opening full throttle gives smoke on any bike.. the carbon deposit in silencer and head comes in force.. mostly.not advisable to do in neutral

probably the clutch plates are worn/burnt out. does the bike have to be rev'ed more to attain normal pick up? if it does, then definitely a sign of worn/burnt out clutch plates going by the driving style of your dad.

Yes, your observation is correct. It has to be revved hard. It sounds very strained and is very slow. The Xpro has aged prematurely and very badly. With my father's terrible, poor riding style and minimal maintenance habits - I have since stopped looking after the bike. When I was riding the bike for the first 27,000 kms. It would be smooth and showed a good fuel efficiency of 60 - 65 kpl. Sometimes 70. Even my Hornet (that I do not share) gives a very acceptable 54+ kpl.

While he complains of poor mileage of 40 - 42 kpl.

The bike is in a poor condition mechanically and is only functional anyhow which I believe will deteriorate badly. He faces problems that I never faced. He has replaced many running parts in a period of 1 year due to premature wear and tear.
His riding style is typical of the common and very ignorant Indian consumer. Habits are hard to change.

I believe the Xpro's production is halted now.

Mine is 56000 Kms Done. Clutch plate is still stock and most of the bike as well.... but chain sprocket has been changed 4 times. The OEM chain sprockets dont last above 12000 Kms even with good care. The Its unbelievable that you are still on stock!! Now I am on a heavy duty chain sprocket set which cost apprx. 180 more than OEM set. Let me see how it goes.

Hi, I just bought a Gixxer in Pune and now have to send my Dream Yuga back to my hometown.
I am hoping I could just drive it there instead of transporting, just for the heck of it.
The distance is 600 KMs and given I can't ride that long at one go, I can assume the total distance traversed would come to 650-700 KMs.
I am leaving from Pune, planning a stop in Shirdi, Shirdi is 186 KMs from Pune, I am guessing for every 50 minutes of ride, I should stop for 15 minutes.
Is this a good/good enough idea for such a long tour?

Bike is in good condition, serviced periodically, new rear tyre, a two year old front tyre, engine is smooth, can't say mileage as the odo/speedo was not working for past 2 years (SVC people are assholes), recently got it fixed so yet to calculate the mileage. Says 35k on Odo, but safe to say 40k - 42k in reality.

I'll be getting another servicing done before leaving from a very much trusted mechanic. (Was referred to by a roommate, have referred over five friends to him).

Yep, 50 minutes ride/15 minutes break sounds good to me.
Just make sure the bike is serviced well. Change oil, filters if needed. Make sure the chain is in good condition and the cables are strong enough and you'll be fine
