Wonderful buy MRBabu. The Centuro is true value for money. I am sure it will come a long way if it is ripped gently well within its limits. I have been thinking to purchase it before I got my Avenger especially for city rides.

All the best!

Called up a dealer in Bangalore today. On-road price is Rs.53660 and there is a 45 day waiting period!

Seriously, thumbs-down Mahindra (for this long a waiting period) !!!! No 1 would be interested in waiting for 45 days. It is not some exclusive product for which people would queue & wait to get their hands on it.

Hi babu ,

I am from Chennai. I got my centuro delivered this month 12th. . Things seem to be fine , but although wanna enquire about this. . Few doubts. . Would be glad if u could help out.
Firstly, I ve filled around 6.75 litres of petrol . The fuel indicator reading seems to be change abruptly , even while driving it suddenly increases, then decreases. Not able to find the reading reliable. .
And , importantly, please tell me how the DTE works, is it the apporx. distance that can be travelled till the petrol gets to reserve tank ? Or the whole tank getting empty ?
Bcoz, I am still running on main tank, and it s showing DTE as 75km , so i am not sure whether the petrol is in reserve or main . Also the reserve tank capacity is in this bike is 2.4 L. , so there is some mistake somewhere .
As of now, I have driven exactly, 215 kms., and I am running on main tank , with current DTE as 65 km .
Is there anything I should worry about ? or wait for a few more days ?

Thanks.
Vicky

Hello Vicky Congrats. The DTE will start to work few kms before hitting the reserve. The approx value will start to decrease from that point. After you hit reserve, it will continue till 0. Then again the value will start from around 50 kms. So don't take this DTE feature so seriously, as even in fuel injected cars also not accurate.

If you want to check mileage go with reserve to reserve method.

An Update

Castrol power 1 15W40 oil is not suitable for this engine. Engine was very hot with more vibrations. Mileage was reduced to 60 kmpl without any other changes exept engine oil. Drained the oil within 400 kms and filled with Veedol take off 4T plus 20W40. Now things are back to normal mileage is between 68~72 kmpl and engine is very smooth.

Totally covered 2xxx kms and yes I am very happy with this bike.

Update

Few weeks ago had met a minor accident. It was minor because I always wear helmet, otherwise it could be major.
I advice all fellow riders to always wear helmet on all the roads. Had deep abrasion in right leg as I thrown out for few feet.

Regarding the bike at accident, the vehicle designed well to take any fall down or accidents. The bumper(leg guard) took all the impact on both sides.
So no scratches on the bike except the front fairing despite of heavy impact. Just replaced everything for rs 1300/-. Yes the parts are readily available.

Front fairings cost Rs 1300? what all did you actually replace for Rs 1300? Will be helpful to know.

The complete fairing costs = 558/-
Bumper(leg guard) = 340/-
Handle Bar = 290/-
Front Brake lever = 78/-

Except Leg Guard, all the above parts got some scratches only. As bike is new and parts are available readily, I just replaced all the above parts.

F.E now steady between 70 ~ 73 kmpl at 60kph riding.

Re: Mahindra Centuro

Hey, I purchased a Centuro today @ 55k on-road price here in Bangalore. A new showroom has opened close to my place by and went in to check on availability as I was passing by. To my surprise, they said, the can deliver immediately as they have stock and I bought a black one. I am expecting to get it on Friday after the registration. The one I picked has run for 1.8km. They said that they don't have to take it out for registration and hence don't expect it to run a lot before I lay my hands on it.

Every other showroom was quoting a 2 months delivery time when I checked last (even when they came on a road show at my work place recently). It was an instinctive purchase today just because it was readily available / for immd. delivery.

Re: Mahindra Centuro

Congrats. Now the deliveries eased up everywhere. Just FYI, this bike will give better mileage when you ride between 40~50 kmph in top gear. Once you exceed that limit your mileage will drop drastically.

Re: Mahindra Centuro

Thanks for the heads-up Babu. The main intention of buying this bike is the FE part & it better remain >60kmpl for me :P.
Edit: babu: Its time you provide an update on your bike - kms run, spends on service, FE, your likes after this many months of owning it, nagging issues etc :P

About the bike, I am still in the running-in period (<50kms run still :P - took it on yesterday, i.e., Friday evening) and staying within 20-40km range at the moment. Need to get used to the hero honda like gear shift and timely shifting. Somehow I am not very comfortable yet with the bike. Maybe I should use it for next 100-200 kms before jumping to any conclusion. Applying the rear brakes is almost impossible for my feet at the moment (again need to get used to it as I am not using a bike for more than a decade now). The rear view mirrors are puny and need a replacement IMO (will do it soon). A squeaking sound is heard from the rear suspension area and have told the dealer to pick up the bike on Monday, fix it and return it home as I cant afford to take a day of just for this. Lets see how professional they are in adhering to their commitment (I am doubtful at the moment).

BTW, went to buy a helmet today near my place (after a long long time - was using the hat like / police like ones for the scooter in recent times), but looks like its difficult to get a decent full face one for the size of my head (620mm or greater). The store guys just want to convince me that it fits well, even though my chin is popping out. Any suggestions on a large size well padded full face helmet?

Don't know your budget, but I got this one for my dad (he needs a 600 mm shell at least) - Spartan ProGear

Thanks Divya Sharan for your input. I am looking for a sober one (with no flashy design/print or fitments on top) and open for a price range of 3-4k since it is my head which will be inside it. I am looking for a 620/640mm one with adequate padding inside so that it fits snug still not uncomfortable. Planning to go near JC road sometime next week to look for a decent one.
