Avoid TVS, MRF, RALCO, EUROGRIP tyres.

About the battery change, do remember to take a sealed battery. I have Amaron. No further damage to the battery box. I wish I had taken it (sealed battery) when I bought the bike.
Hey Dude!! How are you? It's a long time since I posted about my bike. The battery was changed to SF Sonic last year when I serviced. I still haven't changed my tyres but got my bike serviced last month. Need to change the engine oil. Thinking of going with Shell advance 20w40 this time as well. Is there any other oil better than this? If not I will go with the same. Few other issues are:

    1. Front wheel is making squeeking noise when I ride in 2nd or 3rd gear. In top, I don't hear it. Not sure about the issue. Noise is also there when I rotate the wheel manually.
    2. Indicator knob is not working properly. For now, only right is working. The service person tells I need to change the complete case, which may cost around 500 rupees.
    3. Right Mirror could not be fixed as it keeps rotating.
    4. I hearing some thud noise when I leave the clutch. Not sure if I am leaving the clutch too fast and not smoothly.

Other than these issues, bike is doing good. How is yours? Any updates?

      Hi.
I am good. Glad to hear from you too.
Sorry to hear about the problems with your bike.
      1) The front wheels will have to be removed and checked for the bearing and it's interface with the axle. Also dismounting the front wheel will also give you an opportunity to clean the brake drums & liner (replace if needed). The dust and grime / worn out liner rubbing against the drum may lead to further damage of the drum, hence would need to be looked at a.s.a.p.

      2) Use WD40 spray liberally, there may be some accumulated grime on the indicator terminals. If confident, then opening it up to clean is also an option. Last option is to replace, which is fairly easy.
      3) At the handle end or the mirror end? Either way replacement is needed. Original mirror requires a 17 no. Open spanner.

      a) Mirror end quick fix is to apply Fevikwik inside the rotating joint area whilst rotating the mirror, this ensures uniform spread and holds for a few days to weeks, depending on riding conditions.

      b) Handle end, either mirror or the other thread is lost, use a teflon tape to give more thickness to the thread.

      4) I am not sure about this one. I feel the Clutch needs to be adjusted, if the clutch plates are worn out, then replace it along with new oil. I am using Shell Advance 20W40 only. On a separate note, this time I was late to change it. 4K kms, mechanic was like, oil is still good. I insisted for him to change it all the same.

Glad to hear that you changed your battery. Cost? How is it? Mine was losing charge quickly, managed to get it replaced under warranty FOC. Now the world is beautiful again...[emoji1]

All the best with your bike.

I have been busy with my JAWA, even so CT100 didn't create a fuss. Good bike...

Planning to take my bike to the Mechanic to fix the issue# 1 with the front wheel. I don't think I will be able to remove the wheel and fix the issue myself.

Regarding issue# 2, let me buy the WD Spray and try that out tomorrow. if it doesn't fix, i will think about opening.

Regarding issue# 3, it is at the Handle end and the thread near to handle is lost. Should i wind teflon tape on thread in mirror and screw it into the handle?

Issue# 4, i will wait and see as don't notice the thud sound that frequently.

Looking for some deal on Shell advance 20w40 in amazon, if it touches 250 rs i will buy. Why don't you post some pics of your JAWA? When did you buy it? Whats your feedback on JAWA?

The above is a link to my Jawa 250 Thread.
          Issue 3, Yes.
Issue 2, You will need that 31 in 1 screw driver set too, in case you need to open it.
          Issue 4, okay.

Hey Dude. Gone through the pictures. Your Jawa looked very nice after renovation. I have heard the sound of Rajdoot, Yezdi, Enfield and Bullet in my childhood days but Jawa. How does it sound by the way? I mean it closely resembles any of the above?.

About my CT100, the squeaking noise in my front wheel has been fixed by the mechanic. Interestingly, he said the issue is due to the speedometer cable. He pulled out the wire from the cable and applied some grease/oil to the end and the noise was gone.

New issue is I begin to notice some sound when I change gears (like from 3rd to top). Something hits 2 or 3 times and once I accelerate after changing gear there is no noise. Mechanic says it may be due to the Chain sprocket but I changed the chain sprocket only during my bike service last month. I am planning to take my bike to the Service station sometime next week to see if it's due to the Chain sprocket. Too bad the streets near my house have bad roads and so I keep holding bike's clutch so often that I am not sure that is causing the chain to get frequent loose. As you know the other issues (like indicator, mirror) are just cosmetic ones and so I can take them up slowly.

Chain Sprocket issue is fixed in the Service center by tightening the chain. What is the price of the indicator light? My Left rear indicator has got one wire cut and the hinge is slightly broken even if I apply quickfix it is coming off in few days.

Here you go. As you can see in the picture the Hinge where I plug in the indicator got damaged a long back. Tried applying quickfix and wrapped adhesive tape couple of times but it won't stay there for a long and comes off in few days. Then I also let the indicator hanging like that for some time and it caused the green wire cut off. Mistake from my end. Click image for larger version

Don't change your indicators. It is a bit of Do It Yourself.
                    1) Remove your seat.
                    2) Trace the wire from your left rear indicator upto it's 1st interface with the main wiring harness.
                    3) Use a 14/15 no. Open spanner to remove the indicator from the mudguard (purple)
                    4) Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws indicated in yellow.
                    5) Strip off some of the wire indicated in red and joint the two ends and use Electrical tape on it.
                    6) Remove the orange glass and reflector of the turning indicator.
                    7) Insert the black frame of the indicator on the "hinge" part.
                    8) Now use the limbs on the reflector to fix / lock in the hinge part.
                    9) Test the working of the indicator.
                    10) Reinstall the orange glass and then fix the indicator on the mudguard.
                    11) Connect the wires green to green and the stripe to its colour.

                    Job done.

Thanks! The indicator was working before the wire got deattached. I will need to try step 5, though I am not sure i will be able to strip off the wire as it got cut too close to the hinge part. Is this why you want step 1, 2 and 3 be done so that i will get some wire to strip off?

Step 7 - I will have a problem with inserting the black frame because as i told earlier the hinge part was already damaged near its end. Are you able to notice this in the picture? The end of the hinge has some damage.

Yes for 1st part. You need to strip very less wire approximately 3mm on both ends. Try not to exceed the thickness of the insulation material when you use the tape.

For 2nd part i.e. step 7, use the hot gun type glue. Atleast your indicators will remain original. The OEM ones will break at the bolt / nut side, with the stud bolt coming out of the black end when the nut is tightened.

Wait for the glue to dry completely and then place the orange glass and tighten it's screws.

Question on the engine oil - I have changed the engine oil (shell advance 20w40) in March and the bike ran approx 2000 kms till date after the oil change but now I am not able to see the engine oil in the oil level indicator. When I park the bike using straight stand and check at the engine oil level indicator it does not show the oil at all. I have to tilt my bike a little bit towards the oil indicator side to see the engine oil. This looks strange because I have seen oil start to get dark after some period of time of oil change or bike crosses approx 4000 kms after oil change but the indicator always used to show the oil level. Something has changed in the recent time though I did not feel anything different while riding the bike. Also, the last time when I did the oil change the mechanic told me he could see only a little amount of the old oil. Do you suspect any issue with the engine? Is it consuming too much of engine oil?

On level ground on the main stand, you needn't have to tilt your vehicle to see the oil level.

Are there any obvious points of oil leakage on the ground where your bike is parked?

Is the area around the clutch cover i.e. RHS kick lever side wet / oil stained? Look on the underside as well. Check the area around the drain nut. If there are wet areas / oil + dirt stains, then the gaskets in that location will need to be changed.

If above is absolutely normal then, is the exhaust smoke white?
Are you hearing any abnormal sounds when the engine is running?
If yes, then you are burning the engine oil. The piston & rings would need to be changed.

Get your bike washed thoroughly. Check visually for any cracks (very highly unlikely) on the underside.

Apart from these I can't think of any other reason why your engine oil levels should become low.

No oil leakage on the ground where my bike is parked. I am planning to take my bike to the mechanic. Please help me out here. Besides engine oil problem, there is an oil leakage found in the front Fork tubes (both sides) couple of days back. I used to notice the black carbon like dirt in fork tubes and wipe them off before but now there is a oil leakage itself. Both indicators are not working now. Not sure if its a wiring issue. My bike service is also due. I need to find out a good mechanic this time instead of giving service in a Authorized Service centers (as they are charging too much for service). Do you know what all should I ask the mechanic to do as part of the service apart from above issues i mentioned? Is there a checklist of some sort? How can i choose a good bike mechanic? All these questions are delaying my bike service?

I used to notice the black carbon like dirt in fork tubes and wipe them off before but now there is a oil leakage itself. Both indicators are not working now. Not sure if its a wiring issue. My bike service is also due. I need to find out a good mechanic this time instead of giving service in a Authorized Service centers (as they are charging too much for service). Do you know what all should I ask the mechanic to do as part of the service apart from above issues i mentioned? Is there a checklist of some sort? How can i choose a good bike mechanic? All these questions are delaying my bike service?
Indicators either wire / bulb. Since both are shot, just check the wiring by removing the seat & checking for any loose connectors.

Front fork oil seal needs to be changed in all likelihood to stop the grime / oil leak from the forks.

Checklist - use the one in the user manual.

Regarding a good mechanic, first know what needs to be done. Ask questions. You may end up stumbling a few times before you find a good one.
The extra money you spend will be tuition fees for this learning experience of identifying a good mechanic.

                                All the best.
