i'll try and take pics later today when i get time. where is the issue? connector-end or where it meets the main wiring harness?

meanwhile, i'm not 100% sure about this but a very reliable and knowledgeable friend told me that disconnecting the battery for a while (30 mins to be safe) will reset all ecu settings to default, including AFR/CO. I haven't ECU'd my bike for about 5-6 years and its running fine. gave me 70+ once running ~250km highway going below 50km/h the whole time. but where's the fun in that? i rev it to 7-8k rpm and typically i get 40-45 in city, riding pretty aggressively. does about 120-125 top speed. This is on a very worn engine, compression is pretty low once hot, probably a badly worn cylinder, and a clutch which is almost finished. anyway, what i'm saying is you probably don't need to diagnose the ECU, except maybe to check what's going on, try seeing if disconnecting the battery resets it.

I completely disagree with the fi specifically having issues, the wiring harness though is absolutely crap quality. and tvs has used insulation tape to wrap the whole thing where they should have used sleeves and heat-shrink. I had quite a few wiring harness issues, which i've mostly fixed myself because I didn't want to buy a new harness for 3.5k. But look at it this way. For a 7 year old bike, is spending 3.5k really too much?

I mean, my upcoming engine overhaul is gonna be easily 3k for the clutch and maybe 5-10k for the engine depending on what all i'm gonna fix. this is including both parts and labour. as far as i'm concerned the fi system is pretty flawless, but the rest of the electrical and mechanical systems are quite poor in quality and longevity.

    more essay later...

p.s. bike is a sep 2008 with ~48k on the odo

I think it's 790mm. and nice to see someone using the correct term instead of 'seat'

If the socket has been cut, you might have to buy the entire electrical wiring kit for the bike. You don't get separate parts especially with wiring. And Fi wiring system is expensive. And availability also might be a problem. Don't try to convert this into a carb if you face issues. This bike will give you nightmares due to Fi system in place. The carb wiring system won't work as it is not compatible with the coil and magnet of the bike.
    very true brother,
Just came from tristar(Domlur). according to them Noting can be done without replacing entire wiring harness costs 2k+(not in stock, min 15-20 days waiting period).
i will visit DTW in evening to check any thing can be done on this issue.its turning to be a white elephant for me..
    thanks,

yes I agree electrical part is is the Biggest flaw in the Apache RTR-Fi.
but it gives the best riding Experience compared to Pulsar-180 and easy on pockets(easily returns 50+Kmpl).

By the way wanted to change stock head light bulb also and while going through older posts, found that you too were looking for Osram Nightracer plus 35W. Did you get it ? If yes, is there a considerable difference in light throw (between stock and nightracer) ?
Its little more whitish than normal and so its not that good when in it comes to rain & foggy condition.
I would suggest you not to change as the extra amount you pay for the same is not that worth mainly because its still 35W. We need atleast 55W to see a change but our bikes being AC & not completly DC, the higher wattage bulbs wont run well.

My beloved RTR. January 2011 model. Since i shifted to another place ( also had severe neck pain), had to sell it. Now it is with a dear friend of mine. He still maintains it in mint condition.

Looks like everyone has been busy riding..

Has anyone from Bangalore done de-carbonization for the piston head ? If yes, from where ?

I am looking for a good service center near HSR layout, Bangalore. I shifted to this area few months back. I had thought Kubera TVS in HSR is a good service center (as said in previous post) but they have bad reviews on Google.

I had been to TVS service centre in HSR layout, Bangalore yesterday to get chain sprocket checked. There were no issues with the sprocket but instead they said gear shift is not smooth and changed the gear lever which was covered within warranty. I had felt this issue before but thought it's the same with all RTRs and had got used to it.

Thanks to those guys, gear shift is super smooth now..

This was my only second visit to that service centre and I'm very happy with the experience both times. Also got positive feedback from the people who had come there for service. Feeling like to get the bike serviced from there next time..:P

How good is tvs remora 110/80, anyone tried using it. Zapper C 110/80 is out of stock, and i prefer to stick with stock size for Rear profile tyre.

No harm upgrading to 120/80 size. Just watch out for chain sprockets. It tends to wear out quickly due to heavier tires. You might wanna keep oiling every 500 kms and wash it with diesel after 1000 kms.
