Hi @NomadicRider , To simply put, following are important:Originally posted by NomadicRider View PostDear All,
I am planning to do Saddle Sore 1600K ride in near future on my Royal Enfield Elctra 4S.
I went through the rules and regulations on IBA website. But I am still little confused. The main part that concerns me is during the ride is it mandatory to stop at particular interval and acquire the fuel receipts? Some people say that I have to stop at every 200Kms and feel up some fuel in my bike and acquire the receipt for the same. Where as the rules and regulations on official website does not say anything about it. It mentions a mandatory stop at 600Kms.
Please guide me about making my ride more authentic for Saddle Sore 1600K certification.
Thanks n Regrads.
Nomadic Rider.
1. Starting and Ending point should have electronic fuel receipts with both time and date ( if possible preferably with bike registration number)
2. Must have a fuel receipt before every 500 K ms. What is 500 K ms for us may not be 500 K ms for IBA. So, I suggest to fuel up every 400 kms and also keep fuel receipts safely. No need to fuel up every 200 Kms. As ride progresses you may notice that fuel efficiency drops drastically. So, your refueling frequency may increase. No matter what get a fuel receipt wherever you refuel.
3. Fuel receipts that one obtains between starting and ending points must have date and time. It can be manual at times. If you obtain manual receipt for any reason, please mention the reason why you had to obtain a manual receipt. IBA definitely considers and acknowledges it.
4. Please make a note of odometer readings and distance between each fuel receipt. Your log sheet should match with your fuel receipts and maps that you submit to IBA.
Take care of the above and you are through. What the heck, this is not an exam. Any which ways enjoy your ride. For any reason, please do not push if you feel it's beyond your reach. I dont know whether I am the right person to preach, safety first and this is not an Olympics medal. Please do it for your own sake and satisfaction.
I wish you many joyful rides. Wish you all the best for your saddle sore attempt. May good luck be on your side

@bhargavramaOriginally posted by bhargavrama View Posthey experimentalhead I was planning to do saddle sore on my RTR 180. Same route. Advice needed
Sorry for delayed reply. Buddy, Following are vital for Saddle sore attempt:
1. Fitness: Bike's and yours, very important. Post bike-servicing, take ir for a spin just to ensure everything in place, for around 200 to 300 Kms. Get your sleep cycle right.
2. Route: Since you are doing it on Bangalore-Pune-Bangalore, that's a right choice. I came to know that road-repair is completed in most of the places and road is in good condition with less diversions.
3. Time you start and finish is very important. You need to keep in mind the traffic conditions while leaving and entering Bangalore. I started in the night at 10.35 PM. However, that depends on you.
4. Certain stretches are critical for you to complete Saddle sore on this route. Ex: Belgaum to Kolhapur, Davanagere to Hubli (in the night, asolutely no traffic, at least when I rode though). You make use of these stretches while going and coming, you are doing yourself a great favor. These stretches were mesmerizing.
5. Carry plenty of liquids, dates and chocolates. And, drink and eat while fueling your ride up.
6. Saddle sore does not mean over speeding. To be honest, it's all about your stamina and endurance of being on a bike and riding continuously for hours and hours.
7. Please keep in mind Indian road conditions, traffic, intersections, Idiots on the road are not at all conducive for saddle sore. So, please do not focus on speed. Lesser breaks during ride, more chances of completing the ride successfully.
8. Very important, do not push hard. At any point you feel like ride is beyond your reach. Stop it. Relax and assess, and if you truly believe you can achieve it, pursue. Otherwise, it's still worth a ride.
9. never forget safety of yours and bike's is more important than achieving this ride.
10. All the best buddy. Oh...I forgot, ensure that you get electronic receipts at every fuel station with date and time on it and make a note of the kilometers on odometer at every fuel stop, as this should match your log sheet which you will present to IBA. Electronic fuel receipts with time and date are a must at starting, turning and ending points.
Best of luck buddy
Safety is the most important aspect. Do not forget. Ride safe.

First of all congratulations on successfully completing saddle sore
Do not worry about payment now.
Right now, go ahead and submit documents first. You can submit documents either through post or through email. Please do not mail through register post. IBA do not accept register post. and posting takes lot of time due to the process involved to deliver your ordinary post. Hence, email scanned copies of your documents and this consumes less time.
Once you submit your documents, wait till you get an email from IBA stating the status of your certification and this may take anywhere between one month to three months.
Once your ride is certified, IBA will email you the price for certificate, badge, number plates and stickers. For me it cost around Rs 2600 last year. Pay through Paypal. That's the best option. Once you make the payment, in ten days you will get your certificate and other rewards.
After all this, wait for about three to five months for your name to be updated on IBA website.
Don't get disheartened buddy with this lengthy process.
All the best
