THe only other commuter 150cc are the likes of unicorn / achiever which cost another 10k more :P I dont think an owner of such a bike would spend 10k in maintainance even in 3 years :P, on top of that bajaj parts quite cheap.

Also to be honest, even if parts in bajaj dont last enough, it still is much cheaper on the pocket than an HH. I used to own a cbz-xtreme and the parts for it were expensive enough and they didnt really last too long to be justified.

Bajaj's focus is now to fill every nook and corner of the price bands in the market with great VFM bikes, rather than going by how many cc's.

Plus most of the commuter folks on indian roads aren't bike savvy. People swear on splendor as a brand, and its the same for discover / pulsar brands of bajaj. Its much easier to stick with a brand that people are familiar with than create something new which people might not take to.
    Bang on!

    @pioneeraron and @ som88:
So you guys have problems with the commuter class rolling on a 150 ha? So you've got more options to choose from, its not a bad thing now is it? Plus people talking about Bajaj parts failing and all, just take a look at the prices of those parts and the prices of the so called long lasting brand bike parts. You'll know why there is a difference in the life.Bajaj parts are really easy on the pocket and its not like they keep failing every other day. Trust me, a well maintained and regularly oil changed Bajaj will last as good as any other bike. Stressing on the well maintained part! I am not paid by Bajaj to take their side, nor am I a fanboy, its just that such comaprisons between a manufacturer who is still in the nascent stage in the bike market and a manufacturer who is in this game since 1955. Won't there be a difference between the two? Bajaj has a pretty good thing going on over here...people were idiotic enough to reject the platina for looking too small when compared to the splendor even though the platina returned better fuel efficiency. So the discover 100 was launched. And since there weren't underpowered 150's with Bajaj, to enable other manufacturers[read:honda] keep up, they launched the discover150 so that the competition is fair!

Ok the last statement was a sarcastic one and no one needs to get hyper over it!

@pioneeraron: you need to stop this bad publicity!

Better than selling the same model, painting the rear wheel red once, the frame red the other time and so on. No?

And what quality are you talking about? Bajaj parts are very much fine, thank you. If you have any real life experience, just put that foreward. We can very well draw our own opinions from that.

It has almost become a fad to bash Bajaj. Why? Just because they are India's foremost 2 wheeler company.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

@pioneeraron: What is this playing with the old models and no new designs are you talking about? Did your beloved HH launch different designs for the splendor or the passion all these years?Or did HMSI launch any new design for the unicorn? They have just been putting on different stickers on their age old bikes. And people keep buying under the pretext of Honda hai to achchi hi hogi! and atleast bajaj bothered to introduce the 4 valve head in their bikes. name one bike from HH or HMSI that has 4 valves and can perform like the P135.Just don't get started on topics like these! And I can bet that you didn't maintain your classic as good. How many more threads are gonna be wasted like this?I want to say just one thing
IF YOU HATE EVERYTHING THAT BAJAJ LAUNCHES THEN JUST DON'T BOTHER COMMENTING IN THOSE THREADS!! makes sense ha?

                    Patience.. dude, have some patience.

Even with the old design, the Pulsars (just the Pulsars) are currently selling at around 80,000 units per month (much more than the total "motorcycle" sales of either HMSI or TVS or Yamaha or Suzuki).

And please do not comment anything about the R&D... coz we are just not qualified enough to do that.

i seriously don get people !! i mean they keep saying "parts fall of on a bajaj bike"" i mean seriously ??? did this happen to any one et all ?? then the 50000 odd pulsars brought every month by people are they all dumb ?? I DON THINK SO !! and hero honda with its legendray image wat not and reliabilty !! use the same engine in five bikes !! but since they are hero honda its k right ?? !! even multi colored rims and frames wat not !! these all are so called upgrades !!

and bajaj r&d is lazy ?? ok wat are the devlopements from hero honda from last 10 years ?? fi unit from honda !! multi colour paint jobs !! any thing else !! i missed out ??oh ya the special edition stickers !!

people go on and on abt only 20 cc difference in pulsars !! have u ridden them !! all ?? is riding a p150 and p220 same ?? try out once ul know the diffrence wat a puny 70cc can make !! and riding p135 and p180 same ?? discover 135 and p135 same ?? so on !!

and as for projectors on bike !! any one can do it as diy !! but wats the time and cost involved ?? does it have the same finish !! or relability !!if yes then awesome but a can a normal joe do projector at home !!?? tools ?? time !! etc think abt it !!

and coming to four valves !! is it as easy as boring two more holes in the head ?? like payeng said we are just not qualified enough to comment on such matters !!

this post is not directed at any one !! its jus my opnion !! from my experience with bajaj.

                              chill guys !!
Four wheels is transportation. Two wheels is attitude.
