Infact what I'm going to do is just a garage project so I dont plan to take the Laser out on public roads post the engine upgrade. Once again all the best!!!
he he .. Only way to do all this stuff is to keep inspiring each other. Me got inspired from that FZ supporting a Yamaha 350 engine

    Thanks for your wishes!

Sure than man. I am almost done dismantling the engine to the core. Will post the pics, might help someone opening their 250R.

SO THIS IS SOME SERIOUS STUFF MAN, Best of luck & remember, my faster future depends on your success, Go for it!

If this experiment goes well, My ZMA-R will transform into ZMA 250R

    CHEERS!!!
he he .. Thanks! I wont disappoint you Spider

    All the best !!!!!
Ninja engine is roughly around 70+ Kgs. I weigh 70 and i could carry it around (I might be a little powerful too but still). And CBZ engine should be around 50. If i could do tripling on my bro for 4 years everyday and dint even for once changed its shocks or got any welds done, then i guess an extra 20-30 Kgs is not going to do any harm.. What say!

Dont listen to HH guys man, they wont let you reduce their sales by one ZMA

Hey can you share some thoughts/knowledge of replacing a splendor engine with some powerful engine as i also have my age old bro from last 10 years and have the same feelings attached to my machine as you have got.
Thanks Rao! I will update everything i do on this thread. Although i wont recommend you to go for a higher capacity 4-Stroke engine because Splendor's frame might not be suitable. But i guess a compact 2-Stroke should do, obviously u will have to forget about the average of your bike

      Engine Dismantling

Removing the top cover exposes the valves & timing chain compartment:

      Removing the covers:

For removing the timing chain, we need to remove the cam-chain tensionizer:

Removing the clutch plate side of the engine:

      Clutch Plates:

A/C side of the engine, notice the water pump (down middle):

      Oil Filter goes here:

      Dirty Valves:

Sunny: Kudos to the thought behind this. But I have some reservations.. Shoe horning another engine into a chassis like the CBZ is always going to be a tough one. I hope you have your dimensions, mounting points etc all sorted.
For more tips, there are always stalwarts and experienced hands like Rajkumar who've done similar stuff before (ID: Rajkumar11). Maybe Joel can also offer in some help if you ask him.

hey the ninja engine looks much more bigger than the CBZ engine. i doubt whether its a direct fit.

By compact engines you mean the RX 100/135 series?

Was wondering which engine can be a direct fit and improves performance drastically.

Good that you found the engine.. But is this mod street legal? The chassis and engine numbers would change...

^^ thats the least of the worries.. the engine number from the original bike can always be stamped on this bike.

@OP - any work to be done on the motor?? i thought i saw a bit of wear on the cams. Whats the condition of the valve seat? rings etc??

I think best would be to purchase all necessary spares from there, and replace in situ before bringing any parts to india. That will help build a fresh motor, and also improve the performance.

                    Any plans on this?

Yup, not going to be an easy task but i hope it doesn't turn out to be too complicated either. Mounting points are different and i will have to modify the chassis for sure. I am going to make this one work

Yup it is bigger for sure, but i hope things will work out
Yup thats what i meant. I have no idea which one will be a direct fit, you will have to check on that.

Chassis number will still be the same as i will be using my old CBZ chassis only. But yeah will have to think something about the Engine Number

Is it! You have any pointers on that (Stamping a different number on the engine).

The engine is just 450 Miles old, parts are like shinning new except the piston and valves which have a carbon coating, which i will clean up for sure. And as u advised i will be buying all the necessary parts here only, as they will turn out cheap

I ordered a Yamaha YZ 250 Swingarm with locks, and will probably be buying rear disc setup for the same bike
