Nitrogen is good in the summer and when the tyre gets punctured as Nitrogen being heavier than just would not leak out completely like air.
My stock sprocket was changed after the bike tyres were replaced, that would be around 10K or so.
My bike is at 27K now and no problems so far other than the gear slips between 1 and 2 which is horrible.

I don't use nitrigen. Its not that useful in daily riding conditions. The air contains 70% nitrogen.

May be nitrogen would be the issue.. am using nitrogen everytime including monsoon.. The feed back is terrific in wet roads especially with pillion... Even small turns at 70 will make the rear slip..[emoji17]

Hey,

Michelin is good in wet conditions provided the tires are filled with air and not nitrogen.
Nitrogen being heavier is good in summer and spring as it keeps the tires from wear and tear (You would know this i am sure).
But during Monsoon i switch to air as the tires get warmer and the ride is better in wet.
Yes better than factory, tried the below things mentioned and Michelin was better than factory.
Difference b/w 110 and 120 is that the mileage can reduce and there would be more wear for the sprocket and then chain tends to loosen faster.
Needs to be oiled every 250 Kms(standard is 500 Kms).

For oil i found Shell AX7 Semi Synthetic to be good, i feel engine bit smoother than the stock TRU4 oil from TVS. (Dont go for fully synthetic ones they are waste of money imo)
for headlight bulb, i recently changed to osram night racer plus. Provides good illumination at night and beam throw is way better than stock. Light tends to be on white side.

Don't go for Michelin... For front it's good.. but in the rear its terrific on wet roads.. cant past 65kmph in wet, tyre will lose grip even on small turns..

Oh my god! I initially thought i was the only one having this problem. Then came to know that even the Apache 200 has the same problem.
I think i have found what is going on. I noticed that, while tightening the sprocket side of the nut(i.e 27mm nut) the axle rod tends to move out of alignment, and this in turn pushes the right side nut to move back(i.e the axle becomes cross). And as you ride, the wheel tries to correct it self and as the adjustment screw does not allow it to move forward, the sprocket side goes back (i.e to straighten the axle) and the chain becomes tight.
I recently re adjusted the chain, but this time i first tightened the right side nut slightly so that it does not move(and again checking alignment), then tightened the sprocket side nut. Also keep forward tension on the axle while tightening the axle nuts.
Have ridden only 50kms after doing so, so its still too early to say if it worked or not. Haven't faced any problem yet.

I don't have much experience, but i think, no service centre of any brand is very reliable (no offence to anyone), even if the people of the service centre you talk to are very friendly and all,for the people working on your bike, it's just another bike of their shift. So i guess you have to just find a reliable mechanic close to your place. And also make sure he's doing his job properly.
And how's the Michelin in wet conditions? Is it better than the factory ones, and do you find any difference while riding between the 110 and 120 rubber?

Need a Relaible TVS Service Center

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a reliable TVS Service Center in Bangalore.

My bike: TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS is having issues.

1. Metal crunching sound from the Front brake
2. Leaking Fork oil from the front forks.
3. Gear slips consistently between 1 and 2, ends up in neutral.
4. When i turn the key to start the bike, i get no response at times and then after about a minute it lights up.
5. Engine De-Carbonizing - (I believe its supposed to be done at 20K kilometers but i have no guarantee that they did it.

Does anyone know a service center that would cover the problems. I usually give it to Trijal TVS in Whitefield, but i am having minor fears that the work may or may not be getting done correctly. Cause: In a month or two i end up going back to the service center with either similar ones or new ones.

Bike History:

Its done 27000 KMS in 4 Years.
Single owner(Just in case)
No accidents what so ever.
Factory Oil was bad, used to burn at post 500 KMs. Used Shell initially , On 10,000 Kms switched to Motul 7100.
Replaced Tyres with Michelin Pilots - rear is now 120/80, TVS is 110/80(Factory).

Most probably a leak from the exhaust. Check the gaskets and if no issues, the entire length of the pipe.

Welcome to the Tribe brother, indeed a very Solid choice the RTR is.

I believe the showroom Folks are generally pathetic everywhere so you will need check the bike properly for any defects and missing accesories, I had once given my bike for service in the nagharbhavi showroom(I don't remember the name) and I was not happy at all with the service. I presume that sales will not be anything great. I suggest you buy the Bike in any showroom but find a Reputed Mechanic who will look after you bike well. As RTR needs careful attention on certain areas like Slight oil leaks from head(depends on Bike to Bike again) and Tappet tuning which the TVS SVC folks might not bother rectifying.

just out of curiosity is the RTR 180 going to be your first bike by chance?

Guys am facing an issue with the engine... The exhaust sound is different than the last service.. its not much grountier as in other apaches.. also hearing sounds similar to gas leaking sounds from the engine.. anybody have any idea??? Serviced on 40000kms and running on 43200 kms..
