Also was going through couple of posts and found the UG3 owners manual posted by you which said that LH Spark plug activates at 350 rpm and goes till 9k rpm and RH spark plug activates at 750 rpm and cuts off at 6k rpm. Does it hold the same for UG4 and if it does, I was just thinking mine doesnt go above 6.5k rpm and I was wondering if LH spark plug had anything to do with it. Also the guy who I bought the bike from kept on telling that he got done something to the bike so that it doesnt go above 90 so that he will get a better mileage. but he doesnt know what the Bajaj Service center guys did.

Sorry for the noob questions, How will I check it myself if its activating the spark plug or not ? Just want to learn to do things by myself. Thanks

I said switch that activates the spark plug. Check the photo it's in the middle. If it doesn't get activated, top end performance suffers.

Problems with CDI can affect the performance.

Thanks Lockhrt999. Will get the spark plug checked. Does the CDI has anything to do with this issue ? One of the mechanics I took the bike to, said they might have put a 150s CDI.

There could be many reasons. Carb may need tuning or the second spark plug switch isn't getting activated.

To continue my tale. Had give for servicing to a local mech. He changed the carb diaphragm. So after doing that, the drop in power when the throttle was released and again twisted has been solved. Now there is no drop in power, but the main issue still persists. It still doesnt go above 6.5k. Yesterday, max I could go on a freshly tarred empty 2km ORR is 89km/h. Any solutions ?

Hi Guys, went through the forum and couldnt find anything on this so I thought I will post my query here. The post is tad big so thank you for the patience

I bought a second hand bike recently which had run 29k and test rode on normal city road and it looked all fine. The mileage is pretty decent at 35km/l ( I take roads where I cannot go above 40 because of traffic . The bike has good pickup but in any given gear, it doesnt cross 5k rpm. It reaches 60-65 easily on 5th gear at 5-5.5k rpm. After that comes the problem. When I throttle fully, with great difficulty it reaches 6.5k rpm and have maxed at 85-90. When i leave the throttle and throttle again, it comes down to 5k rpm and then again starts going up. There is a lot of vibrations too after 5.5k rpm. If I rev in neutral, the rpm needle reaches red line, but on move, nothing. I had shown it to the mech, he said it might be because of the carbs and cleaned it and did all the necessary servicing but it still remained the same. I called the previous owner and he said he had got some type of lock from the bajaj service center so that the bike doesnt go above 90 for mileage purpose. I took it to the same Bajaj service center and the mech said it doesnt have any rpm limiter and cannot be put in these bikes either. He said it might be because of clutch plate or sprockets or something else and asked me to come some other day as they were full. The first mech I showed it to said the bajaj guys might have replaced the CDI with 150 CDI.

So questions is, it because of the CDI ? ( Can something like that even be done ) ? Will be taking it to one more mech this weekend. Asked him yesterday and he said it might be because of the carb diaphragm. Since he was busy to look it up, he asked me to come on a weekend.

Is it hid projector or led? What's the wattage? Sometimes hid can drain the battery. You need to check the voltage of the battery while starting the bike. Secondly when the bike is not starting, does the starter coil atleast make any sound or not? If it doesn't then probably some fuse or wire is loose somewhere.

It is still under warranty. I guess its been 2 years. Also I'm using projector headlamps, I do not see any dimming of light and horn is also working properly.

How old is your battery? It seems to be your battery doesn't provide good ignition voltage. Generally battery lasts 4 years on our bike.

Many thanks for reverting back to me. Apologies for the confusion. Here are the below two situations which happened to me in recent times.

Situation 1. I took a drive for about 5km to a shop, after done with the shopping when I tried to start the bike it was not starting. I mean to say when I'm trying to push the ignition button, electric is not flowing to Starter motor.

Situation 2. When my bike is not used for 2 or 3 days. The day after that when I'll try to start, again the same problem persists. Electric will not flow to starter-motor.However display panel, display light, headlamp and backlight are functioning properly.
NOTE: If I'm running the bike on a daily basis, everything seems to be perfect.
I went to the authorized Amaron dealer to check the battery installed and according to him, the battery is fine.
It will be really helpful if I get a solution to this.

"Picking the self" is not giving clear indications of what you wish to convey. There could be multiple reasons for starter failure: Carbon build up on motor (carbon brush replacement/cleaning), Starter clutch (or freewheel) may be faulty which you may need to replace, Starter relay could have gone kaput etc.

Starting the bike in 1st gear would be cumbersome, try it in 2nd gear. It'll be less jerky and chances of it starting in one go will be more than 1st.
