Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Its ok..ab keh diye to dekh lete hai btw since we are on this topic, i am indeed planning to do a saddlesore 1600 and i would like to thank petrolhead_chn for showing me the light . Although it is darn true that with the increased deterioration of road conditions in India, it is difficult to do the saddlesore, but then saddlesore is something that would need planning and preparations, both mentally and physically and most importantly u need to make sure ur bike is on top notch . btw experimentalhead, i am planning to travel from Bangalore-Pune (roughly 800kms) and back thus trying to accomplish saddlesore 1600..and i have been keeping an eye on google as well as some blogs here and it seems the road is good and this can be accomplished

I did my saddle sore on Bangalore-Pune-Bangalore route. Trust me I never caused any inconvenience to anyone. I did rip my bike for first time ever but only on those stretches where it did not feel like 120 Kmph and there was no traffic whatsoever. When I did my saddle sore on that route, there was lot of construction work and lot of diversions which made it next to impossible to be on higher speeds consistently. So, I had my breaks (eating, taking nature calls etc.) only whenever I stopped for refueling as high speed is not my forte. What I hear is now the stretch is superb as all the construction work is over and there are very less diversions. Saddle sore is more about the rider than the ride. of course it's nevertheless important to have a reliable ride. But after certain point it's all about rider. I repeat nothing is more precious than life, both ours and others. IBA certificate is nothing in front of safety. Push yourself only to a certain extent, but not beyond when mind fails. Once mind says no. Stop it. There are certain stages where mind must rule over heart.

Buddy, You both need to submit separate documents.

                  Documents needed are:

                  1. Electronic fuel receipts at starting, turning and ending point with time, date and if possible bike registration number. Please check if e-receipts facility is available before ordering fuel.
                  2. In between wherever you stop for fuel, you need to get electronic receipts preferably.
                  3. There are certain petrol bunks which do not provide e-receipts. You can take manual receipts with date, time and bike number mentioned by petrol station in charge.
                  4. You can also submit ATM receipts as proof for starting, turning and ending points. But, try to avoid this and stick to electronic fuel receipts. ATMs sometimes do not generate receipts.
                  5. You have to take print out of log sheet, witness and application forms from IBA site.
                  6. Please ensure that time on your log sheet matches with time on the fuel receipts.
                  7. Also, ensure that odometer reading is also in sync with your log sheet.
                  8. You can submit the forms and proofs either via email or by ordinary post. IBA do not accept speed or registered post.
                  9. Once your ride is certified, normal time frame is anywhere between one month to four months, you will get an email from IBA about payment details.
                  10. Best way to pay is through Paypal. Within 10 days from your payment you will get your certificate and other material. Within next three months your name will be on their website

Above mentioned information is based on personal experience.

All the best. Ride safe. IBA certificate is not at all important than your's and others' safety on road.

You are right my friends. IBA rides need meticulous planning. It's not like ' I am bored. let me do Saddle sore'. You need to plan and take lot of small-but-critical factors into serious consideration. Route, starting point, turning point/ ending point, petrol stations which issue e-receipts, weather, traffic conditions, bike condition, physical fitness, breaks to point out a few. All the best folks.

Mate with the correct attitude towards your goal you can achieve anything you want..... that's what I believe.... I don't believe too much in planning.... It never works out for me... There is a famous saying from an hindi movie Jannat.... "Jo insan sochta hai woh sochta hi rah jata hai". That means if you think or plan to much you will keep on thinking.... so that's why I don't believe in thinking or playing a lot... for me if you want to do it.. just do it...
