This is the DTSFi thread bro.Originally posted by cephas vivek View PostHello guys..
I own a 2017 bs4 Pulsar 220 Demon black.
ODO reading is 28k. Have always got it serviced from Bajaj service center itself..
Now today ive given my bike for service. Svc guy said there is some engine work that has to be done at 30k kms. Apart from that few major things that are being done are as follows..
Chain sprocket set
Double sided tape for the fairing
General service
Motul 7100 engine oil... And so on..
So the svc guy said the estimate is around 12.5k..
So how much did your bike's service cost you at 30k kms?
Will attach the bill after the service..
P.S im not a harsh rider.. i treat my bike with care as if she's my bae..
Anyways, I've got a DTSi BS3 and it's been abused from day numero uno. She's currently nearing 60k on the odo and other than a tensioner change at 40k and clutch and scissor gear change at around 50k she hasn't asked for much maintenance other than the periodical consumable changes.
She's been running on cheap ass diesel oils that costs about Rs.200/- per liter changed at 1.5~2k intervals and yet no concerns, even the tappets haven't been adjusted so far.
So my best bet is your mechanic is trying to fool you. Other than oil and other consumable changes you really do not need to mess with the motorcycle unless situation demands.
Ride Safe,
A.P.

Tried changing the spark plugs as the current pair was little old. But that did not help either.
Looking for guidance on where to start looking from. Could it be the fuel pump, starter relay, fuel injector or something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Seems the fuel pump is not priming, do have a look at associated fuses and relays.

Please check the tachometer sense wire ie. Primary HT coil input wire.Originally posted by bragzg View PostOf late the rpm meter is not working. On turning the ignition switch. It switches on but does not work when the engine is running. Any suggestions on how to rectify the problem?
As most pulsars use the primary HT coil input for the tachometer also. If P220 Fi is using a seperate wire then I guess you need wiring diagram..

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Hi Guys,
Looking for a specific spare part for the dear Fi to finish off the engine rebuild. Wanted to check whats the best way I can go about it?
Looking for 'DK101100 Insulator Manifold', it's small part in the Cylinder head assembly, seems like it's one of those parts that's not common between the new 220s and the Fi. Any information on websites or spare part contacts that can help me get this would help.

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Don't you feel a fairly noticeable drop in acceleration with the 16T front? Years ago I wanted to try a 15T front for touring, but then using a taller profile rear tyre I was able to get the taller gearing I needed.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostRevived my 220 Fi after a year in storage. Got 15T and 16T front sprockets from aliexpress for ~ ₹500. Arrived in 25 days.
Just a thought, why not go for the 36T rear sprocket of the 220 Dts-i instead?
BTW, if you tour I would recommend carrying a spare front sprocket as I am not sure how reliable the Alixpress one is. Anyway, the front sprocket is small enough to be carried in your pocket.

Revived my 220 Fi after a year in storage. Got 15T and 16T front sprockets from aliexpress for ~ ₹500. Arrived in 25 days.
Now the speeds at 4000rpm are
15T front sprocket speeds
1st Gear -20kmph
2nd Gear - 30kmph
3rd Gear - 40kmph
4th Gear - 50kmph
5th Gear - 60kmph
16T front sprocket speeds
1st Gear -21kmph
2nd Gear - 32kmph
3rd Gear - 44kmph
4th Gear - 54kmph
5th Gear - 64kmph
5th Gear -80kmph @5000rpm
Earlier in 5th gear it did
57kmph @4000rpm
83kmph @6000rpm
tested at 20psi rear and 30psi front.
Earlier it had 14T, 36T
16T sprocket is scratching the walls of sprocket cover, would need to grind the sprocket cover a little. Tested it without sprocket cover. Ill use 16T for my daily usage for smooth highway cruising under 5k rpm..Last edited by sandwichk; 01-08-2019, 01:52 PM.

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Went on a highway ride after a year on my 220. It was a sudden plan after a college mate invited me for his wedding reception at Tirunelveli. A plan was hatched to ride for the reception and on the return take a detour to Meghamalai . A general service from a neighborhood mechanic was all that was required to bring the bike highway ready
Had an awesome little ride of 1400kms in 3 days involving high speed runs and off-roading fun.
Blr - Tirunelveli - Theni - Chinnamannur - Meghamalai - Chinnamannur - Theni - Dindugal - Blr

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
its available everywhere here in Pune ,Originally posted by peregrine View PostHello, good people.
My 220 Fi has been serving me faithfully on the occasional highway rides that I take. However, of late I have finally hit the point where the fuel filter has sprung a small leak, and the congealed dirt and fuel is creeping out on to the tank and eating up the paint.
As usual, the SVC guys have the standard No Spares Available response.
Would any of you know where I could source the following parts?
1. Fuel Filter Assembly
2. Fuel Pump
3. Fuel Pipe in and out.
These are the part names that the SA has indicated that needs replacing. I'm far too attached to this bike to let it go to the scrapyard
Help out a brother please? I can pay and have it couriered to Mysore if it's available.
we have a owner's whatsapp group too pm me if you want to join .

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Well this is my first bike and I don't have a trusted mechanic.Originally posted by Zapps View PostGet the bike examined by a trusted mechanic.
The seller says basic servicing is required and I think at most for now, I would have to change clutch plates too along with servicing .
I did ride the bike but it wasn't revving up well, maybe some small issue, let's see.
