Please check oil level after putting your bike on centre stand.
it's highly unlikely that your new motorcycle will be burning oil.

Was the bike parked on sidestand when you checked the oil level. Check the user manual, about how to check the oil level.Originally posted by kingslayer View Post
Hey, guys. Just wanted to pick your brains about one thing.
The bike has done about 120 km, and I went to take it out this morning and found that the engine oil was completely gone. Zilch; nothing. I park it in my garage so there's little to no chance of any leakage, as I would spot it, so signs on the engine as well. Could it be that the engine is burning it up due to poor sealing inside? If so, that would be a HUGE bummer. Any other possibilities, you think?

Starting off the bent radiator guard, get it replaced. Secondly, the small chip on the bottom tank weld seam is seen on some lots of the bikes, don't worry about that. Secondly, to the pressing issues; the sealant that you see is absolutely normal, give a small peek under the fuel tank where the valve cover is, and you will see enough sealant oozed out from the factory that is perfectly normal. Most of them will give away after washing and general use, they're absolutely harmless. Most bikes have excess sealant cooled off that way, perfectly normal.
Secondly, the oil level being visibly high is absolutely normal. You'd be surprised even after your first service, the oil level will seem to be always full, it's nothing of a discomfort and it's perfectly okay. Just make sure you use the recommended 2L every service and you're all set. When you mean, the bike veering to the right with both hands off I reckon you were riding and if that's the case, all you need is to adjust your T stem slack, a tight one would mean it would veer to a certain direction, that's normal on most bikes, and all it takes is a few seconds to get it slacked.
Also make sure you have the correct tire pressure. From my experience, the bikes have crazy tire pressure values, some extremely negative and some are way too optimistic even from the factory. Set your tire pressure to the recommended SOLO 25 front and 32 REAR.
There's absolutely nothing to dismantle except the bent radiator guard, that's a bummer to be honest. But from the pictures, the rest seem to be as it should be.
Good luck.
Cheers!

Indeed, I was to post the same picture -- two pictures of the same here. Glad you did it. On a lighter note, the only thing that's missing is wings for the motorcycle to be airborne. We'll have to see how this pans out, seems as though it is a production spec version that is being tested. Hopefully, the dash looks concise and doesn't swing a leg afar. Interesting times with RE. Keep your journey logged here.Originally posted by Gopi27k View Post
Thanks mate B7ACKTHORN. I got a call from my dealer about this and he informed (info from RE to him) that Production has been stopped for now, and RE is looking if they can update the Himalayan with new features and release it soon to the recently booked customers or else they will delivery the bike as usual and launch 2021 REH with new updates after some months. Its already 80 days for me, and he asked to wait for some more time... Fingers crossed....!
Good luck mate.

The Tripper system isn't a bad one after all when compared to a faux compass that has a mind of its own. I would suggest, you wait and get your motorcycle. Either with improvements or not, these little perks do tend to sweeten the overall ownership experience of a new bike rather than "Oh I missed it by an inch" feeling.
Good luck.

Also saw this spied shot of Tripper system. I feel its ugly, it would be good if they remove compass and keep Tripper in its place.

You get SMS from RTO only for the Road Tax+Cess amount, it wont have mention of the remaining amount collected for Smart Card, High Security number plate and some under the table commission for RTO bribe and Hidden handling charges(The court says its illegal, but dealers continue to do so).Originally posted by kingslayer View PostI got a text from the RTO confirming the payment of an amount which was about 2k lesser than what I have paid to the dealer, I was told i wouldn't get the receipt for about 800-1000, so I am fine with that, the rest I will talk to them about.
Would post the update.
So this is difference of around ~1000 should be ok.
There is already a elaborate discussion on this topic on another Bhp forum, you should get your answers.Originally posted by Gopi27k View PostMy delivery of Himalayan BS6 is around the corner (May be 10 days or so, as informed by dealer). Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 booking - Proceed or postpone?
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...-postpone.html
In short, if it is the Engine you care about more rather than fancy Bluetooth gadgetry, then go ahead with your buying choice, as 2021 model will not have any major engine changes.
But if you really want USB, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a new Model Year(MY2021) mentioned in your RC Card for resale value purposes etc etc, the you can wait for another 6months.Last edited by kiran2508; 01-04-2021, 05:53 PM.

Thanks, Kiran, and a happy new year too. I dug as deep as possible to understand the documents they'd provide me with. if you read my reply above, you will see that the dealer still hasn't confirmed to me the manufacturing date officially. It is supposed to be on form 22, but the representative sitting there told me that she prepares the form 22 herself. At first they were only going to give me a single document: a "disclaimer" which would have all the details from the RTO registration including the engine and chassis numbers. I have requested them to give me a copy of all the documents that they would submit to the RTO, they seem to have obliged. I will go and pick them up tomorrow. I got a text from the RTO confirming the payment of an amount which was about 2k lesser than what I have paid to the dealer, I was told i wouldn't get the receipt for about 800-1000, so I am fine with that, the rest I will talk to them about.Originally posted by kiran2508 View Post
This link is one for cars but you can apply most things to bikes aswell https://www.team-bhp.com/advice/pre-...pdi-check-list
The section Before Registration: part covers the PPI aspects, basically it applies before a particular vehicle is assigned to you.
Ask for PRO-FORMA INVOICE for every last rupee you pay and all adds up etc etc. Hope you'd have gotten a generic idea of PPI.
Would post the update.

Hi, a happy new year to you guys. My apologies for the delayed update, have had a busy new year. So, as I mentioned, my last post was early in the morning on the day that I had decided to take the delivery despite some of the issues I thought were present in the bike on the day before.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post

Firstly, big thanks to you guys for the answers put my mind at ease about a lot of things especially the ones like the engine sealant.
I was lucky enough to ride the bike about 20kms on the first day even before taking the delivery, the dealership guys are a bit amateur and while that has a lot of cons, this certainly proved to be to my advantage. Fortunately, I knew about the tire pressure as well and got it figured on the first day itself. Did have to ride a few km with 10psi though.
As has been decided with the dealer I took the bike early in the morning from their showroom being accompanied by one of their representatives to a guy who does wheel balancing. Much to my heart's agony, we opened both the wheels and he balanced them on his rickety setup which wasn’t even wide enough to fit the rear wheel. In the end it didn’t really help with the veering as I had thought. All the people with the dealer are fairly incompetent including the ‘head mechanic’, so they seem to be clueless. I have about three more steps before I join them in the land-of-no-clue. After trying the T-stem slack, I will try to see if the wiring is too tight on the stem as was the case here https://youtu.be/9ksabr0d3Pk, and then finally will see if the forks are proper or not.
Despite having persisting issues, I accepted the delivery on that very day as I didn’t really have any other option and the bike leaving the minor issues was genuinely in a good condition.
Just to cover all bases, before I arrived at the dealership on the second day to get the wheel balancing done, I dropped an expansive email detailing everything to RE, including the fact that the odometer wire had been disconnected when I first rode the bike and the other issues. This along with the fact that I received the bike 15 days after ordering, makes me just a tad bit suspicious about the history of the bike and how it has been used. It might just be my suspicious mind, but where people are having to wait up to 90 days at some places, I got it under 15 days of booking, it makes me curious about the journey of the bike from the origin to me. I did manage to capture a sticker on the bike on the first day which said “Date: xx Nov 20”, it also had the engine and chassis numbers. Although it didn’t say manufacturing date, only ‘date’, I am guessing and hoping that’s what it means.
Still, I am trying to get an official confirmation from the dealer about the manufacturing date and if the bike was parked at some other dealership before getting to me. There is a possibility that the bike was transferred from one dealership to the other due to my request to get it in under a month. But then it makes me wonder can it be bcz it was rejected or had any defects or was a test -drive vehicle. After dropping the email, the dealer got in touch with me and explained the disconnected odometer cable by saying he did that so that the reading wouldn’t increase while they transferred the bike from the ground floor to the first floor. Talk about coming up with the worst possible excuse. In any case, I am thinking if I should just drop it, or should continue to pursue it to get to the bottom of this and get a final answer from RE directly, they certainly would have all the details. It might affect my relationship with the dealership though which isn’t ideal as I do plan to avail their services long term.
Another new issue I think I found is that the fuel meter isn’t accurate at all, either this or my bike is guzzling fuel like liter bike.
The dealership is saying that the radiator guard is fine and doesn’t need to be changed, and on that, I am really on the fence, it is just a slight bend, one where the bottom part of the grill has a slight wave which you can press down on and then when you let it go it pop backs up. Are you able to see the wave or bend in the pics? In the second pic of the radiator the one where its side profile is more visible, it might appear to be more bend than it actually is bcz of the reflection. In the first pic of the radiator, if you notice the bottom left half that’s where the bend and wave are. VJ said to get it replaced; VJ what do you think after seeing the pics? I don’t want to be a jerk to them and give them a hard time. They say it is the same with all new Himalayan grills.
On a side note, the head mechanic who was with me, on the first day when testing the bike with me, twisted the throttle like the bike was his s&m partner. And kept explaining to me how I shouldn’t stop him from doing that, bcz the bike’s in warranty and “if anything breaks company will fix it”, and moreover, I should be doing the same. I hope the half km of instant acceleration wasn’t enough to scrape the heart of the bike, it certainly was enough to scrape mine.
Also, I ordered the leg guards from Zana, the off-road kind. But then spent hours staring at pics, and realized if the bike falls my legs would make the contact with the road before the crash guard does, so then I canceled that order and am thinking to order it from a4 moto designs. Even the a4 design isn’t perfect, and their left and right guard get fixed together in front of the bash plate, and I feel like that might torque the chassis in case of a fall. But I just don’t see any other suitable options. Which guards are you guys using?
Also, ordered master cylinder guard, and oil reservoir guard. I have used a Himalayan quite roughly from Rishikesh to Chopta, in the monsoon, powering through all types of roads, and the only thing that broke was the reservoir. Also ordered a cheap disc lock alarm, just to fend of people trying to get on it. I am keenly interested in the Oxford Boss lock though, but it will take a while before I can get my hands on that, fortunately, that will give me some room to think if it really is worth it. Next on the list is, to weld some support to the rear rack, buy a top box (probably from asg), knuckle guards from ktm, as barkbusters are too costly.
Hopefully, this isn’t too long and boring. I have almost no social media and never post stuff. But given the help that I have gotten from this forum, it feels like cheating to just take the help and run, I do plan to keep contributing to pay it forward.

Thanks a ton for the insight!
So, I had to leave to get the delivery soon after I made the post but fortunately, I was of the same mine about the PDI check. So, I did make sure to try and check everything as thoroughly as possible. There seems to be a small chip on the tank at the bottom border but while mine was a bit more prominent the tanks of all RE bikes in the showroom had similar marks. Also, the metal cover for the radiator seems to be a bit bent but this also I think is minor. I will attach pics.
Now to the more prominent possible issues. There is this white sealant where this wire goes into the engine. I am not sure how appropriate it is to have such an openly visible sealant there and what does it signify. Maybe you folks can help. Also, the engine oil level is significantly higher than the two lines on the hole from where you see the oil level. This was even after the bike had been running for a while. The dealership has been very persistent that there is nothing wrong with it and that the oil isnt too high.
The reading on the odometer was around 4 when I got it, but then I realized that the wire connecting the odometer to the wheel was not connected! this has further raised my suspicion about the handling and history of the bike even though everything else seems to be alright. but who knows, maybe they disconnect the meter for all their bikes?
Now the main issue: I also tried to check the handling of the wheel alignment. And when I try to leave both hands on the bike, it veers strongly to the right. So I think there is a substantial wheel alignment and balancing issue. Do you think it could be anything else? I think this is a major problem as on long rides it would be troublesome, and nevertheless, the alignment and balancing of the bike should be perfect, which in this case given its complete inability to stay straight when left on its own is just not there.
I have the bike with them overnight having discussed getting the wheel balanced tomorrow. I am not very happy that the new bike has to be partially dismantled like this but cant say I am surprised.
Secondly, the oil level being visibly high is absolutely normal. You'd be surprised even after your first service, the oil level will seem to be always full, it's nothing of a discomfort and it's perfectly okay. The section Before Registration: part covers the PPI aspects, basically it applies before a particular vehicle is assigned to you.
Some dealers allow you pick one bike from their stockyard out of 100's of bikes. You can pick bike with latest Date of Manufacturing of the bike, Date/Brand of tyres.
Also during transit, loading, unloading some bikes might have some damages or scratches, you can reject such bikes during PPI, but once the bike gets assigned your name and sent to RTO registration, you cant do much about rejecting that bike during PDI as the VIN already registered in you RC card apart from replacing parts later on, which will feel bit wired on a brand new bike.
Few other things covered as part of PPI, verifying the Fitness certificate, RTO amount being charged and tally with your states tax slab, Cess amount, to figure out if any hidden Handling charges is being charged and all amounts tally up, also if you buying your own Insurance from outside, negotiate the same get the process initiated.
Ask for PRO-FORMA INVOICE for every last rupee you pay and all adds up etc etc. Hope you'd have gotten a generic idea of PPI.

Hey, thanks for the help! I did go through the PDI post and also downloaded the checklist for REs. When checking, I went through all the things mentioned in the post by VJ. However, I can't seem to find anything about the "PPI" neither did I find any excel sheets (I made one of my own from the PDI thread). Maybe I am unable to find it as haven't yet mastered the forum format. I'll keep looking, if you do have a link for an excel sheet or on PPI checks, it would be great if you could send it my way.Originally posted by kiran2508 View Post
There is pinned Sticky thread in the main forum section called PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection), give it a through read, there are total 4 pages in that thread, go through everything.
Get yourself a checklist for PPI (done before a bike VIN is assigned to your name and before sending the chosen bike to RTO) and PDI (done after RTO process but before taking delivery), either print out or a excel sheet in your Google drive. There are so many pdf's/xsl's available in other forums.
All the things in the checklist are pretty much self explanatory.

From my ownership experience, RE doesn't allot random bikes. RE books bikes on a customer billing basis. Though there can be a stock of one or two bikes, those will be allotted to a prospective customer if he opts for the color and what not. If not, the bike stays not booked till it gets booked. If a same dealership has multiple showrooms then sometimes, the backlog can mean, they shuffle and spread the bikes to their other showrooms so that it gets diluted as soon as possible. Brand new bikes won't be rejected for defects as such unless something major and multiple bikes having the same issue is extremely rare.
If you like a color and plan to purchase the bike, make a thorough inspection as detailed in the PDI thread. Basic checks like that I'd recommend, check engine oil level, start the engine, listen for any unnatural sounds, make sure every electrical aspect of the bike works, lights, indicators; make sure there are no MIL lights on on the dash after the engine has fired up, check your tire pressure, brakes, mirrors for looseness. Start off from there. Good luck.

Can't say how thankful I am this forum exists, on top of the help and advice, it is just great to be able to share the details of the uphill journey it is to own one of these.

My main concern here is that I do not want a bike that has been rejected due to performance issues or any other defects. He says the manufacturing of the bike is in early December and after it was delivered it has been in the initial dealership.
I was wondering if anyone here with some inside knowledge can shed some light on if what he says makes sense. Is the process of allotment and delivery of the bikes by RE random at times? Also, is it probable that one of the colors hasn't been in demand for about a month? Also, would you say it is probable that the bike is completely fine and doesnt have issues? Are there any precautions or checks you would suggest I take before taking the delivery?
Season's greetings, and tHanks in advance.
