Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post in xbhp and in this thread, I purchased a Dominar 2019 last year in October from Whitefield Bangalore Khivraj and quite frankly it is an Amazing machine, I have clocked around 2050 kms till now and most of it is in city ride conditions with few short rides outside the city, I had the coolant issue at initial run-in period but it got sorted after first service and no problems after that, but for the past few days I am seeing a problem of strange noise from engine it seems as this is a background sound other than the engine sound which feels more like hissing sound and tapping little bit , honestly I don't know what that could be or have some one else experienced it as well, I took it to bajaj service centre at kasturba road Bangalore but as usual they told nothing to worry about and tightened chain and some bolts and then after that it did not occur for few days, but I experience it tie and again not regularly though, does anybody knows what could it be. I have attached the video link :
of the engine running in neutral with strange sound in background for more info.

I am sure dominar owners from pune can you help you out with a test drive on their own bikes, let's wait for any generous owner to respondOriginally posted by _kamikaze_ View PostAny idea if Dominar is available for rent anywhere in Pune ? I want to book the bike but hesitant to book without doing a proper test ride. I've been to the showrooms in Wakad and Wakdewadi but neither of them have the Dominars in stock for a test ride since the last month or so and their response is quite frustrating.

Front is two piston floating caliper which has pistons on one side only and the disc is fixed type not floating. Floating disc has the rotor riveted to the spider and has some play.Originally posted by arya809 View PostOn the topic of front disc brakes, I couldn't find any info whether it has 2 calliper pistons (with floating mechanism) or 4? Few days back I was looking at my 2019 Dominar and the inner calliper looks as if it has got pistons too (I am not an expert so it's just a guess) making a total of 4. Few auto journalist websites do mention that it has 4 pistons, they could be wrong though.
I am asking out of curiosity, and if it does have 4 pistons, then 2019 dominar should have significantly better braking than earlier ones, isn't it?
The rear is again single piston floating caliper with fixed type rotor.

It has run about 1800 km and since the last 100 km, I am hearing a knocking sound from the engine.
A visit to the service centre revealed that the CCT has to be replaced and as the part is not available, I would have to wait for the part to arrive from Pune.
It has been about 10 days that I am waiting for the part to arrive. This issue seems to be very common among the 2019 Dominar, and I would want to know from others if changing this resolved the issue for them?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
When the bike is cold, the so called autochoke engages to make sure the engine warms up faster, it's tall taken care of by the ECM. Once the engine is warmed up, the idle will be perfect. It's basically, how we use manual choke to start old bikes, the bike does it automatically till the required engine temperature is achieved. Nothing to worry. If the bike revs to 4k every time, even after the engine warmed up, then you have to get it checked.Originally posted by Ghost11 View PostI have a 2019 dominar and recently I noticed that during cold starts the bike intially revs to 4k rpm and then settles below 2k rpm. When I start the bike after it has run a few kms or when it is already warmed up then it only goes to 2k rpm. Is this normal? If it is normal then doesn't it actually cause more wear and tear by doing so?
Cheers!

Switch to Sintered pads if you want to improve braking performance. You can read my previous posts regarding them.Originally posted by kp4144 View PostI have a 2019 UG, got it in May last year. Even though this is my first proper motorcycle, I can comfortably say I'm "used" to it now, after 10 months of use. Also, direct brake feel is not what I am referring to. Even though the brake feedback is progressive, there isn't enough initial bite on the front. The rear is just pathetic, it's not even reliable. I've ridden bikes from Royal Enfields to KTMs, and none have this bad of a brake on the rear. The front is still a different story. Under hard braking, it stops better than most bikes in this segment and ABS is non intrusive, works flawlessly. But riding in traffic, you wouldn't want to keep pressing your lever hard just to get a little bite. I started looking at upgrades due to this. I live in Bangalore, and I have extremely long traffic holdups. All I'm trying to do is make the traffic ride as less of a pain in the butt as possible.
