    Your post confuses me!

Let me tell you by some number. First, you need to remember there is an adverse relationship here. When the aperture is set at a value of say f2.8, we call it "opening" the aperture. Alternatively, a value of f11 would be known as "closing" the aperture.

    f/ 2.8 - More OOF background
f/8, f/11, f14, etc. - The whole image would be in focus.

I hope it is somewhat clear now!

So the only way out for me to bump the ISO level. I hate high ISO levels and click everything ISO64 only.

The other way out for me is to either get my self a dSLR (which is definitely not an option) or a ultra zoom that also saves in RAW.

My future in night photography of moving objects seems blurry now!

So for my future ultra zoom cam apart from having RAW capability, I have to look out for one with the biggest sensor. Only thing coming up is the awesome FujiFilm S100FS!

Edit: Just noticed that u can take pics at ISO10000, and it weighs almost a kilo!
have a look at the FZ-28. It retails around 12000 in the US and 17000 in India. It saves in RAW format. Also has HQ video recording. I might go for it, my DoP(Depth of Pocket) permitting.

That is the best ploy, I guess. I hope you learn quickly and post up good shots.

I have no clue where i was going with my last post

        Last question!

I'm getting the part about more OOF when the aperture is relatively open. Only the closing aperture bit thats not sinking in. If, for example take this pic:

What would happen if you close the aperture? Will all the 3 figurines look sharp? I wont ask you why

        @Pranay

Im learning on my cousin's DSLR. Should get one for me in a couple of months.

Absolutely right! If you close down the aperture (increase the 'f-number') all the three figures would be in sharp focus.

            • Please note that OOF and bokeh are not always interchangeable.

              • Bokeh Madness
Since these days, there is discussion going on about bokeh, OOF background, apertures, etc., I thought of showing what the 50mm f1.8 is capable of.. This is what fifteen minutes of idle time, a camera and a 50mm f1.8 can do. I say anybody who has/ or is contemplating on getting a D-SLR SHOULD have one of these nifty-fifty in their arsenal (Canon or Nikon)..

Just have a look at that bloody Depth of Field (DoF). Absolutely STUNNING!

That incompleteness was intended, just to give the pic a little more character.

Pics are taken using a Nokia N73 mobile.

                        • My humble skills...

Just clicked these day before yesterday from my Motorola Razr V3i.
In all these 3 yrs the humble lil' 1.23MP camera has never ceased to impress me.
Mostly it takes great day time pics and utilises the ambient light very well.

However, I couldn't resist editing them in Picasa and Photoshop.
                          here's the result:

"A Black bike looks best in Black & White"
