Wanted to write a similar post myself.. After going thtough this post Thanked God that i didnt. Such a neat piece of well written post.. Especially the pun in the going to the hotel and eating as per the price part.. But i must say that youve decided the price much before you entered the hotel.. You entered the hotel based on what you can afford.. Not everyone heads to the five star before considering the budget.. A rough estimate before preparing the list is advisable to eliminate Ducati's in a below One lakh budget requirement :-)
    (just kidding)

Set the requirements and also the 'purpose'.
For some there is no requirement, need or expectation.. They just go for the bike based on purpose.
Young guns in college who will never ride a R15 above 6000 rpm have a hidden purpose which gets fulfilled by just posing next to the bike.. And many of these guys are not 'well of' guys.. Lower middle class students who buy these machines just to solve that purpose. You wont find them here.. They select bikes based on the bikes they see on the street.. This one looks good.. Let me force my parents to get this one.. They end up buying a bike like an r15 without knowing how many gears it comes with.
And there is no harm in this until the parent in discussion has to break two three FDs for this stupid rationale of buying a machine.
When buying a machine set the requirements considering the changes in your requirements for the next xyz months/ years. Where xyz is the number you would like to keep the machine for.. For some it can be a month for some it can be a lifetime.

      !

Unless it is for a friend who I have known for a few years at least, I usually ask him a few noob questions about bikes which makes them want to ask advice elsewhere or they end up so confused they give up the bike idea. No one lasted more than 6 mins. I do agree 6 mins of wasted time, but at most times it is fun .

+1 Aargee, your thread reflected my situation past 8months when I wanted to buy a bike..

Never I knew it or just came usually, I decided to go on with the purpose, rather than on budget, but restricted myself not to hit a lakh..

I'd shortlisted four bikes, three Japanese bikes and one INDIAN bike.. After an extensive research on these four bike, I finally decided to get my hands on GS150r..

To be honest, it fulfilled my purpose more than I expected..

I am completely satisfied with my bike...

Nice thought to bring this topic and I like your writing skill very much..

Here is my Story ... when i decided to buy a two wheeler for my self...

First of all, i choose my decision by my own never consult any daily user though i ask few opinions from bike enthusiastic (not fanatics) but experts ...

So when i decided to get a bike for me (Jan 2012) just generally i told everybody that i am looking for a new bike...

And everyone started giving there so call expert advice telling me to go for Unicorn, Platina, Pulsar135 & all without asking my requirements, need & Choice...

But then i did exactly same ... saw my requirement & list down bike names available at that time ...

And then saw which are the bike my heart is going for ... it was

          Apache
          Yamah R15

& then i saw my own limitation & went for Apache ..

Limitation was my Physic & my Daily need..... I Travel around 50km+ everyday to my Office ...
A General People always say what they looks at Road..they see Pulsar & Unicorn more on Road & without thinking they consult it to everybody ... without knowing whats there requirement ...

So go for your heart always ...

But One should not sacrifice his meets & requirement... if money is an issue then one should wait for more time then settling for something which is not giving you that Feel

Who cares about money these days? uh? Like giridhar said most people buy it coz they can afford, needles to say students. Parents offer it " You pass this exam with 90% I'm gonna get you an R15" and he'll pass it just for that R15, his dad never says "i'll get you an R15 if you ride it always wearing a helmet". I've seen it on the streets racing around on their R15's no helmet, no gloves nothing! There are some who really take it responsibly like most people in the forum here. Those days are over when people used to research on the bikes, or go to the SC to see their standard. I know a guy who owns a honda, he's got no idea how it works what they do during service. He was really happy when everyone suggested him Honda. Now he's out there cursing honda service. People now are influenced by marketing hype, words of friends, family!

Well said I would say. The first bike(RE Bullet) that my parents got me which was a second hand though was great but it was ok as I was only studying at that time. I used to take her only for about 100 kms /month. When I went for a job the scenario changed. I had to travel 45 kms and the beast was to much for my pocket. Then I decided to get my self a new bike. But since I was passionate about bike and knew about the rides too. I researched the market intensively on all accounts. Set my requirements - heavy bike, FE(40-45kms/lt), manuring in traffic and so on. Then I narrowed down on 1 st generation P150. I was so happy with my choice it lasted for 8 years and I never regretted on my choice.

Smile at everyone you meet and make someone happy.

Well In my opinion, it all boils down to what 'Moolah' you can put in for your ride. In may case, I got myself a Unicorn(first bike), when I started working and my sole intention was commuting. My liking has always been a thumper/cruiser, and just because I was not able to afford some extra bucks for Avenger(only cruiser in market then), I had to settle for Unicorn. Now don't you see anybody commuting to work in Avenger's!? Then when time came for my next bike, my favourite Harley's were in town, but my pocket was not deep enough. So I had to settle to RE Classic. Not that I dislike the RE, but still my heart longs for 'potatoe..potatoe..' maybe if I would have got myself one would I be regretting that decision now! no. Neverthless the choices that the current market offers is like, that people forget priority, requirement, budget and get something and always longs for somethng better.. I would say no biker is perfect for the ride he has unless he loves it.

Hopefully with the Indian biking scene growing over the last few years people's buying criteria will also evolve!
Proxy servers can solve many problems. Some people use them to bypass ISP restrictions on accessing sites. Others use them to provide anonymity for Internet surfing, others use proxies for business, such as data collection or market monitoring. I advise buy mobile proxy https://onlineproxy.io/ that allow for maximum efficiency.
