Hey Scorpion, thnx a lot for the review of your New Honda Dream Yuga!!
I am also planning to buy a new bike. but i am really confused as to which one to buy. I currently own a TVS Fiero F2. No doubt its a wonderful bike. it is 9 yrs old and has creossed the 1lakh km mark, Never did i have to open the engine for any major repairs. But the thing is, the milege of has gone down. i am getting 43-45kmpl on the highway. And considering the price of petrol per litre in pune, which is 75.5RS/lt, its proving to be totally uneconomical! my daily riding is 80-90kms every day!! That means, i have to spend almost 180Rs everyday on petrol.

My initial plan was to buy another 150cc bike. but now i have decided not to go for the higher cc bikes because after 2-3 yrs the milege will definitly come down to less than 50kmpl.

I have shortlisted the Honda shine and now, after reading the review of your Dream yuga, i have considered to add this bike into my list. Which one of these two do you think i should go for? My main considerations are 1) Reliability (i plan to keep my bike for a min of 5 yrs) 2) Milege (should not be less than 60kmpl for both highway and city runs 3) Good pickup and admirable topspeed.

Congrats on your purchase! It looks good. Even i was considering honda dream yuga when i planned to purchase a bike last month, but it wasn't available here in Cochin. Ended up buying a Tvs star city. Make sure you do the run in properly it will reward you with good mileage and reliability. Ride safe.

I know you're in for a Honda but just an advice, Why don't you consider Tvs star city?? I mean looking at your requirements if you need mileage you should definitely consider that bike. I've used it for a month now gives 70-75kmpl approx Even i ride 60km on a daily basis. and thankfully I've a great showroom and customer service team here. The handling is not that good! but you know that's not a problem unless you race!

nice bike dude...the best buy in this segment...
honda really nailed it with dream yuga...
only thing is the name sucks...
it could have been simply "honda dream"...
              anyways..ride safe dude...

Thanks Scorpion for starting the thread, I presume we are going to see a lot of DYs on our roads. All reviews so far have been very positive. I had plan for a 150cc but nowing considering DY seeing current petrol prices.

How tall are you, because I am not getting a sense of the size of the bike and not sure if it is comfortable for a 5 ft. 9 in. person? Also what is smart card and does the 1100 for accessories include crash gaurd and saree gaurd?

Ya! What you said is absolutly correct. Star City is a good bike. But since i already own a TVS bike, somewhat makes me feel that i should go in for a non TVS bike. Racing???? i have been racing for the past 9 yrs or so... and now kinda bored of it!!!!!!

Do you think i should go in for the star City?? I dont mind buying another TVS bike.

Thank you VJ. I too feel the same regarding the name. If someone asks me "which bike did you buy?" I reply as Honda Dream and not Dream Yuga .

Thank you Rakesh. Smart card is the RC, nothing else. All accessories came free for me, but the SE tricked me and made me shell out 1100/- (400/- for number plates and 700/- for 3 years extended warranty.) I am 5 ft. 8 and I am comfortable riding the bike, no issues with it.

DY has a better handling then other similar cc bikes which makes it a good bike specially for city rides.
mileage will change depending on riding condition and style. As per ARAI (automotive research association of india)the Twister mileage is 85kmpl where as honda claims mileage of 70kmpl for Twister.Honda's claims DY mileage at 72kmpl...which means it must have higher fuel efficiency under ARAI testing then twister at around 87kmpl i guess.

It is owing to contraction of the catalytic converter metals inside the exhaust(silencer) on cooling . It is normal .

sachin, first of all, I have to thank you for suggesting me to buy DY. Till now, I have driven 300 km and the bike is pretty responsive till 40 km/hr; however, I have not revved it above 45 km/hr. I will keep the thread updated and have received the manual and have gone through it.
