That is perfectly OK. That 40V is the spikes from the stock RR unit. Connect it to the battery, now measure the voltage. It should now not cross 14.x V even after a minute or 2. Also, a capacitor is not something to be played with. Do not connect and disconnect the rectifier with the engine ON. Let us know.Originally posted by kauria View PostYour biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Ok, thanks,Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostThat is perfectly OK. That 40V is the spikes from the stock RR unit. Connect it to the battery, now measure the voltage. Now one my friend suggests that this circuit is wrong and he suggest me that I should connect the –AC input as per the picture. And he connect the same and we test it, we got the 40-42 volt DC output, but after disconnecting the same the output is just half say 20-22 volt DC. Now he suggests that this way the complete bridge rectification process is done. Kindly suggest.
He also suggests me to put a charging circuit after this DC converting process, which will charge the battery as per the requirement. Things make complicated to me.
Another question, capacitor shows a temp unit printed in its body, in my case its 85 degree C. What does it mean, does it withstand up to 85 d c. I found that it was very hot in within 5 minutes.
Please help.

One thing, what is last diode end connected to?
BTW, I suggest a simple circuit for you.
RR Unit AC o/p pin ------------> Diode anode
Same Diode cathode ------------> Battery +ve.
H/L wire from RR unit AC o/p is disconnected and connected to the Batt +ve.
Got it? Just a single diode. Let me know.
And yeah cap limit is 85 deg C. There is some theory behind this, but will take some time to explain.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

One diode to boost charging? No bridge?Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostOne thing, what is last diode end connected to?

Will it..........?

As i said long funda. One diode will basically create a half wave rectifier. A 4 diode bridge rectifier on the other hand is a full wave one. But the stator light coil should not be grounded to use it as a full wave rectifier. As it is already grounded, it works as a half wave rectifer only. So, i suggested him to use a half wave rectifier diectly. Atleast circuit is easier to make. But you loose 50% efficiency too.
Best is 4 diode bridge rectifier with ungrounded lighting coil. I have explained it in short form.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Wow, is it so simple?Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostOne thing, what is last diode end connected to?

I dont think, this will help, cause the diode will heat up very fast, and soon will got burn, well i will check and let u know.
Thanks
Check the pic, did u mean this?

Still wonder why it didnt happend to ur case. When I tried a bridge to the light wire from RR, the light wire heats up as if I shorted the wire. I couldnt even check the outputOriginally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostWow! A cute diagram there!
Use 6A4 diode. Didn't heat up in my case. Try it out and see.

May be, but I changed the RR only, no other modsOriginally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostDude, must be a wiring problem. Else, I can not really say!

Nice start, u could've done the rewinding first and see the result atleast for the confirmation of AC lighting.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostGot a new APE RR Unit yesterday night. Waiting for the weekend to work on my Uni.
Fingers crossed
