  • seems this thread again got temporarily shut down.

lets see again a comparo between normal and raynox.

this is a shot taken at super macro mode.that is a rainbow fly.you can hardly make out.details are not that clear.the subject is too small.ofcourse 300mm does not work in super macro mode.the AF nor the MF can exactly focus such minute things.

this is a image taken by stacking the raynox 150 and 250 together..effective 3.75x at 300mm F8.you can now clearly see the details of the fly and the beautiful colors..note that this shot is beyond 1:1.the 250 achieves 1:1 at 200mm.this shot is taken with both 1.5 and 2.5 so its somewhere near 3:1 or 5:1

and a crop of the same fly in other shot.

i sometimes feel bad that i have only 6mp..thats why u feel that the image is a little noisy.

and another beauty of raynox..again at full crop.

    and some more uncropped:

and a handheld shot taken by 250..

aryan..hope you enjoyed the full picture....the Js end now.

      • @anvancy: That comparo really shows the superiority of Raynox; this is great stuff! Stacking the raynox on the 100mm macro wouldn't actually hurt, now that I think about it!

Lovely details captured, even on a fly! I wonder what it can do to a dragon-fly or to a beautiful butterfly..

        • a cat in the neighbourhood had given birth to a litter of four. but some crazy cruel maniac ended up killing the mother cat, and that left the four kittens which were barely a week old, totally unattended.

before i knew about what had happened, two of the weaker kittens had lost their lives. i stepped in as soon as i came across the orphaned and unattended kittens, which were barely larger than a mouse.

they are now permanent residents of my home, and though its pretty tough allowing them to coexist in the presence of a very jealous male great dane who's jaw is larger than the kittens body, i am somehow managing.

here are a couple of pics taken by their surrogate father...

actually the raynox will work better on a tele..
according to my calculations...which i think are right.

since on the 100mm(100mm being a prime isnt it??) 100mm*1.5 crop factor so..150mm*3.75x magnification (considering the stacking)562.5mm effective at macro.

            tele 300mm 300*1.5 crop factor...so 450 *3.75x magnification=1687mm macro mm...effective.

and still again there will be cropping..

so i think that you will be satisfied in both ways..if u buy a tele..u have tele end and macro end also..considering the raynox..

@anvancy- Thanks for such a comprehensive explanation with demo. I believe that its no harm in putting 100 odd dollars into raynox. The outcome is no lesser than 1000$ lens..

BTW- r u preparing for JEE?
