Please chuck Castrol and use some other oil. There are too many castrol fakes out nowadays.Originally posted by mudit_seh View Post

Plug seems fine so carb is good i suppose , do u feel any hiccups or lack of fuel while sudden accel ? Also clean air filter and do this as soon as u hit reserve go to nearest bunk and fill exactly 1L in a bottle and fill it in bike . Drive in highways if possible and post mileage here . The sense behind bottle is you can actually see 1 litre of fuel for yourself .

well seems a great idea if possible I will do it soon...well I guess I know the mileage. Once a month back the bike fuel went off at home only. I filled 100rs petrol from there nearly 1.4l came and den after 4 days again it went off completely :P hehe so the bike ran 40kms in total as noted. And it was very low mileage i suppose. And regarding hiccups, the bike gives slight hiccup when accelerating suddenly in neutral from idle like during some instant hard revving during idle..And sometimes a slight hiccup while accelerating suddenly same the hard running at low gear. Does it have anything to do with the bike I mean is there smthing seriously wrong??? thanx for above replies shed some light on this too!!!Originally posted by RohIIT View PostPlug seems fine so carb is good i suppose , do u feel any hiccups or lack of fuel while sudden accel ? Hiccup generally shows improper carb tune. You should not have touched carb's tuning . Nevertheless , get the carb tuned from a experienced mechanic preferably from head mech from svc . But your plug shows good mix , so i would suggest you do the petrol fill method i told and post mileage here .

okay! But I first got it tuned from the svc centre only I havent ever touched the tuning!! ANd their is a prob in your suggested method as I am a college student so I dont go to highways a lot and alone driving wud be a bit difficult without a friend :P So can u please suggest something from the average I mentioned above because it was taken nearly a month back and I dont think in a month something has changed in my bike! So if u can then please suggest me some method as this is really annoying me now about the bike not performing to utmost in the average dept. thanx for ur concern againOriginally posted by RohIIT View PostHiccup generally shows improper carb tune. but isnt their the possibility of something other dan carb tuning I mean something else may have gone wrong in the bike???

At what speeds do you drive ? And did you do proper run in of your bike ?

Actually my college is very near to my home only 3kms away! So cant speed up much and all the distance is majorly from residencial areas so too much of clutch and brakes!!! But I guess I did my run in properly never exceeded 5k RPM and slightly ripped the bike after 850kms after 2nd service i guess! And den after 2nd service I asked from the svc guy that can I now rip my bike, so he said I can now do anything with it as 2nd svc is done and after 1000kms I started ripping the bike! Did a redline only once till 10k RPM and never exceeded 8k RPM before changing gears. So, would have there been a problem?? And did I damaged the engine???Originally posted by RohIIT View PostAt what speeds do you drive ? And did you do proper run in of your bike ?

Hey same with me , mine college is just 1.5km away . Your run in is good i suppose . Okay try this , fill ur bike by bottle method and try to drive in empty roads at constant speed of 50kmph . Roads are generally empty in early mornings . So try this , else each svc has a mileage test equipment . What they do is extract petrol from your bike in a graduated vessel and connect it to your carb , so that petrol flows from vessel to carb and then they drive as smoothly as possible and calculate mileage by km/amount of fuel in vessel.

okay! I will try to do so..By the way can it be the problem that due to very much clutch and break use and frequent gear shiftsd during my college run, I am no tgetting the desired mileage??? or is this something other problem?Originally posted by RohIIT View PostHey same with me , mine college is just 1.5km away . Yep it can be , but 32 is too low , you should be able to get atleast 40kmpl.

okay! thats wat m saying naa i mean if not 40 but 35 will do and im not even getting 32 and I can bet on it because I have been to some distant rides of 20km or so! So, I can bet that the average is too low so can u now suggest something I shall do or ask the svc guy to do as my next svc is due on this 25th of april so that I can ask them to do so there!!!Originally posted by RohIIT View PostYep it can be , but 32 is too low , you should be able to get atleast 40kmpl.

Ok , try carb tuning by yourself. You can get the procedure in my signature , dont know whether it is same for apache. All i can suggest is get your bike examined by a competent and good mechanic in your city . Its difficult but not impossible

Okay! thank you for all the info..Originally posted by RohIIT View PostOk , try carb tuning by yourself. You can get the procedure in my signature , dont know whether it is same for apache. But one thing that is worrying me that is it possible that the engine piston or something else may have been screwed by which I am getting low mileage..because tuning carb is easy but replacing piston and ol wud cost a hefty sum!! although Im not getting any white smoke etc from exhaust and pickup is crisp nd fine too!! But still wanted to clear this doubt!!!
