A general query to the RR310 owners. What's the BHP mentioned in your RC books/cards? Because mine says 25.
OT- Also, people in Chennai, why have we gone back to RC papers from smart cards?
    AweSome is too LesS!

I am yet to get my RC book but remember reading form 20 (rto's new vehicle registration form) and also noticed hp filled was 25. I brought this up with the dealer who mentioned this was the hp listed for apache 310rr with tn rto but shouldn't matter as the rto never verifies the bhp while completing registration. Will anyway reconfirm with them about this. You should too.

Side note: I got the first service done a few days back but really disappointed that there was no improvement with the vibration issue. Not sure if its an issue with the specific service center but it felt like they just replaced oil and lubed the chain and not much else in the first service. Engine note is more bassy but no other improvement of note. The service head tried to justify saying tvs was working on an upgrade to the handle bar dampers and will call me as soon as they got the upgrades but I am not satisfied... Expected more from the bike and service

Its 25KW which is mentioned in RC, which equals to around 34hp. Yes its a mistake of TVS dealer who gave info to RTO, but doesnt matter much. Just the unit is different

          Hey guys,
Got my motorcycle on may 19. Here is the ownership review of 1st time bike owner.

PSA: If you are in Tamilnadu and planning of getting rr 310, dont go to Sakthi sarada showroom in Coimbatore. I had a very worst experience there. As i said in previous posts, i had booked the bike 2 months before. On last Thursday i went to inspect the vehicle in the showroom. While i was checking, there came another guy, who arrived to the showroom in Mercedes Benz. I talked with him and he said he had also booked the bike there. He was allowed to test drive his bike but i was not allowed. The sales exec said he had connections with MD. So he had his exclusive rights. But what broke my heart was he had booked the bike just 7 days before. But we were delivered our bikes on the same day. Then i came to know that, All these days those disgusting people in sakthi sarada show room were delivering the bikes to local people with influence who had booked after me. But they were declining me a bike even after i paid 3/4th cash. Those people in Sakthi Saradha show room wont follow any booking date queue and they have no business ethics or what so ever. My advise is you guys try to stay away from them.

Coming back to bike, lets talk about the design. Well, I am pretty much a super star in my home town now. Where ever i go with my bike, people ask about it. many of them take photos of the bike. I think TVS has designed its Magnum opus. I am really proud that an Indian company have designed a vehicle with such aesthetics, fit and finish. Many of the 2 wheelers guys want to signal stop race with me. In particular KTM riders behave like snow flakes. They ride very rashly and overtake my bike as soon as they see me. I initially assumed the bike will attract a bit of attention in road. But i never thought i would get this much attention. But in my personal view, the bike has lot of empty space inside the fairing area. The bike looks splendid from a third person point of view. But when you view from the rider seat you do notice the bulge and empty space. I want to disclaim here that i am a noob to sports bike segments and this empty space might be the same case in other sports bike like r3,rc390. Other than that, this bikes scores a 100/100 in looks alone.

Lots of you guys talked about the NVH levels of the bike. Yes you are right. Vibrations are present in the bike to tiny extent in handle bar and in tank area(even in low speed). May be this could be a limitation of single cylinder engine(or is it BMW fault?) So if silky smooth ride is what you want from a bike, then rr310 may not suit you. So there's that. But Neither it affects the riding quality nor it makes the bike a performance slouch by any standards. In fact this bike is a speed demon. It can go ultra fast with in seconds. There are almost no vehicles in road that this bike cant overtake. I might be exaggerating. But for a 1st time bike owner, this bike speed will feel like a warp drive. And ABS brakes works great too. i practise them daily on lone roads. To new riders like me ABS electronics are really a boom. when ever emergency situation arrives on road, you can just grab the brake without worrying about wheel locking at all.

Ground Clearance of the bike is really good. I was really worried that the bottom fairing of the bike would get scratches from speed bumps and pot holes. But its not the case though. This bike has better GC than some adventurer bikes out there. Rider seat is comfy & has lot of room to move around while riding. But They could have done a better job in designing pillion seat. Talking about engine heat, I feel only a mild hot air below my knee. The bike does a good job of deflecting heat away from your leg. Just dont place your legs near fairing vent. Instrument cluster panel has plethora of options to choose from. Bit of an overkill for normal road commute i would say. What they could have done is add 'back' button in panel console. What I mean is, when you navigate through menus, and miss a particular menu, then you will have to press the button 17 times again to revisit the desired menu

Also if you are accustomed to 150cc bikes, getting used to this bike may take some time and training. As other forum members has stated, the bike stalls & switches off vehemently if minimum speed is not maintained to a particular gear. Whats dangerous here is, it locks the rear wheel in the process. The engine stalls & lug in the following scenarios: in 2nd gear if speed<14 kph, in 3rd gear if speed <21 kph, in 4th gear if speed <30 kph. I used to travel in bumper to bumper traffic in 2nd gear in my friends bike, i used to pass speed bumps in 3rd gear. But not with this bike. This bike is unforgiving when it comes to speed to gear ratios. Another annoyance is, to remove rider seat, you need to remove pillion seat first, then pull the string there to remove the rider seat. Bit of a hassle. And pillion seat compartment is vey small. Not a many things you can store there.

What i wont agree with some of you guys is the mileage of the bike. There was one guy in this forum who posted a image of 50 kmpl. Either he needs to check his instrument panel in service centre or he needs to quit his shenanigans. After i read his post, i believed i could milk out better mileage from this bike. But I was wrong. This bike gives 25-37 kmpl range at best. Be it the highway or traffic ridden roads(or how much constant throttle you apply through out the ride u apply if that matters). Of course, the IMI panel shows above 40 kmpl sometimes while riding. But after some turns and corners, at the end of the day it averages to 30ish range. Nowhere near 50 kmpl. Yeah haters gonna hate. But liars gonna lie too. Anyway, we do not buy this bike for mileage. dont we?

To summarise my review, if you want to make your neighbourhood jealous of how cool your bike looks, if you want a very fast bike, and if your budget is around 2.25 lakh, then Apache rr 310 is the best bike you can find in the world. Note i said world instead of India. Seriously TVS has done a marvellous job of building a super bike barring a few niggles. I would gladly recommend Apache rr 310 to anyone who is in the market for a quarter litre bike. This is the 1st mega hit of TVS. So they lack a proper bike distributing network. Just choose your dealership showroom wisely. And finally, if you live in a small town with this bike like me, dont forget to sign autograph to your bike fans. lol

Haa. That should be the case. Ninja has Bajaj 250 written. So, this is better. Any idea about smart card RC?

Not sure about RC. But my Ninja had Ninja only written in it,manufacturer was Bajaj Auto Limited and model was always Kawasaki Ninja. Again, its in the hands of the dealer.

                  They use semi synthetic oil.

                  Motul 3000 4T 15W50 oil. Lasts upto 5000kms.

Ok, I'm a bit confused now.
Isn't 3000 series a budget end of Motul range?
All details of the oil shows high detergent content and to be used in Royal Enfields.
The good semi synthetic starts with 5100 and even that has a life of 3000-3500 kms.
I've never considered this oil for my P220 which has the same grade range(20W50).

                        Congratulations mate.
U can try adjusting the clutch free play, too much play would stall the engine while leaving the clutch and make it difficult to ride in city. try to find the sweet spot. Nevertheless, engine lugging should be avoided.
I totally agree on the menu selection back button, also it would be nice if the selection button is on the switch gear instead of near the console.
Mileage would improve as you put on more miles and so does the engine.
                        Wish you safe miles.

Yes it's in the budget end of the series. However tvs does give you options to choose from.

It's always best to do run in on semi-synthetic oils.

The reason why the 3000 series was chosen was that People tend to create a ruckus when it comes to servicing costs. The engine oil was tested for 1L kms plus on this motorcycle and that's alright.

And intervals at 5000kms, no worries here. 3000kms done already, will upgrade to liqiimoly later though.

Yes I did get the rubber padding fixed in the fairing in an earlier visit already. That reduced vibes from the fairing/tank to an extent but handle bar vibes are my biggest peeve.
Acceleration could have been a bit more punchier but very happy with the bike in all other aspects. The vibes though..

Serviced at Dhiraa TVS where I bought the bike. The only good part was they delivered it within 3 weeks. Poor experience otherwise with them (including 3 trips I had to make to the rto to process regn, bike was driven by them 80km extra by them prior to delivery as a result, during which time they also reached top speed of 128 (was 114) when I inspected the bike first), service booklet misplaced by them, etc...)

Will go to another service center the next time.

Handlebar is definitely getting an update, we just need to wait a bit.
Yea, its better to change the SVC and see for any improvement.
For registration, i always prefer to give the affidavit for local address proof in the area close to the showroom, and since i have many relatives in Chennai, its easy fro me. This way the rto office and showroom will be close to each other.
