Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
For some reasons, My bike didn't come into reserve last time. Usually, it comes around 325-335kms with full tank. This time, odo shows 351kms and no reserve. When I refuelled, It took 11.3ltrs of petrol No Trip F indication also. I doubled checked the fuel switch and it was on main not on reserve.
Anyone faced same issue or know about the cause? Bike completed 6250km.
Also, during Heavy Traffic, the clutch release on 2nd or 1st gear gives 'kat kat' sound. Any idea about this?
Anybody has done ceramic coating or 9H coating in Bangalore? Is it worth?

Please don't let non SVC guys to touch the bike. You could void your warranty.Originally posted by w4rrior View PostEven I feel service guys messed up something. Is the sound comes when you release the accelerator?Originally posted by RahulT View PostFrom the last couple of months I am getting a weird noise from silence intermittently. Like the noise we hear from auto silencers. Not sure what is the issue. I have done around 19.5K Kms. Bike is regularly serviced. Any idea what it is and how to resolve?

Escalate your issue to TVS that you are having issues post service.
They might have left the screws loose and might tinkered with carb settings.
The bike was designed to withstand triple digit speeds for long time. I kept my bike between 90-100 for 5-6 hours continuously, the bike was butter smooth.
If you want to take it to your SVC first to register your disappointment and then let them know you're going to escalate the issue to TVS, you can do it.
TVS have a tight grip in their post sales service quality, and rating for their service.
So the SVC will hurry back to your issues.

I'm pretty sure this is just because of the improper service. Escalate your issue to TVS that you are having issues post service.Originally posted by w4rrior View PostHi guys, I've done around 1000kms now. Vibes are a lot more than expected. There's buzzing at tank, handlebar and even pegs while cruising at 80kmph. This is kind of annoying when going for long rides. I feel the bike was smoother before and became a bit rough after service. Also I don't think my carb is tuned right, this might be the culprit. There's cold start problem and idle rpm fluctuates while starting in the morning. I'm sure my bike can do better and I don't even know any good mecs around. Is it just carb? Should I try tuning it myself? I've watched videos on YouTube but never did it before.

Cold start problem arises if the environment is very cold during nights..! Orelse you can try switching on :Originally posted by w4rrior View PostHi guys, I've done around 1000kms now. Just crank the self start and meanwhile slightly open the throttle. (say 2-3K RPM For atleast 10 secs) Then slowly release the throttle to idle !! I'm following this method daily (Nomore cold starts nowadays)
Reg. Vibes ! I can't comment as I own 160 4v .But 200 shouldn't be bad either.

I'm just about done 5000KMs and two long trips.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostBy the way, How much Kms you did ? And share any of your sweet memories with RTR 200
Both the times I just came around the half of the state on two 1000 kms trips.
Bike is just solid and perfect for long travels. The sitting posture is perfect for me.
For the time being I can't travel much due to personal reasons.
Will share the details once I go the distance.

Thank you! Will try them next time.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View Post@Arunachalam @ayrus ,yup !!
As said earlier I got my bike done servied and all I would say is it's PERFECT !! Not actually exaggerating , they must have got the prompt name too : It's BRILLIANT TVS !
People are responsive and the senior mechanic was pleasing . Definitely I would recommend this ASC for fellow riders who reside nearby Tambaram circle. (CHENNAI).
MY BILLED AMOUNT WAS AROUND 500 ONLY .
INCLUDING NEW AIR FILTER & SPARK PLUG .

Thanks for the info buddy.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostLOL ! Who the hell is that mechanic ?
Firstly the thing about FS Oil is that it contains more synthetic molecules than any other engine oils andso they're priced high. Usage of FS oil reduces wear and tear of the engine parts and ensures better engine life. I doesn't mean that SS or mineral oil are not capable. They also have that tendency but not as much as FS oil !
Edit :**Due to this reason ,it's mandatory to use FS oils in bigger engines! Probably bikes above 200 cc .
Coming to the point ! As you've mentioned that you're riding only less number of Kms monthly hence you can use SS oils on safer side. It's better to change it every 2500-3000 Kms .(Based on usage)
And the chain dragging sound in the initial gears might be arise if :
1. Chain is dry/Dirty
2. chain is loose
3. Improper slackness
HOPE THIS HELPS !!

So I think there is no problem in using SS one.
Regarding chain, I’ll check it soon.

Hey i had the similar problem. Dont get the work done from SVC. They just now to increase the problem. I am busy at work so cannot write up here. Msg me your number. i will call you later. You don't require to change the entire block.Originally posted by Clydo View PostMy engine oil levels are dropping ..when I last changed my oil the mechanic told me that less oil drained and now 1600 kms later 600 ml dropped .The svc guy says it's a block issue and the entire block with packing ,rokers(not sure if I'm spelling it right) and clutch setting and housing will have to be changed with a cost of 15k+ ..The bike is 28 months old running on stock clutch plates and done 61,300 kms till now ..I'm.confused if I need to incur such a high cost or is it just the piston rings worn out? The bike isn't emmiting any black.or white smoke though

LOL ! Who the hell is that mechanic ?Originally posted by Harry J View PostHello all,
A query regarding the oil be used in RTR200.
I gave my bike for first service and my bill was around ₹500 only.
But, here most people are telling above ₹700.
So I enquired what oil did he use.
Unfortunately it is TRU 4 Semi synthetic one with red color bottle.
Does it affect the bike in any means, since manual says to use only Fully synthetic ?
I have to admit that, my monthly ride will be lesser and I gave my bike for service with just 300 kms on ODO.
(This is due to non availability of proper parking space at my work location. I’m using public transport for 40kms up and down)
When I questioned him, he says if we use synthetic oil, the engine should run some decent number of kms else it will affect the parts and using synthetic is of no use then. So he says to go with semi synthetic one. However I think the grade is same (10W30).
Won’t this cause troubles to the engine ?
But, I can’t see any major change in performance and all.
Also, 2nd and 3rd gear makes some sound (Like Tannnggg) while upshifting but 4th and 5th are crisp and smooth. Is this an issue with the riding habit ? Or due to low rpm gear changes ?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
The sound from that point will be more like air escaping. The metal gasket costs 10-15 thereabouts and is a 2 min job. If the silencer is still moving even after tightening the bolts, replace the gasket.Originally posted by Manash Roy View PostThe sound is kind of metal brushing on metal.
