atul_chang very nicely written indeed. I appreciate you taking out time and sharing your experience. It helps in making the wait a little less gruesome.

Normal fuel. In fact I have used normal fuel even in bigger bikes and mot faced any issues.

atul_chang Does the 390 power wheelie, read a mixed opinion about this. I know you are trying to keep it under 7500 RPM but still can you throw some light on this?

I see both 390 threads have become pretty silent. Is this silence before the storm ?

Saw the drag video. First thing was mistimed gear shifts on the duke not 1 but 3. Lost crucial time there.
Second if you read the comments below its clearly written by the reviewer that the rider on the duke was heavy, duke is less aerodynamic and till 130 the duke reaches earlier and there on the ninja is neck to neck till 165. That is a lot of dough from a naked street bike, goes on to hit a 170 kmph which is really good considering the fact that there is no fairing.
Another thing is the speedometer console very accurate on the duke, while its shows 170 the ninja shows 180 on its meter.
Tires and brakes better on the duke.

Now ninja is better in the city only due to the fact that it manages the heat from the engine more efficiently, channelling it away from the riders body. It still delivers its power at a higher rpm compared to duke. The fit and finish on the ninja is flawless and on the duke the only bad part is exposed wires and handlebar grips, bar ends from the pulsars otherwise, it also has very good build quality. Illumination is better on the ninja but very good on the duke too. Suspension is stiffer on the duke but still better tuned on the ninja. Ninja is more comfortable.

All in all I would be very happy to pay half the price for the duke and adapt to the few shortcomings of the duke. The performance is blazing. The duke also comes loaded with more hardware, abs, lot of info on the speedo, upside-down forks, led indicators, metzeler tyres.
Makes it an awesome, fun filled, vfm package.
The ninja might have the finesse but for me the duke has the character.

Called up KTM Pune. Its already 2 months since bike launch & my booking. Now they are saying delivery lot will come by 2nd week of Sep.
It seems they will stick to their committment in booking agreement, ie, minimum 90 days time LOL.

If you have booked the KTM 390 Duke in India, patience is your friend.

Character is the reason why mcn picked it over the ninja 300 in their comparo....

Lack of character is why I got bored of the docile cbr 250r easily and sold it.

Can you define character (of a motorcycle)?
