If you are doing high speed continuous shooting then maybe card speed may be a deterrent but in that case the camera itself will slow down or ask to wait. This is from my humble experience.

Thanks for the response guys. I got the culprit!
Basically, I installed the software that came with my cam - Nikon NX2. All pics worked flawlessly!

So, I thought maybe it was indeed a software/plugin problem. But then how come 8/10 pics work and rest don't?
So, the cabinet (CPU waala) gets opened. Too much dirt! Then, the processor is taken out followed by RAM. One of the RAM mounts is blackish (not the RAM, but its slot on the MB)

2-3 google searches and my suspicion is confirmed. Slot was problematic and the PCB needs soldering at one place. Moved my RAM from its original (now bust) slot to the adjacent one and everything is good!

In layman terms now:
All software (especially audio/video/photo editing ones) allocate a portion of RAM as buffer and use the same for every memory transaction. In my case, since the RAM slot was bust, Lightroom/PS5 was intermittently throwing errors. Luckily, Nikon NX2 software used a different portion of RAM while it was working and I could dive deeper into the issue.
