If you have a 400ml C2 bottle, it should last you anywhere between 5000 to 10000 kms or more depending on chain condition.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thats an A+ job. Monitor the chain everyday as a part of coldstart checkups. Touch the chain and see if its wet or not (not sticky but wet). If its fine then keep continuing with the rides.Originally posted by Angurj View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Did a diesel clean and used Motul C2 as usual. Satisfied.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostKerosene and Diesel are very similar to each other. Diesel is perfect fine for chain cleaning. Petrol is harmful, it will cause teh O-rings to expand on prolonged exposure. And 2000 is too long, the recommended range is 500-1000
The chain "looks" dry. If it feels dry to the touch then lube it. Problem with Gear oil is that it collects crud much faster than aerosol Lube. You might have to clean it as well. Its better to invest in an aerosol lube can like Motul. The thing about chain maintenance is that you tend to use more of the Cleaner than the Lube.
140 is way too thick and wont provide any useful function. Instead it will get more grimy and gritty. Sae 90 is more than enough.
Also manufacturers use factory lube which is their special Grease on the chain not gear oil.

Only use kerosene and brush.

But when it should be CLEANED?
1) I'm attaching my chain's picture now, can I lube it now or it needs cleaning?
2) Is diesel + tooth brush method fine for cleaning?

Sae 90 is thinner and wouldnt last long !!
Also to add after new bikes are assembled at plants the engineers use Sae 140 gear oil for chain and then test it and are transported!!

Just to add, in the event that shoes are changed make sure to change both shoes and springs and grease the studs before inserting the new shoes.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostFor my GS it is 12-17 mm (1.2-1.7 cm). You can set it yourself by loosening the adjusting nut (near the wheel, on the brake cam lever) 1/2 a turn at a time.
Most people ignore to change the springs which is something I don't understand they cost peanuts in comparison and could leave you stranded when you least expect it.
Keep away from sand paper, just blowing the residue(use a face mask!) with a blower would do the job. If you feel that your shoes need to be scrubbed then you're better off replacing them. Reason for recommending against sand paper is due to wearing down the hub/alloy sooner than ideal if not done with caution.
