The thing that bothers me about HE is its Tires and stability which is superior for FZ. But then FZ has very bad mileage for a 150 cc .
I would like to ask from HE owners about the mileage they get. Also Can the tires be changed to tubeless ones. Further should I go for Rear Disc(for a bad tire like TVS's I don't know how much RD would be effective)

Also the on road price of FZ here in Bangalore is 2K more that RTR160RD and 15K more than P135 (mileage difference of >15kmpl also is there). Does it justify that price difference over P135? Though I can afford that money, I would not mind saving some bucks either.
Hi dude..selection depends on ur taste and requirements...FZ is good if u dnt care about millege and all you want is stability....p135 is gud if u r looking for millege and nothin special...but if u want to have something special like performance, acceleration and also pretty enough millege(depending on riding style ) then i would suggest RTR-HE...ofcourse the stock tires are not good(in wet conditions) but u can change it to MRF zappers or even tubeless...well me being an owner of RTR-HE i'm pretty satisfied with the output..i'm getting 50km/litre(in city) even travelling at a speed of 70km /hr and shifting gears most of time because of traffic..so if u r happy going in 60's u can get 50+km/litre...so far my best millege was nearly 69km/l(highway)...then i have gone for rear disc brakes and its working pretty awesome and I feel its better than drum brakes..anyway the choice is yours...

tvs tyre s really suck , but you can change it to tubeless , many have done this the results are really amazing ,i tried a bike with pilot sporty on it it was damn good . mileage i get is around 45(70%city + 30%highway)if you are going for apache go for rear disc setup i repent now that i didnt get it , dont buy fz if mileage is your concern

rear disk wont really help in braking quicker much . i advise to get the standard drum brake rtr 160 and use the saved money on good tubeless tires . you can go for tubeless tires in rtr 160 . drum brake pads also cost less and easier to maintain .

        • What is the difference between the handlebars of RTR160 and RTR180(apart from black color)? Will installing them on 160 make a difference in handling ? I have heard that handlebars of 180 are wider than 160. I need to change my right side handlebar as it has taken a beating, but handlebar of 160 is not available anywhere in Pune, so svc manager gave me the option of installing handlebars of 180.

Go for Hyper EDGE. Its the best in class in RTRs. Has nearly no vibes. Mileage is not an issue. I never tested the mileage factor, but I think it never gave below 45kmpl except once when the SVC guys screwed up the carb.

HyperEDGE, till my knowledge, does not come with Tubeless tyres. Get ready to change both of them to tubeless.

Don't even think of going for drum if you want to taste its true spirit. Go for rear disk. Let me tell you, that the rear disk setup is a little different than others.

Try to get a good elastic for the underseat toolbox slot.

            After buy:
Dont let the SVC guys touch the carb settings. They might ruin the mileage and also performance. Don't use normal petrol, use power, super shell etc.

            @all:
Someone please suggest a better headlamp especially for night riding / night touring for Apache. Some warned me against the HID for apache due to single bulb factor. Please shed some "light" on this factor.
            satyen bhai, help please.

                • Problem with my RTR 180 engine kill switch

Guys I am having a wiered problem with my RTR 180 engine kill switch(Red switch on the right handle bar.

When i run the bike with headlight on, after sometime the engine kill switch stops working. So when I press the switch, bike doesnt turn off but when i switch off the head light bike shuts off.

And this thing doesnt happens if I run the bike with headlight off.
I am having this problem since gear bearing work done on the bike.

The SVC people have replaced the complete engine cutoff switch unit and it did work ok for sometime but now it has again starting giving up the same problem.

Guys any suggestions, whats going on wrong here?
                  Thanks for the help

                      • Guys, i am a happy owner of RTR160 for the last 3 years and has run close to 27000kms on it.but now, its giving me some frowns, for the last couple of months, the engine finds it difficult to rev high unlike the rev happy RTR characteristic. Usually , the vibes will be on it from around 65 to 75kmph and then it vanishes, but now it starts from 65 and goes on increasing and doesnt rev more than 8k. i find it so uneasy to rev it more than 7k with all those vibes and top speed is not below 100 !!
After that, i cleaned the carb and tuned it with my mech, cleaned the spark plug(it was brownish, meaning in gud condition), still its the same, but am getting a mileage of around 45 (but who doesnt get that when riding so sanely !) .He then suggested to decarb the engine, and i did so now, but still it prevails .
PS: i was riding with valvoline 4T premium semi synth oil for last 10k kms and was changing oil at 4000kms. Now have bought shell advance semi synth, got to try it and see if there is any difference. i am running with michelin M45 in the rear and zapper FS in the front.
This problem started after i used KnN filter for some 3 months, but i was unhappy with it as it degraded the bike's performance and nobody here knew to tune it properly with that or re jet the carb. so i removed that and came back to stock filter , i felt it breathed slightly better in this condition, but am not getting the performance i used to get earlier now.
Any suggestions to my problem ? expert advice please.

                        • Need Rear Tyre for My Apache RTR FI.

                          Hi Friends,

Can you guys, suggest me what would be the best rear Tyre to put for my Apache RTR FI, the Rim Size is 18" 100/80....i've thrown away my Stock Tyres and got a new CEAT Vertigo, converted to Tubeless, it's 19" Block grip tyres, but dosen't do good on road, i tend to loose confindence on it when on Road, but off road its the best, but i need a good tyre with better grip for Leaning and cornering .... so far my eyes are on PSD but still i've hear they are a bit heavy.

P.S. i would not want to make any changes to My rear Chain Spocket/Rim size or any modification to my bike to put good tyres, so please suggest accordingly..

                          Many Thanks,.
Waiting for you reply, please do. :-)

                          Regards,

                            • RTR Efi

guys last week finally got Block Piston kit for my bike and after replacing old Block and Piston i can feel that bike is is feelin much Happy and relax.

Issues i was facing with old Block Piston :-

1> Low performance and heavy knocking . Bike was not even crossing 90kmph mark .

                              2> Unstable Idling

                              3> Low average .

                              4> and Compression loss.

                              Repair :-

                              1> Replaced old Valve's ( Inlet and Exhaust )

                              2> Replaced Block Piston kit

4> Did ECU settings like adjusting RPM and CO

Total Cost for repairs was 4187Rs including labor and leth charges . I am very much satisfied with the work done my mech and yea All the time i was their with my bike and act 1st time that Mech was happy with my presence he also gave me some tips and cleaned Fuel tank . Also he told me that Fuel filter should be changed when ever u replace Block Piston ..? is it true ..?

                              So far i've clocked 51200 kms .

Hey buddy u've plenty of options

MRF ZAPPER Q - 100/90-18 (should cost you around 1800Rs)
                                Pirellie Sports Demon - 110/90-18 or 120/80-18 ( costs 3300-3600)
Michiline M45 - ??? ( no idea about size but its similer to 120/80 and costs 1900Rs )
Michiline Pilot Sporty - 100/90-18 its a TL tyre and Costs 1900Rs
Dunlop Geo Cruiser - 100/90-18 Tube tyre and costs around 1500rs

for above all u dont need to make any changes in swingarm or Chain Cover and these tyres has good grip on wet condition . I found PSD is best of them .
