There is some rusting on the engine casing. Bajaj has offered to replace the engine casing free of charge. Question is should I get the engine opened up or just get a paint touch up done?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Short Review of my D400 2019 UG :
Well, i've ridden it around 8050 kms and its mixed emotion for this beast. I'm 5'6" tall and have 92 kg weight, I've ridden it not more than 180 kms in single stretch and found myself adjusting to the seat every 40-50 km of ride, i wish the seat could have been more comfortable. The apt Cruising speed is 90-110 kph where it feels relaxed and has adequate torque to pull ahead. With pillion its hard to travel long distance especially if you've bag ( even if its 1 laptop bag with clothes for 2 riders). I highly recommend installing tour kit on this bike. Bike has given me consistent mileage of 27-29 kmpl in City and 32-33 in Highway if ridden at 90-100 kph. Bike has tappet / shims issue which was rectified in 2nd service but has appeared again. I'm waiting for 3rd service to get it rectified. Till then the bike makes some clunky noise which i don't like at all. The bike engine has some oil leak from left side engine packing , i guess during 2nd service they didn't properly fit the engine packing. I've changed the coolant to MotoCool Expert and it stays cool comparatively to Bajaj Koolant. There's no drop in coolant level after 2nd service ( 5000 km ) which is good. No tyre / ABS / Puncture issue till now. I've touched max 160 for very short period and bike pulls relentlessly. The front brake bite is good but rear brake is too bad. I've hit a pothole on highway at around 80-90 kph and it hit hard , but no dents at all. Overall, i'm satisfied and looking foward to enjoy more miles with it.

Check out Royal Brothers. They have Dominar 2019.Originally posted by _kamikaze_ View PostYes there are but none of the ones which have an online portal have the Dominar listed in their fleet. I figure if I like riding the rented bike, a new one should be good enough.
After an email to Bajaj customer service and a call from the Pune Sales manager, I got call from Sai Service and Garve Bajaj but they initially said they didn't have stock of the bike to offer a test ride. Another weekend later, I again checked with a Mr <anonymous> at Sai Service, who arranged for test drive but as always they disappointed by offering a test drive within their campus.
The worse part of this entire experience was that you ask anybody about test drive at the showroom and their first response is there is no stock. I checked with the Huqsvarna/KTM desk if they have received the Huqsvarna so that I could take a look at it, and response was no stock. Go to Bund Garden showroom on Monday 6 pm, there only stock will be available. Since Pratik arranged a test drive within campus, I decided to try it out. They took me to the basement where they store the new stock and behold ! there were 3-4 new Dominars lying around. And also the Husqvarna Svartpilen !! In another area, I saw a couple more Huqsvarna bikes partially unwrapped. So I'm wondering why the lies ?? It's not like I'm going to demand for a test drive, why couldn't they entertain a prospective customer ? It's like they aren't interested in making a sale. Do they expect that a customer is going to buy a close to 2.5lac bike without so much as checking it out ?
Also I was told in confidence that they have received no stock of the Green color D400 since Jan, and a few customers have opted to just take delivery of the Matt Black version. I'm not a big fan of either color and even among those two, Bajaj is not supplying one color. My enthusiasm in buying the Dominar has died a bit thanks to Bajaj and their awesome customer sales, probably going to delay the purchase a bit.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi Guys,
I need to buy a used dominar. I am selling my CBR250. please guide me with the following questions:
1) since the bike was launched in 2016 and the facelift came in 2019 ,I need to know if there was any iteration(with respect to ECU update/part update etc) that came in between.
2) were there any particular time period models that i need to avoid due to recalls or anything like that.
3) is there anything particularly like known common issues that i should be checking dominar.
Thank youLast edited by Sahil Goel; 03-11-2020, 03:24 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Write the email to bajaj customer care in detail as you wrote above or give them a call.. Bajaj customer care will get in touch with your nearby ASC to get the problem solved.Originally posted by BPdt View PostHi, I have a Dominar UG-2019, which is around 2500 Kms old. Since the purchase, the rear wheel feels jammed and does not move freely. I can hardly feel any torque in 6th gear and it becomes really difficult to overtake after crossing 90 kmph. I informed about this problem to the service center during the first service(~500 kms) and visited service center again regarding this problem only, at around 1000 Kms. I even demonstrated the problem to the mechanic by comparing the rear wheel rotation of my bike with that of another Dominar which was there for the service and mine required much more force to rotate it compared to the other bike. But each time the mechanic just cleans the brake-pads, checks the rear wheel alignment and assures me that it's rectified but eventually the problem persists every time. I am planning a solo bike-trip of ~2500 kms in next month and I want this problem to be fixed before I start my trip. Can someone please suggest what might be the possible reason for this problem and has someone else faced this issue before?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Happens when the caliper piston is outward and not retracting completely. Remove your rear brake caliper, bleed the entire rear brake system. Thoroughly service your caliper by removing the caliper pistons. Also, in the process, make sure your rear wheel bearings are in good shape.Originally posted by BPdt View PostHi, I have a Dominar UG-2019, which is around 2500 Kms old. After installing the caliper, make sure the caliper works only when brakes are applied, and notconstantly applying force on the disc by itself due to piston extension.
Keep us posted.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi, thanks for the reply , yes that was engine warmed up sound I had rode the bike for 20 mins or so, and radiator was on as well, I was really worried that something was wrong with the motorcycle engine, so glad to have this awesome community that we can share our experiences and help others, Thanks !
Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIf that's the engine warmed up sound, I don't hear anything that's worrysome. The engine seems to sound like as it should, nothing dramatically different. Motorcycles when warmed up, especially singles and will produce mild tappet sounds. The current batch of Dominars do seem to have CCT issues, but yours doesn't sound like one. If the sound increases and is prominent every time, then it's time to get re-inspected.

I want to book the bike but hesitant to book without doing a proper test ride. I've been to the showrooms in Wakad and Wakdewadi but neither of them have the Dominars in stock for a test ride since the last month or so and their response is quite frustrating.
