Re: APACHE RTR 160 gives low mileage even after servicing.
Get the engine head and pistons decarbonised. The engine might be facing loss of compression. Add new piston rings if possible and change air filter. Check oil level with the current state of bike. If the bike is drinking oil then you might wanna get the engine work done.Originally posted by vkihell View Post

APACHE RTR 160 gives low mileage even after servicing.
Hello!
This is my first post on this (any) forum, so apologies in advance if make any mistake.
I own APACHE RTR 160 of 2010 model which just finished 50k km. Its has always given me an average within 47-55 km. Some months back there was an oil leakage from the engine head which i got fixed from a local mechanic at hyderabad. After that my bike started giving random average which was less than 20 km/ltr. So i serviced my bike from another mechanic but the situation did not improved.
After bringing my bike back to Nashik Maharashtra i got it some how fixed but the average this time was 38-40 km/ltr. This average was constant for some 1000 km but then again it dropped to 30km/ltr and did not improve.
Finally i went to Authorized TVS service center and told them the whole story. They performed regular servicing of my bike and told that if mileage did not improve then piston and some other parts need to be changed which would cost around 8k.
Has any one gone from this kind of situation and could help me.
Even tough the average has dropped the engine still runs smoothly there are no noises. Only issue here is the mileage. I have checked for leakage but there are none.
Within last 8 months i have serviced my bike from 5 different mechanics but none could fixed it and replied engine needs to be opened and checked.
Also are their any reliable mechanics in Pune where they can properly isolate the issue and fix it in low cost. Because TVS svc are asking way above my spending limits.
Thanks.

TVS Apache RTR 160 Matte Blue
Hi guys,
as I previously Posted in the help me choose a bike thread, Bought my bike home last sunday. (I'm from Sri lanka btw), the bike is still parked at home until the number plates arrive. (can take upto 10 days, 5 days gone so far). As I changed from my trustworthy & long time love Discover 135, the new bike has a lot features I like. but first the pics.
Up until now, I rode it around 30 km. it was 0.1k.m when I got it from showroom. (surely they reset the digital meter).
below are my observations so far:- I felt a little vibration compared to my Discover 135, have to do a long run to office to confirm this, also will get settled as it progresses from the 1st service.
- the bike is comfortable - easy to handle.
- Fits tall guys, I'm 5' 11", I had difficulty in sitting on my discover when riding long distances, but the seating is comfy on RTR
- I put 92 petrol, but herd that it's better to use 95 - any advice?
- Love the full digital console, RPM meter is analog & love that.
- Love the DRLs.
- Engine kill switch is something new but handy to me
- get a lot of looks on my Matte blue bike, almost every guy looked at it when i drew it home!!

- love the beat.
- theres even a signal that blinks when your service is due (how cool is that)
what is missing compared to discover- saree guard doesn't have a footrest
- sporty seating position needs to be tested on a long journey
will update this thread once I start riding. Also something to note here : My dealer said that the petrol injection is limited (not fully opened) untill the engine runs 2500km. first service at 500km, 2nd service at 1500km. so the fuel consumption should be tested once the the petrol is fully opened.

Need Advice on my New RTR 160

Hi Guys,
I sold my 3 year long ride companion the Discover 135 Blue and bought an Apache RTR 160 matte blue. Coming from the Discover, I'm still getting used to the gear system (one down, all up). Ride will be home until the registration process is done. Can any RTR owners suggest what should I be looking for and what should be taken care of to use the beast for a long time. anything special to this bike?

Re: Apache RTR/FI
Hello people,
I am new here. Just wanted to ask opinion of owners of RTR 160 Matte Blue.
I have a shortlist of RTR 160, SZ-RR and RTR 200-ABS; planning to buy around September-ish.
Is 160 still a good purchase over other shortlisted models?
And wanted to know about vibrations in current series.
Thanks in advance.
FYI I'm 25years old, 165cm in height, 55kg and 40-70kmph rider.

Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
Buddies I'm having some strange clattering noises from engine wither cold or warm
I'm confused either tappets or timing chain
If so what is the tappet clearance for RTR 160

Re: Apache RTR/FI
Matte blue is available both in 160 and 180. I must say the bike looks smashing in that colour.Originally posted by The_Two View PostDoes the Apache 160 get a Matte Grey finish or Glossy finish?
And what about the matte blue colour? Was it a limited edition colour or is it still available?
