  • Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

    Hi guys,
    I am akshay from dehradun.
I have been riding bikes for about 15k kms .
Yesterday I dropped out of my college to follow my passion of riding and to explore.
Can you guys help me by telling me how I can transform this passion of mine as my career by joining any motorcycle tour company in India.
Can you guys share your knowledge on this and guide me.
As I don't know my step ahead.
What should I do now and where should I go??

    Approved!

To get any job you need a valid degree. Go back to college now and finish your education.

    Welcome to the forum!

Sent from my phone. Kindly avoid it while riding.

Dropping off from college is not the best thing to do.

Unless youre exceptionally talented and are sponsored to become a moto gp racer

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

College dropouts may have been able to do great things in the past but in todays technical world it doesn't work.

Besides you'll need an engineering degree atleast to go legit as a racer or a rally rider in the biking scene. Without formal education you'll not even be able to grasp half the technical stuff about bikes snd trust me riding talent alone (provided you're exceptional at it) will not get you very far as you need a working knowledge of inertial physics for better riding. Cruising, commuting and those college street races don't need that much skill. But to make a career in biking you'll need exceptional knowledge and dropping out doesn't help that.

You only have 15k kms worth of experience, I have 16yrs worth of experience in biking. I still consider myself an upper level amateur at best so your a novice comparetively.

Go back to college. Trust me you can fuel your biking passion while getting an education. Its not that hard, especially if you have the will to do it.

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

              Touring compaanies ?
There are loads of career option in tourism industry but then you have to be a entrepreneur because you are without a degree.

Biking is a good passion but only few lucky like our xbhp owners make their earnings from their passion believe me its real hard and they were software coders so that helped them too.

My advice would be as you have already left your college instead of looking for career option without an degree become a entrepreneur (there are many ideas which you have to experiment).
Its of high risk and if you don't want that then join a degree like BBA in tourism management then get into any company related to tourism industry .
Or try to complete a journalism degree and try any of the auto magazines.
As of now there are no viable career in motorcycle riding .

Finally we just love riding for that we need money + time, choose any career option that offers both then you can ride .Its an illusion that only if you work for an touring related /travel related company you will be able to ride .

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

Ok, now this thread would be interesting.
First of all @insakshay what made you think that leaving studies would be a good idea?
Secondly, do you think education is so easy that you can leave it whenever you want. Kids in our country are growing up without even knowing what school is, you should be thankful that you are atleast getting the opportunity to complete your studies.

Now coming to passion. You said that you want to work for touring companies, but do you know that most of the tours are sponsored by companies rather being done by any company guys. And to get those sponsors, don't you think that they would sponsor any xyz person on the basis of "passion". Sorry, NO, think practically, no company will invest money in such a person who was not sure of studies, how can they trust him on the touring capabilities, no matter how good you are.

UPES, its a good college, and you have left it!!!! I mean who in his right sense can leave studies (leave aside personal reasons). I would ask you to go back to your studies and get at least complete the Bachelor's Degree. Its not 60-70s era that a 12th certificate is enough for job. The more you study, the more widen your career would be.

I know I might sound rude through my post, but this is the only way I can see that can induce some sense in today's young generation.
Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

Touring companies ? More like travel agents in India. And what job they do ? Sit in a small room and calling people to books tickets, hotels etc. Is this what you want to be ?

Man, riding isn't cheap. It requires money, lots if money.

Also in today's time, getting a job with a bachelor's degree is'n't easy. Think how would you get one without it. And if you still want to do so, you would most probably get a job of a helper or something like that. People won't see your passion in the first meeting.

Go back and study. You will understand yourself what and how you gonna do it.

                    Ride safe and have fun.
                    Regards

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

Congrats you must feel proud! Understand one thing though, to get a half decent job in India you must be over qualified, all the best in your new career!
Seriously though, I am not so qualified, but I manage, but how are you going to make living by riding a motorcycle?
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

lemme tell you a few things and a few very important things...

                            THIS IS INDIA my friend.
we are not in US where you are talented and you make a motorcycle and someone comes and buys it for 30,000 $ and you kickstart a business.
you are young and thats the age of making mistakes. i am still making though..
go back to studies riding can continue along with it.
finish your graduation atleast or mechanical engineering or whtever you were doing.
nothing works in this country without a degree even if you are super talented.
you need money a lot of money for those travel and motorcycles.
work hard for them.. earn hard and spend it as you like.

this is a hobby... its an expensive hobby.. so keep it as a hobby.. if you want a career out of it... first finish your graduation
and then hit western countries for further education in this particular field.

if you want a job in tourism.. motorcycling doesn't exist in that sub category as of now in our great motherland......

so akshay my friend.. get back to your studies.. "work hard, play hard" and 15k is no experience trust me.. if given an option to reverse time for me and go back. i would
study more than i ever did trust me.. life changes a lot post studies.. lot depends on time now that you have... do not drop out... go back....
