it may drain your battery in long run so i would not recommend this, if you do not travel in night then stick with your stock bulb only.Originally posted by mudit_seh View PostBut i wanted to not to convert it as I donot travel at night and its just for showoff like 20mins to 1hr max..will it drain the battery in this much time only???
it will work but battery will get discharged.Originally posted by mudit_seh View PostLike the mechanics just do by connecting the wire directly with battery..will it do???Last edited by rprathin; 02-13-2013, 12:21 AM.Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

then don't put hid without dc conversion as use of around 15 minutes hid everyday will discharge battery in long runOriginally posted by mudit_seh View PostUmm..6 to 10 km at an average day as my college is very near to my home!!!Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

the headlight which is stock and you are using runs on ac it has no relation to the battery but hid will work on dc i.e. your battery so if you will take current(load) from battery which is more than the giving the current to the battery (charging) this will result in discharge of batteryOriginally posted by mudit_seh View PostAnd what about if it is a normal HID like of 35w or so which is similar to headlight rating???
35 watt hid consumes around 3.2 amps after warm up and your charging rates of battery would be around 1.2-1.6ampsLast edited by rprathin; 02-13-2013, 12:40 AM.Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

But cant it be like we dont run headlight in day..so I can run on HID at night but in day the battery will get charged upduring the interval of my ride??? and I also saw somewhere that the mechanics fit a charger with the ac wires for headlight and connect it with battery for it to gain extra voltage..is it also an option???Originally posted by rprathin View Postthe headlight which is stock and you are using runs on ac it has no relation to the battery but hid will work on dc i.e. your battery so if you will take current from battery which is more than the charging this will result in discharge of battery

this is known as parallel charging in which 2 chargers charges battery at the same time it is not the safe or reliable option it has tried by many and failed, i would suggest against this setup this setup this may lead to undesired results may be damaging your battery, rr.Originally posted by mudit_seh View PostBut cant it be like we dont run headlight in day..so I can run on HID at night but in day the battery will get charged upduring the interval of my ride??? and I also saw somewhere that the mechanics fit a charger with the ac wires for headlight and connect it with battery for it to gain extra voltage..is it also an option???
this setup does not include any voltage regulator, it only includes a diode. Voltage may go high with the increase in rpm which would kill your cdi as it is dc or may damage your any electrical in your bike.Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

Okay!! thanks for this info I would never go for any of these..But I badly need an HID and cant find an alternative without dc conversion..pls suggest any if it is there...also please tell the cost and any disadvantages for dc conversion??? Thanks for ur replies and ur help newaysOriginally posted by rprathin View Postthis is known as parallel charging in which 2 chargers charges battery at the same time it is not the safe or reliable option it has tried by many and failed, i would suggest against this setup this setup this may lead to undesired results may be damaging your battery, rr.

if you just want to use 35 watts hid then go for ungrounding the coil and pulsar ug4 rr which cost is 450 INR.Originally posted by mudit_seh View PostOkay!! thanks for this info I would never go for any of these..But I badly need an HID and cant find an alternative without dc conversion..pls suggest any if it is there...also please tell the cost and any disadvantages for dc conversion???
