. I rest my case

. A bike to take me from A to B it has to be, thats all I can afford. Unfortunately my passion and my wallet does not agree
.
As far as "Brand loyalty" is concern, which you took the liberty to described it as "my Favorite", I see the two differently. Though its another subject entirely.

Shoudnt it have been Yamaha vs Bajaj or FZ vs Pulsar. Make it company vs company or model vs model. My 2 cents
