Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Both Front forks leaking oil within 1500 km is really unusual. Usually oil seals doesn't come under warranty. But as this problem occured within first service It must be replaced free cost covering under warranty.Originally posted by varungzb View Post

1st service is done on my rtr200 and it has just completed 1500kms and both front shockers are leaking oil. Is this repair come under warranty? What parts come under warranty, like handle coneset, piston-rings, rear shocker etc? just asking because i am now concerned about the bike's quality.

You need clean and lube the chain every 400-500 kms based on the dust you accumulate on your chain.Originally posted by abdeali96 View PostDoes anyone here self lube and clean the chain? Looking for tips and product recommendations also.
First for removing the dust and grease residue, use diesel/kerosene (kerosene is more recommended) with a spray bottle, then wipe your chain with cotton cloth.
Then you can use any lube spray/gear oil for lubing.
If it is gear oil you are using, it needs to re-applied every 150-200 km, it wears out quickly also it will be messy while applying. If you are patient enough with the process, gear oil is mostly recommended.
Or you can always use lube spray. Even though everyone recommend motul chain spray, I find it costly and doesn't see much difference from other lube sprays.
I started using TVS tru spray and it is good enough and value for money kind of thing.
Happy Biking!!

If you are saying that the noise is coming when the bike hits the pothole then please check properly it may not be because of chain but can be because for swing arm hitting the main body. check any of the both sides footrest inner part hitting the main chassis part. check for markings.Originally posted by Satyampalai View PostHii guys,
Anyone facing chain noise issues? Everytime the bike hits a pothole or slightest unevenness on road there is a khat khat noise. It's from chain. Like chain hitting something. I got it checked from svc. After adjusting chain slack and applying lubes also same problem persists. Sound gets worse with a pillion. Svc guy told me it's normal. It's just noise from chain slider. Is it? Mine is a 18 model completed 6000 kms only.

SVC Generally use TVS TRU 4 SYNTHETIC OIL IN Apache 200 & 160 4v models . The price you've mentioned is right and it can be ridden somewhere betweenOriginally posted by abdeali96 View PostWhich engine oil do you guys use for apache 200? Which engine oil is the best?
Which engine oil does official service centres use? I tried asking the, they don't give anything specific. They just said we use tvs synthetic oil. I was charged 638 rs for the engine oil. Any idea which oil are they using?
4K-5K Kms .

The fuel tank comes equipped with anti-vaporizer ! I hope it isn't a problem .Originally posted by abdeali96 View PostI have purchased a used apache rtr 200. I was getting 35kmpl during initial days (I rode it on highways for a couple of kilometres). Now in the city I am struggling to get 25kmpl.
I also have a feeling that fuel is leaking from the tank. My bike stays in the sun for most of the day. Can there be a evaporating issue?
(But Parking in rainy areas will cause rusting of metal parts!!!!)
Reg. Mileage you should change the engine oil , spark plugs, air filter if necessary.

It is not a big deal, but still this issue in a premium offering is slightly disappointing.
I totally agree to you, it does not make any difference in performance.
When I put 5th gear, it never show in the panel
(I think as per that I never put 5th gear in my bike
),or sometime, I get error "Check Gear Sensor".
At last, it is really disappointing that even TVS is not able to fix the same. I hope they come back with proper solution.

If that is for periodical service (no issue with crank or piston), then I don't think that you have to replace the EV, piston & rings.Originally posted by rsree View PostHi Guys,
need some clarification.
I have given my RTR200 for periodical service - got checked @ TVS Service centre. estimation done for change of parts - engine valve, piston & rings.
I have previously owned Honda Unicorn, where I have not faced any issues with engine life.
Need to know, whether Valve, Pistons & rings are covered in Extended Warranty. Since my vehicle has covered 33150 kms in 1.9 years (daily use - 60kms).
Also need to know whether anyone else faced these problems.
I would suggest you to check with SVC, why they want to do or if possible, get your bike checked with any other SVC. If they are suggesting for the replacement, then there should a valid reason. Or you can check with area TVS ASM for same if you are not getting any support from SVCs.
Hope everything goes fine.

And WOW! 37KM/L and that too in the city--- Thats rediculous, I hardly get 30 from my bike and it is really well maintained(2016 model).
I ride mostly in city between 60-80 KM/h Max. Never I have gotten that sort of mileage. Whats your secret?
Hi Rahul,
Thank you for your comment.
Below are things which I am used to:
- I try to ride with constant speed (less use of clutch, gear, breaks).
- Most of time I ride at 71KMPH speed at 5KM RPM
- Air in tyres are maintained and chain is properly lubed.
- I get the fuel tank full, then once fuel level comes with reserve, then again get the tank full. Based on that I calculate the average is always comes near about 37 to 37.5 KMPL
- I ride solo
(most of time)

You are right about the feedback, but Cold Start/Gear Shift Noise, are issues which has been resolved properly
Cold start: I was facing this issue in earlier days when I was new to this bike. Got to understand about the same. Also, SVC tuned the carburettor along with RPM as per the requirement and till date I have not faced this.
Gear Shift noise: It is every common that with normal run, dust gets stuck in front area of the sprocket, which cause gear shifting noise.
As a solution,
- I open the front sprocket cover and perform the chain cleaning properly (every 500KM) and maintain the chain lubed over 250km or as required.
- Also, please make sure that chain should be properly adjusted along with wheel alignment (as per swing arm).
- Clutch should be adjusted (based on the requirement)
Even, if you are facing this issue for long, get in touch with SVC, hope they should get it resolved.Last edited by Sudish; 05-16-2019, 02:21 AM.
