sajjit is correct more or less now days all manufacturer use machine s to rewind a coil nowdays but an experianced rewinder will rewind in a way that no machine can,the biggest example is my coil, its 17 awg 12.8 foot per pole where a machine also struggles to get passed beyond 12 feet per pole that also with a thinner wire like 19 awg!!!!result?well the coil i am using is pumping out 12 amps from 3.5 k rpm,and i think thats pretty decent and oh yes its much of a lot safer then oem, using it for close to year now.
remember its hardly the coil goes kaput, mainly its the rr that konks off,and oh ya the ape one is a tough one.
True Doc...But I had rewound(hand wound) the coil on my KB 100 in 1991 to go full AC.With each layer I would coat the coil with Araldite.I had put in a an additional AC regulator to take care of it. Now my entire bike is AC and till now faced no problems with this modification. There is enough space in stators to do a Hand winding with higher SWG wire. Remember to apply Araldite...or better still FEVITITE RAPID EPOXY ,which heals in 10 minutes,on the winding to keep it tight and safe from corrosion.
The wire can be bought from any coil winding shop.Any difficulty for Chennai people..there is a wire selling shop near the T'Nagar Bus Terminus, who can give you any SWG wire even for less weight. The shop is opposite to Aruna hotel and name is Standard Electrical
      Hope this is helpful

AFAIK Ruby guy Mr.Kennedy doesn't agree for DC conversion. He is kind of hell bent to use AC/DC. This was my experience from last visit.

Complete DC conversion is more of DIY job.

Ruby is good if you want to run a higher watt bulb with just rewinding.

@Dr bhai - I need a info. I was communicating with a Chinese company to import 100w HID but they are telling the power consumed by 100w HID after stabilizing is 7amps. Start up power is 13amps. Can the ZMR withstand that load? Considering ZMR has just a tiny 6aH battery. I don't ve digital MM to measure the amps Help please

Can I use a 55/60W halogen bulb with just coil rewinding in my RTR???Won't I face any battery drain issues after that? Please shed some light on this.

Dude, you can visit Ruby once & they can help you with this.

I had got done coil rewinding from RUby in my Classic CBZ & put 90/100W on AC, they have been doing this from long time & they know this best.

Just talk to Kennedy & let him know your requirement & I am sure he will get done this.

Yes, you can run 55/60w with just rewinding. Go to Ruby and he will do the job.

7 amp is ok but the bike needs to be on and revvin over 2k.
the zmr is having better charger then zma , a bit more juice, and its tested upto 130/100 watt efficiency.but i strongly suggest go for a bigger battery if possible.i know its not easy as the space will be less.
do amp testing with a 100 watt halogen and see the load voltage over various rpms.this is the only way you can be sure.
ps.get a migital multimeter.a pro like u should have one or two in hand.its only below 200 inr.

@Shree, hey r u going to use 100W HID on the ZMR Hl? It would be too cruel man. Plus it would be a cop magnet too and not to mention get ready for the wild yells from everyone Or have u got any projector for ZMR/ Merc lens?

Drji, are you sure that ZMR will support a 90/100W? It comes with a 35W halo IIRC. Shree what do u say? ZMR comes with a 55/60W halo so the power house will also be a robust one but if ZMR is coming with a 35W how will it support? Like Drji said, test it with a 90/100W and go ahead with that. If its supports too, you will suffer low battery while low rpm drives with a puny battery.

Dont worry, that cap really suits for a " Ek Din ka Sultan"

100w HID doesn't come with a motorized bulb to switch between beams so I thought of getting Bi-Xenon Projector or ...... to put 100w HID in a aux lamp on handle bar to ruin the happiness of others and retain 35w HID in stock. That way I can play safe with battery too.

I had tried a 90/100w once but that was on a highway and the bike didn't had any hiccups.

To change battery to bigger one, negative. No place
Else I will have to plonk K&N and put bigger battery in filter box which I don't want to do.

OMG, Drji, this is too cruel. HIDs on Comet 450 Its one of the best pencil beams with a long distance spread. If u arm it with a HID then its an over kill Its so powerful even with a H3 55W so imagine with a HID

As a responsible rider you should not promote such mods IMHO. And I honestly wish some good Samaritan should take care of it soon.

My hands are itching to go for Hella on my bike but there are many Hella Specific thieves are here to snatch it within minutes even from a car. One of my friend lost his Comet 200 from his car within 2 weeks of installation and that too from a crowded public place within 10 mins.

But once u see the performance of this you'll die for it and the fear of getting stolen am backing from it. Anyways am thinking of another Hella FF50 as an aux lamp for my car which is very compact too.

                                Here's it:

                                See the beam spread pattern:

This is more than enough to screw the happiness of a casual high beam rider Lets forget the adamant morons for our happiness and safety sake. Once I had a bitter experience from a truck who was deliberately using all his 4X130W, I flashed my 2 spots which was aligned slightly above the normal height. Once I've finished 2-3 flashes he put another 2 more sets from the hood which was secretly installed and aimed parallel. I couldn't see a thing for a few secs and some how managed safely.

Set back will be 5k and the plus point is this one uses a H7 bulb so the beam spread quality is awesome than with a H3.

BTW, Comet 450 is too big for a bike IMO. But its like a laser beam in action with enough lighting up the surroundings.

Shree check with a 90/100 on city conditions before proceeding with a 100W HID, I think it may fry your battery at startup unless u dont keep the revs up.

You guys are sadistic nuts to go for a 100W HID on a reflector without that you can make any highbeam A$$ H@L@ with a good aux lamp with halos like Drji pointed out.
