    I'm from Bangalore.
    He had shown me only few parts worth around 1.8k. (clutch plates, rings, gaskets, rockers etc). No idea where did other parts come into picture. I've doubt about the first one, engine bearings which were not shown to me earlier. I feel like I'm being cheated....

    ll be talking to the shop owner tomorrow

      Con rod change, crank reset and main bearing change is done at the ledh shop, so he would not have the old bearings as the ledh guy would be having them.

        Yeah, your mechanic is indeed taking you for a ride. Again, it is a rebore, not a replacement IIRC.

            For 8 k you could have got complete block piston change,,.,
            Slapbhim around and get the price down.
            Imo a rebore shouldn't cost anywhere above 3 to 4 k.

              IMHO the only needed work was a top end rebuild, even with a new bore kit it should cost around 4K. The mechanic split the case unnecessarily I think, the con rod does not develop much of a sidewise play at only 45k kilometers and if it did, OP would notice far more problems than just "white" smokes.

                    It is unfair to pronounce judgement on a person without actually seeing the engine. If the engine has actually been worked on as it says in the bill, i think the price is a bit more, but I wont go far as saying that hes looting you.

                    Ride the bike, if you think nothing much has changed then charge him. Or else i wld say that use your better judgement.

                      As per my understanding, reboring work is done at a lathe shop in JC Road, Bangalore. Engine is rebored with a matching sized piston, valve head has been reset and crank shaft which had come a bit loose has been reset as well. As for as the engine work is concerned, I've no complaints except the hard gear/clutch play and over heating issues (rode 80kms). I had asked the shop owner to rework on the bill and get back but I'm yet to get a call from him.


                      Another exciting news is that, got my new bull delivered today after a 5 months of waiting period!

                      Yeah, it's RE Classic 350

                        Dear Friends,

                        I am in chennai and my HH Super Splendor clocked 55K kms is having problems of heavy white smoke and engine oil is getting spent very much. ASC quoted around 7K and mentioned that bore needs to be changed. Shown to some streetside mechanics and everyone tells same thing bore is gone and either reboring or change is to be done. One mechanic near my home quoted 5k for reboring. Now I am worried whether really the bore is gone kaput or the mechanics are just assuming. Does white smoke and engine oil getting spent too much are signs of kaput bore or just some oil seal / piston ring or other minor part is gone kaput.

                        Can i just believe the ASC and let them do the bore job? I will post a pic of my bike engine bore and there is heavy oil deposits on the front.

                        As I am in chennai I feel more secure in going to ASC and getting ripped of royally if required rather than go to roadside mechanic and get cheated. Shall i tell the ASC to open the engine analyze and then tell me the repair process? But even ASC staff is telling that bore needs to be changed.

                            Sorry, I couldn't update about my Pulsar as I was quite busy in exploring my new bike....it looks like the mechanic shop owner is happy with 5K which I had given it as advance..I called them twice and even went there once to close the case but he was not available and the mechanic told me that he would get back to me but nobody has ever called me till now...so, I have to assume that he isn't interested in taking the additional money...I'm happy to pay what he had quoted earlier but 8.2 k is just unacceptable.

                            As for as the bike is concerned, it is running smooth (of course I'm riding it gently and rarely).....no more white smoke, engine heat also is back to normal...I'm finding it very difficult to balance after riding RE for 15 days .

                                Take a parts list from the mechanic for a nee bore....
                                Buy the parts from a dealer and pay the mechanic for labour....

                                I have discover 135 sports 2007 model and covered 50,000km.i have ripped it in all the gears and it still perform good but it start consuming engine oil from around 25000km i am still using it and covered 50000km with this problem but now it producing black smoke when throttle goes over 7000rpm.no white smoke and it consume engine oil every 750km when i am driving more than 75kmph speed.what could be the reason and if i get bike engine work done can i get the stick performance or i sell it.i am getting 22000for it.
