Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
I guess you should stick to the actual profile size as your existing tires. Mrf zapper C is a good choice. It should last 20-25k kms easily. And is also within the budget you specified. Also its a direct fit.
No harm upgrading to 120/80 size. Just watch out for chain sprockets. It tends to wear out quickly due to heavier tires. You might wanna keep oiling every 500 kms and wash it with diesel after 1000 kms.

Re: Apache RTR/FI
I am planning to change my rear tyre (lasted for 30k) for my apache rtr 160 as i have 5 punchers in my bike.
Looking for tyres with good grip and life of 25-30k. My budget is around 2.5-3k
I have shortlisted few tyres
1) zapper c 110/80
2) Michellin sirac 120/80
3) MoGrip Meteor 120/80
can anyone suggest which tyre to prefer among these. Does upsizing the rear stock tyre cause any issues with gearing ratios etc, please guide.
Suggest any other tyres which are good for apache rtr.

What is the color mentioned in your RC book. If its mentioned black then you can go ahead with your changes else you will have to change your RC book with updated color.Originally posted by satish_patil View PostHi All,
I have a 2012 series Apache RTR 160 (Green-black color) . My bike got damaged today when a security guy was moving it in my absence and it fell on another bike. Fuel tank got dented and has scratches, tank cover and silencer too got scratches. Since there were also few scratches here and there already, and the 2014 Black edition looks so cool,
I am thinking of changing the body kit from 2012 Green-black to 2014 Black. That is, changing fuel tank, tank cover, head lamp assembly, engine guard, tail kit etc. I believe the service center has to order them since they wont have them in-stock.
Has anyone done this before ? If yes, what was the cost and how many days do they take ?
Well, I have heard it can run 1L without much fuss but at some point people cannot resist the temptation of reboring it or changing the bike.Originally posted by madhavparashar View PostSo I did something amusing. I had bought a new rtr160 in December 2010. Rode it for 20k kms and sold it off in march 2012. I bought it back last month and it had 47k in the odo. My question is, how much does the engine usually last? Have you seen an apache rtr 160 hyperedge which has done lotsa kms?

Hi, I've heard the rtr 160 engine lasting for 75k+.. yet to hear it about the 180 thoughOriginally posted by madhavparashar View PostSo I did something amusing. I suggest you claim insurance if you are replacing tank and ask them if you can opt for a different colour.. the other parts which you mentioned are fibre parts and will not cost much. The headlamp fibre part+tank scoops+ rear panels+ engine guard are all fibre parts. I remember asking at svc for the cost of the headlamp housing.. it was 200 odd bucks for a single piece. Most of the other parts will be priced similarlyOriginally posted by satish_patil View PostHi All,

They generally take 2-3 days to source the parts.. once the parts arrive the fitting can be done in a few hours.

I second Pratik, avoid any aftermarket exhaust or filter, unless your requirement is very specific to the usage.
