Can any1 please advise on this if I have to stick to getting 200 or shud I go with 390.

1.Been riding apache 180 for over 5years now.
2.Bike usage would be 70% highway 30% city on weekday commutes
3.Weekend would be a mix or may b tourin also.
4.Points 2 nd 3 are considered by taking my present Work location Chennai into account

Bangalore am not sure but probably will be in Bangalore outskirts as my company is in Bagmane Tech Park and I will be stayin nearby.

    Please advise, thanks in advance
RC 200 - better range - less fuel stops
RC 390 - better speed - more fuel stops

for highway [provided you train your body and mind and are fit] the 390 is better but you have to stop more frequently for refill

the reason - both are not touring focused. For city+touring = go for the CBR250.

BUT since you have a couple of tracks nearby, you are more luckier than me and if you pick the RC, please take her to the track to know what she is actually capable of. You simply cannot take her to her full potential anywhere but the track. it's a track-focused bike. period. we are making it into a touring - city - riding etc etc bike..

but on RC, you will enjoy the highway.. no doubt.. the 200 I felt is slightly less powered but if you are not a throttle lover like me, the 200 will fit you just fine..

but if you are a throttle crazy like me, yeah go and pick the 390, but you will have the bike heat up more frequently.

RC = if you want fairing
Duke = if you want a straight sitting posture [would be similar to the apache]

fun fact : the apache's bar end weights fit the RC 200 nicely.

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

Hey Ajay, I heard this from people about the Apache bar end weights fitting the rc200. Does it reduce vibrations or is it just for aesthetics.

I live in Delhi and use my rc200 mostly for weekend ride with my pals. But here's my two bits having lived with my rc for a year with mixed riding in Hyderabad and Delhi

        1. In city riding is better with the 200 because of the short gearing and always on tap acceleration for tight overtakes. With the 390 you can seldom utilise so much power and when I ride my pal's 390 I don't remember going to 6th gear within city. My rc390 friends like the 200 better for city
        2. On weekend rides I do feel its underpowered after a year's riding and I am considering living with a second bike with bigger engine so waiting for this year's arrivals
        3. Speaking about pure aesthetics, you attracts more eyeballs on the 200 than the 390 imho.

I hope I've helped make your choice although I know for sure in the end we go by our heart rather than logic [emoji12]

vibrations - I think it's placebo effect.. aesthetics - not really, but did save the fairing on one fall.. so yeah.. that's there..

Placebo effect ? There is a scientific reason why bar end weights are added to handle.
Bar end weights increase the total mass of handlebar, and in that path it reduces / alters the resonant frequency of the handle.
Results are the vibration which was felt in lets say 50-60kmph will now shift to some other speed.

Heavy Vibrations are the result of matching of natural frequency and speed of engine ( stroke / sec ) . When these two match , vibration occurs.

The material of weight also plays a major role in damping of vibration as natural freq is dependent on mass and stiffness.

So yeah , vibration is anything but placebo.

                    DAT user and DAT explanation...

                    Definitely engineer...

We are talking about bar end weights for RC200 not bar end weights on bikes in general...

So on RC200 specifically, I don't think it makes any difference to vibrations.. I'm going to add grips now to cut down vibes..... Wish me all the best.

Yes they could help if its designed around that particular bike.
But the point here is plonking in bar ends that were made for the apache on to a rc200 (which was designed without bar ends). So it's just like shooting darts in the dark.. and since ajay has used it am sure his opinion that it doesn't make a difference makes sense in this case.
me personally, have never felt the bar ends be of any use on any of the bikes i've ridden.. starting with the classic dbz which was one of the first ones to sport the bar ends in india. maybe i just like a little bit of buzz on the bars!

This is my first post here. Planning to get the RC200 on the 1st of feb 2016. I live in chennai, so i need suggestions on which showroom to go with. So someone who bought the RC200 from chennai please help me out- Mount road or Adyar?

Also, a few questions about the RC200-
Does it have backlighting on the switches like the pulsar? if not, is it possible to get it done?

P.S Great thread except for the last few posts about the death, RIP. Could we remove the picture please?

                                Peace
