Can you elaborate the connections? If you connected the meter in current mode across the rr unit o/p what you did was wrong. That will just blow up the meter.

    +1 to abhijit.
select dc 20 volts in your digital multimeter.check with a charged battery.

also my headlight has become very very very poor, its almost off, my indicators give more light than headlight.
i disconnected my batt and ape rr, and using old rr with old batt so that no matter what happens i don't spoil my bike..

what should i do to control the output voltage which shouldn't exceed 14.5 v
if i put a relay to cut off the supply to batt then it would cut off at 3500 rpm itself..
if i put up a 7815 circuit in the wire connecting the batt, then i thought it would work well even though it does not supply below 15 volts but it can't hold more than 1 amp..
    it got blown away today.

    How are you measuring?

    Do this -
    1. Connect coil o/p to RR unit i/p.
    2. Connect RR unit o/p to battery. Do not connect the battery to the rest of the bike wiring.
    3. Measure voltage across the battery terminals for some duration.

7815? Forget it. Mostly looks like a wiring error.

Wrong, no ac wire will be routed to the ign switch as its obvious that it produces AC when the engine is running. And most bikes have only two contacts in the ign swtich, ign/earth and the batt. Forget about the old TVS Max/Sam series which were having the same stupid (My second bike was a Samurai *&*#& ) arrangement to save an extra switch. Those were the days where there wont be any flash switches in bikes. So u need to route it thru the ign switch first then feed it to the Stock RR AC out wire, then all other lights will work on DC and load the bulb from batt thru relays.
,glad you liked it.well repeated washing is the only wat to get tid of dirt, and the best way to use gloves, surgical one while working..as your better half told already, well, she is correct, ask her the various methods of scrubbing which i showerd in the picture, you will understand it better.
as of writing ,well i wrote some ,here are the links, there are tons of pics, enjoy.
    <div class='xflo_forum_img'> <a href="http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/"><img src='images/catimages/xflo/tourer-new.png'/></a> </div> <div class='xflo_forum_text'> Motorcycle travelogues by thousands of xBhpians from across the world. </div>

is that so.well i thought as when the ign switch is off if we kick the engine while keep the headlight switch in on position it dosent glow,so there must be a switch in ign which is cutting the ac also.i remember when old bajaj scooters are kicked the horn and light used to glow momentarily as the ign switch was not in series.i may be wrong.

in this case the bike is already converted to dc so all lines are dc only and there is no ac phase in the system .

thanks.i will help medically also but i think i better not to ,BE EVERYONE SAFE AND SOUND,THAT MY PREY TO ALMIGHTY.

Dude, how to get rid of the grease easily? I use cotton waste then some petrol, and lastly soap but petrol will make the skin dry. Any tips? BTW, Doc, whats ur specialization?
to get rid of grease ,first get it wiped off as much as you can.use a cloth/jute bori/cotton waste anything.then apply some petrol or diesel.kerosine also helps, but stinks more.wipe it properly.i say use medical way for scrubbing,do what a surgeon do like this.............you should use at least 4 to 5 min of time.then use of dish washing metirial like vim bar or prill,do the same.lastly use moisturized hand wash like dettol or lifeboy handwash and clean at least for 5 min.if you are a engineer or a medico, your nails should be clipped short,so they will be clean easily. lastly you can apply some cold cream or simple good old vesline just a bit to normalize, phew.

i am mbbs now as i passed out just last year but holding a great interest in medicine and general surgery.i like to be a medico who can handle EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.but for post graduation i like radiology specially ultrasound.i am on the process to get enrolled soon in diagnostic ultrasound, finger crossed.if i get the chance, i will prob shift to Chennai for next 2 years.

I think Doc's right. U've to re route the electricals to DC supply. Here's my diagram:

Now, u've identify the stock rr out to the light supply wire and feed that to ign batt switch out so that it will power up only when the ign switch is on. Next take the stock head lights 3 wires ie; low, high and gnd to feed the relays for the bulb as shown in the diagram. Load the bulb with thicker guage wires thru relays will make sure that its working at its optimum. Dont connect the stock RR any more for trial as it may damage other components incl RR.

correct, this is what i am trying to tell.just get the ac wire after stock rr which supplys the headlight, just connect it to battery positive terminal.you are done,.as the ac wires also routed through ignition switch it will only work owhen the switch is on.now add a relay as sajjit said.bingo you r done.

C'mon man, dont be shy or feel bad in asking any silly/stupid queries, even those can lead u/us to some other valuable idea. We all leant this way, no one is an expert but expertise with others help and thats the benefit in this forum.
    +1
I would repeat Doc's statement u could've wind the poles fully to reap the full benefit rather sticking the stock manner. U r not following the stock alt so u could've done that.

i dunno as how can you be a medical doc and a gearhead at the same time.... will definitely meet you someday.
its difficult to cope up with biology and electronics, ask me..
    thanks a lot doc.
from the beginning only machines any type had fascinated me.i also loving biology as well.but the textbooks are never good to keep your imagination free.i am blessed that my parents are good in letting imaginations free.my father ,a gynecologist and obstetric surgeon, is a brilliant teacher a child can have.a true car lover himself always wanted to push me towords driving and not only that,to word the details of car engineering.he studied Eng for 6 months in the beginning of his career then he shifted to medical profession as most of our family are doctors.i was and am blessed, despite being a doctor i am blessed with his charm for knowing more.you know,in various studies of my medical studies there are hugely mind boggling anatomical /surgical things, very severe disease process that we have to remember, but my love of machines rescued me there also.where my friends used Mnemonic s to remember various things i use to make my own Mnemonic from car engine parts, its electricals, its cooling system, etc.actually in a broad sence all things are common ,take a beating heart,or a newly born baby which is just delivered or a freashly started engine with its first ever crank, its same feel, its life.i know most of you guys will be laughing by now,but thats the way i look into life, and will do anything to prevent it from stopping, because its life, which is beautiful.hence the doctor and gearhead,i think.

getting rid of grease is simple.
the sacks in which farmers supply wheat and rice ....
i dunno what you call it particularly in English, its called BORI in punjabi...
buy one for 5 bucks and cut it into many small hankies and it easily wipes off grease
make sure its a rough brown cloth kinda thing, I'll post a pic

thanks for the diagram, its more clear now..
DIY well i always thought that living in mumbai will make everything done, but no one here is innovative, or even values an innovation, atleast in my reach so had to get all hands down myself..

thanks for the diagram again initially it was a bit confusing (thanks to those bunking of physics lectures and roaming around)
    but now its crystal clear...

Gunny bags? Lol, sorry yar... I dont've that much patience to make them into hankies May be my puppy can do it in minutes, he's got a record of tearing a car mat into no of pieces in just 5 mins once we forgot to close the door. My bad and made a hole of 1250/- in my wallet for the same

Dude, dont go for these making them hankies if u can get Rs10. cotton waste and clean it. Our mechs r using the same for cleaning and every service we'll get a bill for this too. The problem is even if u use ur proposed or the cotton waste, the grease will be very much there even after 2-3 washes especially inside the nails Thats the one I want to get rid of. Any tips?

Sorry for the late reply, was not able to access the net for 2 days BSNL Connecting....

Leave the Pulse generator and ign coil as stock, dont follow any diagrams for that. We r supposed to fiddle with the alt coil only. U can bolt the black wire anywhere u'll get a good gnd as Doc said. Make sure that ur batt -ve is grnded with a thick guage wire ie; a 4 Sqmm wire with the help of a cable socket at both ends to ensure that proper gnding. Go to any good electrical shop and ask for a 25cm 4Sqmm cable with 2 socket, pull out the strands to fit into the sockets and press with a good plier to make sure that its intact, u can even try a small hammer if u've patience. Bolt both the ends to batt and chassis bolt where there's no rust and clean.

U've choosen wisely, Amron is the best choice as u'll get replaced if u fry it in the initial days, once u settle with the setup it can offer a trouble free life for atleast 3 years. Dont try to everything as DIY, After all its not a part of DIY, its the concept materialising by urself, but u can take the help of professionals like u took from the electrician. Certain things like fabricating brackets, welding, winding u cant do it alone. U cant do without proper machine and skills, so take it to a welding workshop and they can fix it easily and neat without seeing blood Make sure that batt wont shake or vibrate after fixing else it may cause issues.

C'mon man, dont be shy or feel bad in asking any silly/stupid queries, even those can lead u/us to some other valuable idea. We all leant this way, no one is an expert but expertise with others help and thats the benefit in this forum.

I would repeat Doc's statement u could've wind the poles fully to reap the full benefit rather sticking the stock manner. U r not following the stock alt so u could've done that.

U can use the stock wires coming out of the stator cover safely as u can see the guage of APE RR's thickness, its almost as same as the stock wire coming out. After all its AC and will not deliver full output @ all rpms, so no worries, But u need to use thicker wires to carry DC from batt and thatz a must.

Hope the diagram will clarify ur doubts, if not feel free to ask.
