Last week rode around 3 days in very heavy rain, the Claw did a fantastic job. Used the rain cover which comes with it & there was not a single drop of water inside. Have to clean the bottom side which has mud splashes on it but it didn't let any water in from the bottom. So based on my experience I think Claw can easily survive in the rain. Lastly I would like to thank [MENTION=26407]aargee[/MENTION] for the wonderful thread my purchase was heavily based on your comparo, I have already rated 5 stars but thats the least I can do.

Great to hear that guys have been happy with the effectiveness of the raincover provided with the Claw.. however water proofing is subject to the amount of usage and wear and tear of the fabric.

ViaTerra has upgraded the raincover material on the Claw and also on its other products. From now on the raincover material is of slightly more durable variety. It (Claw Raincover) would also be available as a separate purchase in a few days.

Hi fellow XBHP'ians after a lot of reasearch roughly about 3 months I bought a tail bag called Dirtsack Tailbag Standard. I must say that my decision to buy this tailbag was spot on and perfect. I bought this bag after a lot of contemplation w.r.t whether I should buy saddle bag or tailbag.

This tailbag is just perfect for the kind of rides I do, which is basically spread over 2-3 days. The bag quality speaks volumes of the workmanship and efforts gone in making this bag, it has heavy duty build quality and is very durable. The aerodynamic shape of the bag not only looks cool but is highly functional at high speeds as one doesn't feel the drag while riding. It has all the bells and whistles like 3M reflective tapes, ykk zippers, automotive grade straps for carrying the bag, simple and easy to install and secure the bag on the pillion seat using four mounting straps. It is so versatile that it can be mounted on any motorcycle. This bag is dual purpose where one can also use it as a trendy duffel bag, the company has provided straps(automotive grade like seatbelt quality) for carying it on shoulder.

Now comes the surprise element of this bag, this tailbag has a humongous capacity of 40 litres and can easily swallow your luggage for a weeks ride. Saddle bags from various other manufacturers also give you more or less the same capacity, but the advantage of this tailbag over the saddle bags is it looks good and does its job and has dual purpose like one can use it while travelling in train, plane, bus, etc.

I bought this tailpack from The Outdoor Travel store in Bandra and the sales guy was very helpful in demonstrating as to how it should be mounted and dismounted. I used this tailbag on my three day trip to Nashik and it held its own very well. The service part for Dirtsack products needs to highlighted here. I somehow lost one of the mounting straps and was left was three mounting straps after the ride. I called up Jaydeep from Dirtsack and what a gem of a guy he is. He told me not to worry and he will courier me the mounting strap free of cost. At the same time I also came across a waterproof rain cover costing Rs. 450 for this bag on their website and ordered it online while asking Jaydeep to courier the strap along with the rainproof cover. The rainproof cover is bright neon color which makes it visible to others. The products from Dirtsack are of high quality and people from Dirtsack are happy to help. Highly recommended

Some pics of my RE Bullet Standard sporting the tailbag on the day I bought it. I forgot to click some snaps while the bag was fully loaded while going to Nashik(I was using the Thunderbird parked next to Standard) will post the pics next time.

Well you could have strapped in a regular "Duffel" bag, "VIP/American Tourister" type bag as well.

Those would also look and perform same on the bike.

Hi Payeng, I have a couple of duffel bags at home and had used one of them during one of my pune rides in August. Believe me I had a tough time managing it with bungee cords and a plastic rain cover. It was not at all comfortable and practical. If I had to access anything from the bag I had to open the bungee cords and loosen the plastic bag to access stuff which was tiring and bothersome. The duffel bag had a tendency to slip although it was secured with the bungee cords and it also looked like an eyesore on my Thunderbird. With the Dirtsack Tailbag all these issues have been taken care of, if you read my post carefully this tailbag comes with 4 mounting straps which hold the bag in place. It remains in the same position like one mounted it at the start of the day to the end of the day or end of the ride. Add to this the all weather cover(neon color for high visibility) which helps keep the tailbag clean as well as water/rainproof. The tailbag is also made aerodynamic to minimize the drag, I have experienced it on my ride. Duffel bags are made for a purpose and this tailbag is made for a purpose only that this tailbag handles both duffel bag as well as motorcycle tailbag very well and takes it to a whole new level with its build quality, ease of use, features, etc.

I am planning to buy ViaTerra Claw soon. I have read in this thread that it fits almost all Indian bikes but still a little skeptical and would like to know if it would go fine with the exhaust of my Yamaha FZ-S FI? I mean no touching the exhaust?

Buy the Claw! Just get it. And I suggest the 'Mini' version unless you pack big😁. Can easily accommodate a week long trip imho. I use it on my FZ and can share photos if you want. Cheers

As Mini has a very marginal price difference, i think getting claw is the better option. No? My only reason to go for extra space is for winter packing when clothes tend to get a bit heavier and for rides when I might put in my 2 DSLR cams with a telephoto lens and a normal zoom in it. Please, guide me if I am wrong and I'd love to see the pictures of Claw Mini on your FZ

Till date my Claw hasn't touched CPR's exhaust, I'm 100% sure it will never touch FZ's either for sure be it the regular Claw or the mini Claw.

The only difference in Claw Pro is the high quality of construction material being used. The regular Claw itself is a super fine material for the price we pay. So, if you can afford, go for Claw Pro otherwise regular Claw will do more than sufficient job.

From my little experience, Claw mini is sufficient for 6-7 days trip & regular Claw for up to 15 days trip.
