        Re: Issues with the FZ16

        Hi Guyz,

I am new to this thread, I own a FZ-S which is less than two month old, had done it's first servicing exactly after a month of purchase and after driving 950kms. Also, during the run-in period drove the bike to 65kmph and kept throttle less than 5k. After first servicing I tried to take bike to 100kmph and bike never disappoints in handling on highway or in traffic, I love this bike in every sense. The only problem I face is whenever I throttle and then release the throttle, the BIKE MAKES A WEIRD SOUND AS IF THERE IS PEBBLE JUMPING IN THE EXHAUST or can be also compared with SMALL CRACKING SOUND(appears twice or thrice each time). I cannot make out if its misfire or something wrong in the combustion chamber. I took the bike to service center and he tried everything from cleaning carburetor, carburetor tuning, cleaning spark plug and even replacing the exhaust pipe completely, but the weird sound prevails. Now, I began to think that sound is coming from combustion chamber inside engine. I just want to know, if there is anyone else who has faced this problem and if someone has been able to solve it. Any suggestion are too thankful.

Please suggest guyz, I am tensed as my bike is already going operations everyday

Finally, the issue is solved. I took the bike to a different service center. There they kept bike with them for a week. After a week long of hard troubleshooting for mechanics, they finally found that the culprit was SPARK PLUG, they changed it and irritating misfire sound is just gone. Now my bike feels the same as before.

          Happy riding everyone

              Re: Issues with the FZ16

              Hii Frineds,

I am using FZ from past 5 years and with a couple of 100KM I will be completing 60,000 km. These days I am facing lots of problems with it. I have spent RS6000 in a three months of time just to keep my bike fit. I ma facing problems with mileage & engine performance.
Can anyone tell me hat kind of carburetor does Fz has, mine is 2010model., Because yamaha mechanic says my bike has a issue with a sensor in my carburetor & because of it I have to change whole carburetor before it blows my engine to its worse state.
My bike gives around 40 to 45km per Rs100 petrol and its not constant it falls below 40km some times.
I am in a serious trouble & need some real help to repair my bike.
Can any one suggest what I can do to save my bike.

                Re: Issues with the FZ16

Fz16 waala public!!! what is the cruising speed of the bike when on long tours. Can the bike take the speeds of 90-100 continously..? If not what should be the optimum speed where the bike is stress free. Now I do know that 80% of the bike's potential you can use as they develop the max power and torque in that range. But I am interested in actual figures.

                Cheers,
                Sanjay

                  Re: Issues with the FZ16

I dont know about cruising speed but we can go at 90-100 speeds continuously. when you are driving single you can go up to 110km/hr speeds more than that it depends on road conditions and our control on the bike. I drove my bike up till 110 when I was driving alone & doubles my bike reached 116, that's the maximum speed I think FZ could reach.

The stock FZ can cruise between 80-85 all day long. That's its stress free zone, beyond that it starts losing steam and upon hitting 90+ sustained continuously, the engine starts to grunt and run harsh. I don't give a crap about top speed but it can reach a top whack of 110 but takes ages to reach there.

I own one and was dejected at its fast-ish cruising capabilities. So went ahead and modded it with a 15t front sprocket, K&N, iridium plug, split firing cable and lastly, clutch plates from the Cbr 250r. Now it cruises around 95 all day and hits 100 before 7200RPM (which is 80% of your redlining 9000RPM)

                      Hello,

Can anyone help me with my FZ problem. I am facing some serious trouble with my bike.
Firstly my bike is almost completed 60,000km, its engine is running smooth.
FZ has a red indicator which is related to carburetor, and its glowing, I showed to mechanic & he told it has a problem with some sensor related to fuel regulation and carburetor has to be changed because that sensor could not be changed.
Is it true that whole carburetor has to be changed in such case.
What if I replace my carburetor with fuel injection system, can it improve my bikes performance and mileage.
Another problem I am facing is, When I am riding at constant speeds I am feeling like my bike is jumping and its worse when it is in reserve condition.

Someone please help me out with my problem.

I have a Yamaha FZ16 which is almost 3 months old with 3 services completed. Initially it had a mojor problem where in the bikes top speed was only 94-95kms. After a lot of complains it was fixed how ever now my bikes mileage has dropped to almost 25-28kms/ltr under normal city riding. Is any one else also facing the same mileage related issue? What can be done to increase its mileage? What is the FZ16's top speed? By the way i also had a faulty meter which went dead in about 20 days of purchase but it was replaced at no charge.
