I got a Low Battery warning four days before, I took out the battery and gave for charging in an authorized Exide battery shop. The charge was full, when connected to multimeter it showed ~ 13.4. After two days of running I am again getting the Low Battery warning. Is my battery dead or the alternator (don't know what we call it for bikes)?. My bike was idle for around 1 month, since I was out of town.
Is battery covered under warranty?
Strange, check with the svc then, mine doesn't make that sound even if i ride straight away without letting the engine idle on cold mornings.Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Low battery after charging the battery means, either your battery is nearing its life or the stator coil or alternator is not supplying adequate charging power to the battery. Either way it's a ticking time bomb, which can get you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Get it checked at the SVC.Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostNo, it's not. Thank you, yes it's a ticking time bomb. Not using the bike now and I am on the lookout for some good SVC.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostLow battery after charging the battery means, either your battery is nearing its life or the stator coil or alternator is not supplying adequate charging power to the battery. Bangaloreans, any recommendation for good SVC? Before the Battery goes completely dead I need to take it to a SVC. If no other option I need to be back at the Marathahalli SVC.

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
there is a proper method to check if its indeed the battery or the bikes electrical's at fault (alternator/stator coil or the RR unit). Any battery shop will check the voltage of not only the standalone battery but also the voltages at idle, and at around 5000rpm.Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostThank you, yes it's a ticking time bomb. if you want more info, a detailed explanation is given in the workshop manual.. google it and download.

Got a call today from KTM, asking me about the experience buying the bike from showroom, they told me this would go on record of the said showroom and i explained them in detail the pita it had been dealing with them and how they delayed the delivery. Any of you guys received similar calls after purchase.Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.

Thank you all, yesterday I haven't used the bike. Today morning with a doubt I started the bike and in the very first crank it started. No "Low Battery" warning came until I reached the SVC. To bring up the warning I even turned on the headlights till I reached there, but it didn't come. However, I informed them the situation, he immediately said it's the starter coil issue, we will replace.Originally posted by s1d View Postthere is a proper method to check if its indeed the battery or the bikes electrical's at fault (alternator/stator coil or the RR unit). I also reported the sound during cold start and I told him it comes near the air filter box. The sound is like a K&N conical filter sound and it can be heard at ~ 3-4k RPM. This happens only till the engine is warm after reaching 7 bars the sound disappears. He asked me whether you cleaned or changed air filter by yourself. I said no and the bike was serviced just 500 KMs before. He said he will check.
Also, he said I need to pay about 500 for labor. I asked him why, he said only the part is replaced under warranty but not labor. I told him I replaced Coolant Reservoir for free without any labor charges. He said that's a simple job, but this is complicate mechanical issue and I need to pay the labor, which will be "just" around 200-300 Rs.
Do they really charge labor for warranty claims?
Yes, even I got a call after a week or 15 days post delivery. Mine was handled better, so I said good things about the sales team.Originally posted by jRay View PostGot a call today from KTM, asking me about the experience buying the bike from showroom, they told me this would go on record of the said showroom and i explained them in detail the pita it had been dealing with them and how they delayed the delivery. they would even charge you for breathing the air at the svc.Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostDo they really charge labor for warranty claims?
tell them firmly that you will not pay and it should be done free of cost.
they tried charging me 100 bucks for replacing the front rotor under warranty. I firmly told them that I wont pay and they hurriedly scratched out that 'PJ' and labor from the job card.
warranty jobs should be done free of cost - both labor and parts.
I do tip the mechanics though, but i try to keep certain things the way they are supposed to be and not entertain such charges that are levied at their whims and fancies.. very few people bother to even ask regarding such charges, and these folks make it a habit.
Here is my job card from a warranty claim on the front disc rotor, and examples of how I comment and sign a job card.

It can cruise at 100-110 all day long but anything more than that engine would be running close to its full potential. For the speeds you mentioned you are better off with 390.

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
I am really confused between a 390 and 200. I am only knocking a 390 off because of its FE inside the city because my city commute is quite a bit and Bangalore traffic sucks. It would be difficult to ride a motorcycle which would be returning me 18-20 KMPL inside the city. Moreover, i am expecting that the RC200 will return 30-32 KMPL.Originally posted by jeyessh View PostIt can cruise at 100-110 all day long but anything more than that engine would be running close to its full potential. For the speeds you mentioned you are better off with 390.
Apart from that my cruising speed on a good highway will never exceed 105 110 kmph. Mostly I am a 90-100 kind of a guy.
120-130 i doubt.Originally posted by bikersdream View PostFe I can't comment but cruising at 120-130 is just very easy for bike, effortless.2003 - 2009 : Pulsar 150 Classic (Sold)

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
If you're coming from the 220, then yes this thing can hold on the upper band pretty much all day, sweet spot being 95 to 110, anything more and it does wring the throat. The RC can do it ease with compared to its naked counterpart, but you shouldn't have any problems, word of caution, just try not to keep it on the hot all day.Originally posted by smoker n doper View PostHey Guys,

And if you're planning to use these KTMs for city, rides, especially office commutes B2B traffic. Look elsewhere
