Don't.. The fairing costs 800-1000 bucks.. The sliders will cost 8000-10000..

I'd rather replace the fairing than install the sliders.. Nothing will happen to your legs.. It will be fine..

The 200 will come with ABS.. That's AFAIK..

I have some queries.
Yesterday i booked the rc200 at ktm guwahati. As usual it was not a pleasant experience. They have said it will take 30 to 40 days to deliver the bike. Is the waiting period still that long? And the ktm is manufactured here in India right? By bajaj? Because the showroom guy told me that it is only assembled in India and that's why the long waiting period. I couldn't buy that reasoning and as i was not interested to start an argument, so I let it pass. He was lot older than me so I obviously knew it will hurt his ego and turn into an argument if I tried to shed some light in it.
And one more thing, how can buy the insurance from outside the showroom? Because the price they have quoted is high, it is 4k ( which they quoted 6k the last time i visited the showroom). When I said that I want to buy the insurance from outside, they said I must buy it there and i can't take the bike out of the showroom without an insurance. So is it true?. According to them i must take their insurance which is Sri Ram insurance or something ( which i don't even remember properly and never herd of).
So please help me.

Take the bill to the insurance company of your choice.. They will give you the insurance document, throw a copy of the insurance on the showroom guys face and take your bike with pride... I used united India insurance.. 2000 bucks with zero dep...

The swingarm is fully cast aluminium so the sliders there will prevent it from breaking because cast aluminium is very brittle, and fork sliders will also do the same for forks.

Those are meant for paddock stands
And bike falls your fairing will take the hit swingarm and fork rarely touch the ground. I.e. if you fall side ways..
Also the sliders at one point rest swingarm or fork is open to take a hit.. :thumbup:

Yeah the bike is manufactured here in India only. The insurance cost is more or less 4k. I suggest you buy the insurance from the dealer itself as it would be easier to process if you want to claim it.

Yup, I am thinking of just doing that will save some hassle. I live more than 200 kms away.

30 to 40 days is way too much waiting time. Its normally less than 15 days and mostly a week in most cities. But am not sure about the logistics involved in Guwahati
Now coming to the insurance part, its a known tactic by the showroom people to sell the insurance along with the bike and most folks don't even question it or the amount.
You can definitely buy insurance from outside and show them the paper work, it will cost you less (6k was way too much, i guess its around 3200rs). And yes legally you cant take the bike out of the showroom without insurance.. but you can definitely note down the engine/chassis numbers and first buy the insurance and show them the papers and collect the bike. ICICI, hdfc have online insurance purchase facility.

First time when i visited the showroom they said that I may get the bike within a week or two, or at most within 30 days. But the last time when I visited it suddenly changed to min of 30 days at the least or 40 days. I just don't understand what they are trying to do.

I wish I could really do that. But sadly its the only showroom available here in Guwahati. So can't help it , have to swallow some of it. After all i will have come for servicing there only.

The funny thing is that when I tried to inquire about "why the so long waiting period as the bike is manufactured here itself". The answer was hilarious and mind boggling. He said that It is not manufacture here, the bike is only assembled by Bajaj and the parts come from outside. "Manufacturing and assembling are two different things" (as if I didn't know that already). So, that's why it takes so much time and he can't guarantee on when it will reach here. And the the final blow was when he said that we must just feel lucky enough that the bike is available here in Assam and shouldn't be worried about the waiting period. And when i tried to ask about when the lot arrives during a month usually , he just told me that it doesn't come like that. I was blank and I even asked if they just bring orders individually. Well the answer is still unknown as I didn't understand what he said or if he could say anything . I don't know. I think you can guess where it is going, so I will stop here. I don't know how I am going to deal with them.

The outer one with the sticker costs 4500.
And the inner one costs 1500.
Without labour.
The sliders costs 3000 and can serve you multiple falls

congrats bro! nd btw it purely depends upon the dealer. Yes I knw a few who got their bikes the next day but not sure if its a Sunday.

First of all..RC is a track-focused bike but that doesnt mean we cant use it for touring. What other choice do we have except you can afford another tourer.

Now touring is not gonna be easy on RC.
aggressive seating posture, less padding - riding is not gonna be comfort. You need to take more breaks to stretch and relieve your a**, palms, wrist, back and what not from the pain.
mediocre FE when compared to other tourers and small tank capacity - means more stops for re-fuel and not budget friendly.
with the ground clearance provided touring on say uncharted landscapes might be difficult so have to think twice.

So to sum it all up..if your friend is gonna get a RC for touring purpose ask him to think twice.
If he is crazy about sports bike then he can get the RC right away.
If he is mad about KTM he can opt for Duke but still not a good touring option overall but OKish for touring compared to other models or he can wait for the adventurer types might be out of budget probably.
Else its about time he started looking at other options.
