Yes, CBUs are sold as-is whereas you get a lovely grill with the CKDs.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostDS, then why IKM is not giving the 'beautiful barbeque grill' on the Z800, is it because of CBU ? And other smaller ones being CKD and sold under Bajaj??

No offense meant to any owners here

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
The pics were just outside my house, so no riding gear. dont worry i have the riding gear with me. I understand i need to take it slow. A leap from FZ 16 to ER-6N is huge and i can feel that. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
I too owned a fz. coming from duke let alone a fz you will find it very comfortable. I havent ridden a duke in traffic so i wouldnt be able to comment on that. Its bound to heat up a lot in traffic but not as bad as the dukes. It being a naked heat dissipation is better and you will feel the heat if you riding in shorts so as usual the advice is never ride these bikes in shorts for safety and heat.Originally posted by schizovivek View PostIs the ride better than on FZ? I've previously owned a FZ and Duke 200.. I really want a more comfortable naked this time.. planning on doing some long rides
And you will love the cornering too but dont push it till you are comfortable with the bike else you might face trouble as its pretty heavy compared to the previous bikes. I rode the fz yeaterday and it felt so light and easy.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
damn ! looks like you're pushing the bike to its brink.. good to see.. are you still facing the heating issues in traffic? Is it comparable to the heating of the KTM Duke 200 in traffic? I checked a few reviews before deciding on this bike.. they were pretty positive especially with respect to heat and ride comfort. Would love to hear your thoughts (I think you mentioned you're able to do about 600 kms without any issues right?) .. Is the ride better than on FZ? I've previously owned a FZ and Duke 200.. Been travelling to and fro from kolkata so was off riding. As soon as i returned me and a friend went for a ride to yercaud and the tlog is waiting for its approval.
The bike required a second service at 6k which i felt was more of a formality and a quite costly one at that.
The service consisted of washing, polishing, brake play and effectiveness check, chain maintenance, lubing moving parts as standard. I had my list of complaints ready. The new odo showed 99.9kmpl again so they said that they have to check with ecu now which requires a new or one from a totaled er6n after which the necessary step will be taken as the odo is not at fault now. They decided to replace the tank cap as it keeps vibrating.
So the customary service costed me 1210rs and most of it only labor cost. The bike maintenance is costly though there is hardly any labour done on it. For example see below..
1. Bike foam wash and polishing at a nearby place which does the job very well - Rs 110.
2. chain maintenance at ktm service itself - Rs 150.
3. brake checkup and cleaning approx - Rs 200.
4. Miscellaneous lubing and oiling - RS 200.
Total cost approx - Rs 660.
So as you can see the cost difference is too high. this is my estimate and I own this bike on shoestring budget and i pay loan every month so for me every rupee counts. The brakes have better bite now. lets see how it goes. Going to nandi tom to do the testing

I really hope the brake issue is just an isolated one.. any other 6n owners here in Mumbai? I'm getting my ride from the Kanjurmarg showroom.. On road price came upto 5.63 including the Zero Depth insurance..
Even I was told to buy the side bar as an extra accessory. But last I inquired they are yet to get those. Will keep you guys posted once its delivered. Going to make sure they test the brakes before I touch the bike!

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
1. Congrats on the machine. probably the most practical big machine in the country.
2. Kawasaki did their thing. They put their CBU s in Kawasaki showrooms and rest stayed where they were, with bajaj.
3. You cannot get infuriated with these idiots as it does not help. I used to be pissed off after every servicing at the Orion yamaha for one reason or the other. Keep cool and get your work done. Don't let them get under your nerves.
4. The brakes are infamous for being incapable. They are not good enough to stop a 200+ kg machine. That is how they saved cost because the engine and otherwise built quality is top notch.
5. I totally agree that it should be kawasaki's responsibility that their bikes, capable of doing 200 kmph, come with decent stopping power. But, for yourself and your dear ones, please get a steel braided line and better pads. You could still fight with them afterwards. It is just too much of a risk and not worth taking because of an incompetent kawasaki in india. And the kawasaki showroom experience is nothing too be proud of as per my experience with them. The lot are largely incompetent. Again, urging you please get your lines and pad upgraded.
Also, as for 0 brakes on the back wheel, check the master cylinder since you have already bled the lines several times. Get it checked outside the service center too please.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
I had this same issue with my pulsar 220. Even if I stand on the brakes it would have no effect. It would work when cold or sometimes when warm, it had a mind of its own, while other P220 though spongy still worked. The service centre did everything, use sandpaper on pads, new pads, bleed and bleed again the fluids. Nothing worked.Originally posted by cheran4200 View PostMine are non existent.. Even standing on rear brake pedal doesnt stop the bike at crawling speeds. If they are not ready to make by bike safe or the brakes work as they should then I won't hesitate taking legal course..I had enough of their apathy towards me.
Then after almost 30K kms, a local mechanic found that the oil pressure was not reaching the brake piston due to grit causing it to jam after use, this lead to overheating of the pads, glazing of the pads and in the end the dead pedal feel. After he fixed it, the brakes works just fine. I later found out that I could have got it replaced under warranty.
Record a video of the mechanic riding the bike at slow speed, apply brakes and show the stopping power. Send it Kawasaki and claim warranty for the entire brake set or at the least get the pistons cleaned. AFAIK kawasaki is very proactive with its customer support if not service support.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
Just for this part - Because it is India! They sell ABS models across the world because they know they'd be doomed otherwise!Originally posted by cheran4200 View PostWhy dont they recall the bikes and fix it or is it again a matter of few thousands which the customer doesn't mind spending so why bother attitude.
Anyways, try the sandpaper thingy on the pads once. Zero feedback from the rear is very shocking IMHO.
