  • @anvancy: thanks....any pointers for me? BTW never thought a fly could be that beautiful.

@onlinesatish: i wish i'd live there.........but i stay around 150kms from Sohra, then again i suppose thats close enough for a quick trip.

@vijaycool: told you im a amatuer,i pretty much click anything i think looks "pretty", besides i hate composing "technically correct" pictures the same way i hate all digital sound sources...........sure they sound crystal clear but i prefer the warmth of a crackling old stereo any day.

          • Side effects of Loadshedding....

            Time: 10.30pm
            Venue: Home
Weather conditions: Hot & Humid (typical Kolkata weather)

I had just returned home after a hard and tiring days work. What was I expecting at home? Well, nothing much, maybe a quick shower, then sit under the fan with a glass of fruit juice, and then go through the October issue of Bike India magazine, which I hadn't got the chance to read till now.

But what do I get? LOADSHEDDING!!! So I decided to skip that shower, that fruit juice, and of course sitting under the fan, which now wore that very motionless look. Instead, ignoring the perspiration trickling down my forehead, I lie down on my bed, and start playing the inbuilt cricket game on my mobile phone, in an effort to while away these dark moments.

Suddenly my valiant efforts to win a very close match against Australia are interrupted by a text message I receive on my phone. It was from my fiancee, and it read as follows...

"Full Moon night. Go to the roof, its looking amazing, and take along Big Boy" (just for your info, by "Big Boy", she was referring to my 8 yr old Great Dane).

At times, I'm lazy to go to the roof. But something struck me...something which might just involve me, and interest me a lot more than that game of cricket I was trying to win.

Within 2 minutes, I was on the roof. Accompanying me were the following...

            1) A Canon G9
            2) A Gorillapod (it's a flexible tripod)
            3) A 1:12 Scale R1

Avalable lighting towards the first 15-20 minutes was only the moonlight. Thereafter, electricity came back, and some of the surrounding lights in the distance also played a part...

Here's the very first of some of my attempts...(others will follow soon)...

                • SP, liked both the shots... of all your bike shots so far, i think I liked this one the best BTW, that last vertical pillar on the left is a little distracting, i wonder how it would look if you cloned or cropped this one out!

I too have noticed the distracting pillar .. I thot of getting maximum feedback of original photos without any PP. All the fotos I have posted are straight from the camera except the last one.

The leaf foto, I have used Ms Office Picture manager to adjust the midtones and cropping.

My observation is without post editing the shoot is 50% incomplete! ..

I have noted ur feedback dude, and keeping that I'll come with another set, with another subject in some time .

Thanks for the comments and looking for more ..

                            Thanks Inder!

These belong to a very large flock (200+) of migratory Red-Tail Hawks that come here every year during the winters...

This year, they arrived day before... they nest in the nearby hills and perch around our apartments in the mornings basking in the sun...

I have a thread on them at POTN here that I regularly update.
