Knew it. Had to be the carb. Always is. Carb definitely would be the culprit but I doubt its up for a replacement. Mechanics often tend to evade the situation plonking in a whole new carb. I had several problems with my carb too eventually rectified it all and still on stock with 45000+kms on the ODO with a foam air filter on. I sourced a 1000+kms run carb for half the price as a spare. But the stock hasn't given up yet. Slide needle broke a couple of times. Diaphragm slide itself suffering from scoring a lot tend to get stuck a lot which was emory rubbed smooth and installed back to run quite a long and got changed to a new one eventually after it gathered a lot of play after frequent rubbing and its running fine still. But still on the stock carb which I doubt gets replaced a hat often.

These CV diaphragm carbs are prone to lot of problems and thus I prefer them after the old wire operated slide carbs. Check your diaphragm slide and give everything a closer look. Consult a good mechanic or a couple of more. They might come up with other results.

Coming to a carb change you can plonk lots of others without harming your engine depending on what you ask for. I have friends running n BS29 Mikuni even 33Ucal and other carbs too. I think to go down to VM26 carb for now.

Wow thank you so much for the info. I have less technical knowledge. The mech did check the diaphragm and said it might be the problem. Even they felt the same, the initial is good to 50-60 and when it reaches 65 it's dead. As of now, got the carb and air filter cleaned. more smoother riding now. Will test it soon. If again the problem persist, I might have to do what the mech says.

i would suggest to get hold of a friend who own an impulse
then fit your carburretor in his bike

then see if the problem persists in his bike

also fit the carb from your frnd bike

        to your bike

        then see

        how it goes

        So concluding

        If your friends bike
        with your carb

goes well then there is some other problem in your bike

then it would be something else in the engine

Just a little overbore on a spare engine around. Shifting now from stock 57.3mm bore to 65.2mm with almost 190cc on paper. Yet to plonk it back in.

None. Had an engine lying around. Took that to a boring shop after lots of brainstorming. Will get the block installed in a day or two by a mechanic.

As far as a good mechanic about which you asked in Doon is concerned I told you the best ones before.

Just yesterday replaced the factory 35W bulb with the Philips 40W HS1 bulb it seems bright at the moment but time will tell how good it will come on highway...

Want to know how much higher W bulb would be safe on Impulse?

Plonked that on today. Cranked the engine and it was alive straight away. A slight blip on the throttle sent vibes through the handlebar unlike the stock mill running on a heavy reciprocating piston. Ported the manifolds a little with valves as stock still but the head face shaved by 0.6mm.

Low end has got a significant bump. The vehicles propels from rest beautifully. With rpms less on the tacho as compared to stock, it cruises relaxed at 50-60kmph. Feels a lot like riding a zma engined Impulse with less Kgs on.

                    Now in the break-in period.

Yaah. 28mm is still enough but having a UCD33 from 200ns around will give that a try.

                          Hi All,

Currently I am located at Bengaluru, if any fellow Impulse's owners from Benagluru had gone through modifications like additional lights or HID to improve overall light exposure it will be great if you can re share. Such information might be available in same thread.

                          TIA

Rainy Potholed roads on impulse.... Lol. When everyone is riding while getting drenched in rain. you would be swimming in mud.
Do you know, That thing has the worst gear ratios ever for a 150cc. ATB Bud.

Going to Himalayas on that from Hyderabad. you better sell your home and keep cash handy for fuel. Riding that long on impulse at high RPM.. get prepped to buy a Petrol bunk on the way and be prepared to get the engine fixed.

Indian Junta are the most sensible of the world. That's why they buy tons of Activa's, which has the best ride and handling along with the best braking prowess in the segment with unquestionable reliabilty.
