Well my bike's only a week old & done about 260 kms. as of now, I haven't yet tried for the top speed, but I've taken her till about 90 kmph, in the first 100 kms. itself. As of now there are no issues with the bike & hope there's nothing in the future too.
Hey Sori dude, i guess you own an RTR FI coz u seem pissed!
Its in Auto Bike, Pct-Nov issue not sure but when i say FZ16 is better than the RTR FI it mean on the over all. Every things counted, performance, comfort, reliability ..... etc
I have test riden the RTR and trust me i rate it better than the FZ16 but the only reason i didnt buy it is becos i felt kinda cramped on that bike.
And regarding the FZ16 not going up a hill with a pillion is not exaclty true as i have touched 100kmhp up a hill with a pillion.
I have a Karizma Bro. I din intend to seem pissed, my bad.
All that i wanted to say is that RTR-Fi will out perform the FZ in terms of performance.
Dude Its being 3 months Riding FZ-16..There was initially a problem of MISSING, but it got tuned after the 1st service..My machine is giving mileage of around 38-40 Km/litre..& I have touched to 123 top speed & actually its doing preety good.
can you please help me. how can i get that speed
usully i shift the gears at 5000-6000 RPM
is it enough to get the topspeed ?
if not, what will be the perfect RPM(to shift gear) to get topspeed.

Shifting at 8000 RPM will give you max performance on fz16. max power on fz is 14ps@7500RPm. Power band begins at 6000RPM. So its a bad idea to shift gears here unless you are mileage hungry.
And as far as i know accurate gear shifts help you reach the top end quickly, but doesn't make a difference in top end as such.
I have a Yamaha FZ16 which is almost 3 months old with 3 services completed. Initially it had a mojor problem where in the bikes top speed was only 94-95kms. After a lot of complains it was fixed how ever now my bikes mileage has dropped to almost 25-28kms/ltr under normal city riding. Is any one else also facing the same mileage related issue? What can be done to increase its mileage? What is the FZ16's top speed? By the way i also had a faulty meter which went dead in about 20 days of purchase but it was replaced at no charge.
I would like to know the following:
1. How was the run-in done? If it was wrongly done, then no one can help your bike.
2. Where did you get it serviced?
To me this looks like a wrong carb setting, which can easily be rectified.
Pearl Gachibowli is good with servicing, provided you have a personal touch, which, fortunately I do.
I suggest you take it there&mention my name.
hi guys..im new to xbhp..i have a 8 month old FZ16..it has done 6000+kms..its a great piece of machinary...Q..the head lock assembly gets loose often..the two screws holding them gets loose when i ride over rough roads..i tighten them using my fingers...cause the screws are not ordinary screw or star screw..its like a star screw with a projection in the middle..this problem started a month back..and every week i take my bike to service centre to tighten it but it gets loose when i ride it on rough roads..today im goin to service center to tighten it..im goin to ask the guy to replace the assembly if the threads have gone...do any of you have/had face this problem??

same problem here.. i got them tightened at the dealer but they loosened again in a month..yamaha shud've given a spring washer in them to stop this from repeating .. i plan to replace them with allen key bolts so than i can tighten them myself..
hi yamdoot...yesterday i went to service centre to tighten the screws...the mechanic replaced those screws with 10mm bolts..now the lock assy holds good..did'nt get loose till now..will report after a week of hard riding..

The normal bolts hold good than the stock idiotic star shaped ones. A friend of mine had the same problem. I somehow managed to remove the two star headed idiot bolts and installed 10mm ones and it hasn't loosened at all.
