Recently booked 2017 tvs apache rtr 160 matte blue ,BS4 engine model for my friend .thought of sharing some pictures.

Help me to get sticker kit for apache rtr 160 2008 model

My tank side sticker got damaged, since its a 2008 model apache 160 I am unable to find the sticker kit from service center, help me source this

My bike is giving me weird noise in exhaust silencer. Something like screw lose.
I checked myself and all nut/bolts are fit. Local mechanic said some rubber is missing and he said to check with SVC.

SVC guys are saying that something is wrong with welding and need to check with company if warranty can be claimed to replace it. For this they decided just by revving bike in idle and listening to sound. And told me to wait for information till Monday.

Just wanted to check is this covered in warranty or do I need to makeup my mind for paying? If so how much?

Checked all these things...Still the problem persists..Getting those jerks only under 3rpm..After 3rpm the ride is smooth and no jerks....

Even checked tci, tps by changing them with my friends bike...

Check the air filter
Clean the spark plug
Clean the Carburettor
Change the Accelerator cable
Change the Clutch cable
Check for rust inside the Fuel tank - if there then change
Tune the Carburetor - Important - all the problems lies here !

Just do service at every 2500-300 km for mineral oil or 4000 km for SS/FS oil

Have to remove and repaste the gasket maker again.
RTR has no gaskets like other bikes,its just a metal to metal with silicone gasket maker.
Get some Anabond 999 gasket maker (grey).
Remove the head cover clean the joints,use anabond and again install the head cover.
But new o rings for tappet covers.
Also replace the timing chain cover.
Just crossed 15k kms and I'm also facing the same

Need some help here...my RTR 160 is 4yrs old...Recently I have been facing hiccups problem at low rpms like 2-4 rpms...What could be the problem..??

Hi everyone,

Another beginner query.
I will be going out for some multiple short trips from next weekend which might cover total of 1000kms in 6days span.

I have my bike service due at 2.5k-3k. My current odo days 1800. I'm thinking to get early service done this weekend and have next week as post service runs. Is this overkill and not required??

Or if I service after trips it would cross 3k, so is this not recommended??

So far no issues with bike but need advice so bike isn't harmed.
Please help.

I don't know if you did the write thing or not. But, glad that you are safe. Most of the time, our brain will tell us what's best to do and we react based on that. It's always best to take the less riskier option when there are multiple options to escape.

Hi all today I saved myself from bad situation. Might not be perfect/proper way but this happened instinctively. And this post might not belong here either.

An incident happened just 4hours before(7pm) with me + my40days old RTR160RD. I was driving on middle lane(NH7, past Ecity) in 50s. Leftside was BMTC bus moving, right side was a newly bought Ashok Leyland lorry with no fittings, backside was few other 2-wheelers plus cars I guess were coming and in front was infamous Indica cab.

Round 1: Since Indica started moving right slowly I started to move upfront from left end after giving 2 good horns before proceeding. I don't know what happened to that driver 4 seconds later, he suddenly came left and I had no choice but to horn and move front(RTR confidence) because I was almost 70% front of him. I thought that was close one but the very next second I realised that another long-lorry in front suddenly surprised me since it started taking right diagonally covering 2 lanes completely. This was the moment I thought I am gonna hit straight at it but somehow I managed to glide past long-lorry from right because in split-second I saw nothing behind in middle lane through mirrors and yet again RTR confidence.

Round 2: 2 seconds later I was in middle of long-lorry and new ashok leyland lorry with a little more speed. In front of me I see another lorry breakdown in middle lane just like 50-100m upfront. My brain calculated that chances of me stopping was less.

Since I had 2 option at that split-second to decide take left/right and squeeze through risky lorries or try stopping and if fails get crashed at low speed atleast. This was the time I decided that I will trust my bike and gut not to speed at this time. It was a tight brake with different mix of front and rear disks. No locks or slide; I stopped right in front of lorry with just few cm's of distance. Luckily nothing was behind me in middle lane and I then took my route back safely after things look clear. The only thing which I did with intention here was to keep my bike straight no matter what so braking was inline.

I am no expert but I just wanted to share so others can avoid accidents and be safe since accidents doesn't always happen at higher speeds and can happen even at bad lane timing.
And to mention this is definitely not the safe way to avoid these scene.

Lastly no scratch or problems to anyone or vehicle. Happy ending.

PS: I never had a fall till date on a two-wheeler including bicycle luckily so no idea how it actually feels.

Slight Oil leak in Engine head covers - Apache RTR 160

Hi guys, My apache 160 has run 23.5K on odo, i see a slight oil leak in Engine head, to be exact leak is near tapper cover and timing chain cover(shown in pic) in left side of Engine

1. how to solve this leak
2. should i be worried of white smoke in near future because of this leak

Note: I changed oil in my bike recently, i see this problem after that, i checked oil level with dipstick and its full, before changing it was between full and low mark that time i dint see any leak, now if clean leak and ride 100 kms i see a slight leak again near timing chain cover

Well you can do that, but you will have to change the whole rear disc assembly. I guess it will be too much modification required to fit a rear disc. You will be better off with the stock setup or else I think it might need little more cash than required.

Hi guys
I own a 2014 TVS PHOENIX 125 .
I somehow managed to bend the rear alloy due to bad roads in my daily drive . Svc mech says I need to change my rear alloy and also swingarm which is a little bent on left side. This vehicle share many of its parts with Apache rtr 160. Now I want to know if I can replace these two damaged parts with disc version of alloy and swingarm so that I can get rear disc brake for better braking??
