  • Misfit K&N. How to install ??

Guys, my dad had gone to Bangalore for some days ...taking the opportunity, I told him to bring a K&N Air Filter from there ...

I told him to get R1060 ... he got RC 1060 ... the conical one!!

As you know, Pulsar 180 has a Square Shaped Air Box...

Now, My Query is:--> How do I fit this Conical K&N to my Pulsar 180 UG3 Square Box ??

Can I Change the Air Box into Conical one or should I break the K&N steel-net cone and try installing it ...

I have searched, checked this topic :--> http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/desi-bik...dont-miss.html

Found nothing relevant ... Please help Xbhp's guys ... I genuinely need it!

Get rid of the stock air filter and fit it directly on carb..

^ Isn't that what you've done on the Gun?

Fit "What" on the carb directly ? You mean fit the Conical K&N Filter "directly" on the carburetor ??

Somehow, I can't imagine what your message is ... How will that happen??

Any ideas or Images to help me out ... Please ... Thanks!

That pic is not my bike's! I got it off the net.

Well, increased air flow is what you are looking for right? I personally haven't tried the K&N filters, but it is known to give a slight improvement in performance and only if you increase the main jet size.

                    @samarth

what you need to do is

                    remove whole of the airbox
take a small bend pipe (rubber pipe from the airbox will do)
and connect it to the carb .. also you need to make a whole in the pipe and fit the breather pipe which is originally connected to the airbox

this pic of my bike may help you

@ hyper: Dude, this would have worked for Classic Pulsars .. mine is UG3, with sealed Air box ...

                        @ winzeee:
Yes, because the Airbox is removed and there is adequate space ...

                        ---
                        @ the madrussian:
Yes, I understood what you meant ... but will it be durable?

After this, is rejetting necessary? and lastly, what are bad effects, like overheating, etc.?

                        Kindly reply .... Thanks!

re-jetting will be great ! it will give you good performance .. though mileage will come down after doing so..

there are no bad effects of KnN as long as it is installed properly

last week someone unplugged my filter and loads of dust entered my engine.. then i got my engine flushed.. i used the air vent pipe from bullet to fit it again

so no worries as long as it is installed properly

Bro, I'm almost on the verge of installing it. Last 2 Queries:-->

                            1. Is that blue Pipe already inside my bike, or to be purchased seperately?
and where is the other end of this pipe attached, is it on the Carbuerettor?

                            2. Side Panel can be closed ... But, Can it be LOCKED, since air box is removed here?

I'm really thankful for your help so far ... Kindly answer these 2 questions too, bro ...

If the box is covered then it can be locked,if not then a side welding of small part is needed...
