    To answer it shortly, the sooner the better. 7500 is too much an overstatement considering the conditions the bike will be used to. We definitely aren't living in Europe for that matter, nor do we have European air quality, nor the roads, neither the fuel. 3k or max 4k is the right ballpark we're looking at.

    I have finally decided to go with the D390 and will be posting pics soon once it arrives.

    One small question though, I have seen a lot of KTM riders suggesting to change the engine oil and the oil filter by around 3k KMS as opposed to what's mentioned in the owners manual which is 7500 KMS for longevity of the engine. Is it necessary? What do you guys think?

    If touring is what you'd require for, then go for the Duke 390. The ergo of the 650 isn't that accommodating for touring. It's a good city and occasional joy rides, but touring shouldn't be a comfortable one on the 650. One up, it can handle, two up, there is a lot to consider with the 650. In short, I'd recommend 390. Good luck on your choice.

    Conti GT 650 is great bike, it has good twin cylinder engine, its refined, sounds good and also looks good.
    But the character of both the bikes is totally different.
    Both are great highway tourers. Out of these 2 I would say that duke 390 would be more reliable as it has been in the market for a long time now and spares availabilitity and service is really good. Conti GT 650 still needs to prove its reliability overtime.
    It all comes down to which bike's character you like more.

    Hi everyone, after a lot of test rides and research, I have come down to two options, its going to be either D390 or the Conti GT 650.
    How does the 650 compare to D390 in terms of performance and reliability?
    PS - I'll be using the bike mainly for touring and almost nil local use.

    unfortunately ktm parts aren't normally available outside the authorized service centers. you need to buy the parts from them, and most of them will not sell just the parts.. seen it happen at other brand svc's also -they simply don't want to sell parts over the counter.
    if you have a good rapport with them, then you could get hold of the parts..

    now coming to the oil filter.. it is the easiest to obtain since it is the same as the one used in the pulsar 200ns and can easily be picked up from most spares or bajaj svc outlets.

    thanks for your reply , their quality of service is bad ,
    they drain the oil ,replace the filter and rings ,close the bolt .pour in the new oil ..

    for that they shit,ktm srinagar asks to call for an appointment and they make us to wait for hours.

    I replaced fuel filter,air filter and other small parts myself.
    recently cleaned throttle body ,now bike is better running .

    They do not sell it anymore, what does that mean? KTM has stopped it's service support in J&K areas?

    hi everyone I want to hear some sugggestions,I am servicing my bike at regional service centre but their work is not commendable as they only work for 30 minutes ,I am very much tensed. they never ask me for change this or this part ,only they mention how the bike will be out of centre within minutes,as they have too much rush.

    I want to do DIY for oil change , filter change but I am sacred as I dont have oil filter ,O rings or basically basic service kit neither ktm sells them now...

    please suggest what to do.

    I spent yesterday taking test drives of both duke and dominar and had the following experience -

    Duke 390 - its a complete hooligan. The bike begs you to ride hard, the seating was a bit on the harder side but thats something one can get used to I suppose. The only problem I noticed is the unstable idle RPM which I have also noticed on some reviews online, any comments on this?

    wobbling here I meant is CHAIN is very loose(going up n down like a loop ) even getting it tightened, .
    That's okay. Yes, if the chain is jumpy and noisy even after tightening and the sprocket is hooked, it's time for a replacement. Go ahead with the replacement along with the rear hub rubber dampers, it should solve your issue.
