Why the tappet noise is minimum with the castrol oil?? Were as with the yamalube even with the sport premium which is a fully synthetic one i can hear tappet noise some what loud . With the castrol the noise is still there but the sound frequency is reduced to a greater extent. All says that the castrol is a big crapstrol [emoji1]
Two things, brand new oil, plus being a semi synthetic the oil is thicker and hence thicker oil means good lubrication. Fully synthetics are comparatively thinner than SS and though they flow well, they tend to become watery post engine warm up and lead to noises. SS too will produce the same but they a bit of time and once warmed up, eventually they too will. Castrol or Crapstrol it depends on which. There are a lot of fake Castrol in circulation, so you just never what one's experience was with which. But Activ 4T for the most part, and as I said earlier, is a decent performer.

Around 2.5 k kms in the last service.
Since the shops are not open,The old yamalube also went bad i can feel it the pickup has reduced and bike is not soo responsive & i tought if i ride like this further it will do bad for the engine. So immedietly changed the oil.
No problem. Especially with the current situation nothing can be done and reusing the old filter this time won't have a negative impact. Next time, replace the oil filter first.
It's a decent performing oil, as I said. When was the oil filter changed last time?
Cheers!

Any body used the castrol Activ 20W40 in their bikes??
Since i work for a pharma company its working for me in this lock down also. A mechanic shop near my area is changing the engine oil but they have only castrol oil luckily the grade is 20w40. With the no option left that too the present oil has gone bad so changed it to castrol.
Is it ok to use castrol active oil in the FZ????
Is it mineral or semi synthetic???
Activ 4T is a decent performing oil and can be used on the FZ with no problem, and it is a semi-synthetic oil.

Guys this is regarding yamaha fz v2. I've been using fz for almost 5 years now. I changed my tyres to Michelin 140/70( rear) when my bike clocked around 26000 kms. Now it's 60000kms and now I've started getting issues. I took my bike to the yamaha service center and they are telling that the shock absorber is gone along with drive axil and the chain and socket also need to be replaced.they blame everything on the upgrades tyre. Is it true should I change back to the stock 140/60 ? Guys who know please help
Showroom gave an estimate of rs 15000
Replace the chain and sproket if you can visually see the teeth to be worn out. You can check on youtube for the difference between a new and a worn out sprocket teeth. I have changed to 140/70 masseter tyres about a year back at about 16.5k kms when the stock tyre sidewalls had cracked. Had the front also upgraded to 110/70. Also had to get the sprocket changed as well at that time.
There will be some tension on the chain due to the taller tyre but that can be factored by adjusting the chain slack. You have clocked 34k on the 140/70 tyres and if the tyre upgrade would have been a reason for degradation in the sprockets it would have happened earlier. Cant say about the suspension. My SVC engineer also told me that upgrading to a taller tyre will need re-boring of the engine at a later stage as it stresses the engine out due to stress on the front sprocket. Dont know how much of that is true. I'm still using the masseter without any issues so far.
In the user manual the time for maintenance and replacement activites for key parts is mentioned. You can check that to see if that is the normal wear and tear for your case which might need replacement. 60k kms would have worn out a lot of parts.
Hi guys. One of my friend is planning to get JK Blaze BF32 100/80-17 & JK Blaze BR41 130/70-17 for his Yamaha FZ 16 at a cheaper price from the local tyre vendor. The bike is used for less than 4 kms everyday so he doesnt want to spend extra for MRF and other brands. I couldn't find much reviews about the JK motorcycle tyres in the internet. Reviews and feedback on these tyres are much appreciated.
