Sure, I will follow the run-in procedure....

Yeah, apart from the engine rework, clutch plates, rockers and few other essential internal parts are also being replaced. I think I will be getting my bike today evening. I will surely convey your message to our mechanic for adjusting the tappets..

    Thanks,
    Naveen

Sorry navin.smg to hijack your thread.
out of curiosity i am asking a question which i always think.
Is there will be any change in the BHP/Torque of the bike as we are changing the size of the piston in bore process?

Even I was also wondering whether there would be any change in CC or performance as the size of bore and piston is increased during the rebore process.

        Experts input please?

There is no discernable difference. The cc increase is too little to affect anything.

Re: White SMOKE!!! Pulsar 150 UG4 on 45k run

If the rebore is a big bore kit say like a 150 cc bike bored to 165 cc then the difference is noticable and requires carb changes etc and a lot more....
Here a first oversize piston is used and the existing block is bored to a smoother finish to match the new piston size, the cc increment is very less hence not noticable.

Re: White SMOKE!!! Pulsar 150 UG4 on 45k run

The first thing needed with a big bore is a bigger head. Just a bigger piston actually reduces performance.

If just boring out would have increased power, the first thing ppl wld have done is to put the biggest os available. A rebore returns the compression to normal and gives new like performance once the piston and valves settle down.

He just asked about the bore hence that reply....
I heard some xbhp member had an esteems piston and a ported head on a fiero?... who was it?

Re: White SMOKE!!! Pulsar 150 UG4 on 45k run

Got my bike yesterday and it seems good except the hard gear play and more heat generating from the engine which I think will be fine after a couple of rides.

I can already feel the engine power though I'm not riding beyond 40 KMH. Mechanic said that he has kept the tappets and few other things a bit loose, so that everything gets settled down and he asked me to get it everything checked and serviced after 750 KMS. Expecting a huge bill today.

I do not recall. But tvs fiero genius Mr. Venugopal was known for doing such experiments. He even built a 300cc twin cylinder fiero and a 250cc supercharged fiero.

Congratulations. Take it easy for the 1st 500 kms as the piston and rings need time to settle. Then start putting a bit of load on engine for a few seconds and see if the engine is getting smoother. During run in, do not cross 4000rpm for more than a few seconds.

No idea buddy... When he was doing all this i was still a kid. Many great tuners and inventors exist from those days. Like Mr. Rohinton chinoy, Mr. Vivek jaychandran, Mr. Somedra singh, Mr. Venugopal etc. My generation cant even hold a candle to guys from that generation.

The mechanic had given the estimated cost of 6k for the service but now I'm shocked to see this huge bill.

Is he taking me for a ride?

Had a heated argument with him and not paid the bill yet

Seems ok to me. Generally major engine work comes around 5k.
