    Servicing carburetor Honda dream neo

The carburetor can be cleaned after fuel filter cleaning to ensure better operation. Better to do every 8k kms or if

    using bike after long time.
It is a Keihin PB carburetor much much simpler just like Splendor carburetor.

You can see the above and keep the parts name in memory

    Things needed:
    1. Carb cleaner (Cyclo - available in good auto spare stores) Rs. 100

    3. Nitrile gloves (for safely using the carb cleaner)

    Procedure:
    1. Unscrew the carburetor cap and loosen the manifold Philips screws on both sides of carb. Wiggling the carb will make it detach from rubber manifolds.

    2. Take out the spring and slide along with needle noting down the position how it came out. This will be attached to the accelerator cable.

    3. Remove any rubber hoses on the top (fuel and air tubes)

    4. Now carb will come in hand easily like this

    5. Unscrew the drain screw, remove petrol from float bowl, tighten back. Now you can remove float bowl.

Now you can take the carb to a clean place dust free. Will continue in next post...

Now you can take photos of the carb wherever necessary before disassembling it.
Here is the inner parts of the carburetor

Please use the flathead screwdriver to remove the 1. Pilot jet, 2. Main jet 3. Air screw
The float can be removed by sliding the pin out.
It should look like below. Since you have taken photos reassembling will be easy, so don\'t worry to disassemble.

Wear the gloves and open the carb cleaner can. Insert the straw to the nozzle of the can.
Now you may apply the carb cleaner to all the metal parts (exclude the rubber parts as they may dissolve in it)
Apply on the air screw, air screw orifice, pilot jet, pilot jet orifice, main jet, main jet orifice. Blow air into

them so the holes are clear.

The light must pass through the above orifices and appear round. Then you are perfect to reassemble them back.
While refitting you might have to remove an airbox bolt below for easy insertion of carburetor between the

    manifolds.

This procedure will allow the fuel to flow free and throttle response will be made better.

Dont forget to tune the AFR screw back to original position. (Mine is marked with factory settings so I never mess up and that seems to be best setting for riding day and night)
Any clarification let me know.. Bye

Thanks man ... The air screw is 1.8 turns out from fully closed position which is factory setting. (The screw will neither appear bulging nor depressed in that hole)
Dream yuga HET should also be around the same settings.

Does this clearance is according to your user manual ? I am seeing in twister both are set to .10mm (intake and exhaust)

Yes.. it is from manual of Dream neo (HET engine), Exhaust clearance is bit more than the intake due to hot temp. Maybe twister is slightly different.

Re: Servicing carburetor Honda dream neo

The Dream series was touted to be a "splendor basher". I have a Honda Dream Neo. After using it for nearly 2 yrs, I have found a few flaws which the splendor doesnt have. Hence public stil prefers the splendor

                1) The dream neo has tubeless tyres. The grip is excellent during the first few months. They start losing grip after 15K kms. I have searched for 2 months in Pune for replacements. No tubeless tyres are available for dream neo. Why does Honda fit such tyres on their dream series whose tread get eroded in 20 K kms. Also no spares available in market.
Ultimately, I had to fit MRF tube tyres from splendor.

                2) The suspension is very hard. I am having back problems due to this. I am thinking of fitting splendor or bajaj SNS shock absorbers to my dream neo.

HMSI-- are you listening??? IF honda has to overtake Hero, they have to take care of these flaws

Tubeless trye is a upgrade over the TT type. Its another matter no one stocks 18 inch TL tyre in your city. but you can easily go for TT set up with same spec.

Front or Rear ? If front than check for overfilled suspension if recently serviced and use recommended grade for oil

For rear than if i am not mistaken neo and dream series comes with adjustable rear socks. just change it to softest setting. its few min work

                      Hi deep.

                      Hope you are doing well.

to answer your question, mileage of dream neo is 70 - 75 kms/liter with a mix of city and highway driving (50:50) single riding with average speeds around 50-55 KMS/hr. If you drive at speeds above 60 kms/hr then the mileage drops to 60-65 kms/liter

                      Hi there

If tubeless tyre is a upgrade over the TT type, then why does a tubeless tyre loses tread in 20 K kms while the tube-type lasts for 40 K kms? If that is the case, why cannot HMSI provide tube-type tyres as Original equipment fitment? And why cannot HMSI fit those tyres on their bikes which are normally available in market?? This is not only regarding dream neo. My friend who has a unicorn, is having same problems buying the tyres for his bike. the spec for unicorn is 100/90R-18.

Also, Dream neo has 80/100 R-18 tyres on front as well as rear. In tube type, this spec is not manufactured at all.
tube type has 2.75-18 as front and 3.00-18 as rear tyres. BOth tyres are thinner than 80/100 R-18. Fitting this tyre on Honda dream neo causes wobbling. I have experienced this first hand.

Changing to softest setting causes creaking noise from the suspension and the damping effect is not proper. If we change it to next setting, it becomes so hard that it gives back problems. I have asked lot of mechanics, even shock absorber repair shops. They say that the shock absorbers have a certain hardness which is set by HMSI and cannot be made softer. Better change to softer springs like SNS suspension from bajaj or hydraulic suspension from Splendor is what everybody advises

hello! dude.. mine came with TVS tyres.. in my 11000 kms, the tyre is not so bad, still near new.. I think you must try the TVS tyres instead of MRF.

The shock absorbers are little tight, but may loose after some years. Also check the rubber bush at the end of the spring, it is prone to tear, I workaround by making a bush that is made of ducttape, it works great.

Mine came with TVS tyres too.they have started loosing grip by 15 K kms. These tubeless tyres (80/100-R18) are not available in the market. for that matter the mrf tubeless (80/100-R18) are also not available. Only tube type tyres are available and that too in 3.00 R-18 specification. Your tyres are not bad in 11000 KMs . but what after another 11000 kms??? If OEM tubeless tyres are not available in the market, what are the customers going to do? HMSI doesnt have an answer for this.

Only honda 100cc bikes are fitted with tubeless tyres which are not available in local market afterwards.

My advise to Honda is to listen to these consumer problems or else after 5 yrs the dream series will be a flop like the dazzler.

Yes . of course the rubber bush at the end of shock absorbers is already torn at 15K kms. I am starting to doubt the quality of motorcycles made by HMSI.

Of course, every bike has minor issues, but Honda engine is more green and efficient - even on worst driving (always at 70kmph) I got 55kmpl (best is 75kmpl). It is a gem.
Our area in Chennai has loads of Auto shops in GP road, next time I will check tubeless tyres of this spec.

Our area in Chennai has loads of Auto shops in GP road, next time I will check tubeless tyres of this spec.
I did not buy a Honda for 55000 rs for its so called "green and efficient" engine which gives 70 kmph. I had a bajaj platina which cost me 39000 rs and gave 80 kmph.

Just think of this.. Why do people buy a Honda? Not for mileage. There are other bikes in the market which give far higher mileage. People by a hond for reliability and quality.

I sold the platina because maintenence cost was high. IF Honda is also giving me quality issues, I will suggest new bike buyers to go for Bajaj bikes as bajaj spare parts are cheaper than Honda . Also bajaj bikes are cheaper than honda and give higher mileage than honda
